Sweetwater do G&L guitars Jack, would love to get your impressions on one of their guitars. Leo said they were the best guitars he ever made and I agree 😁
Got my first Gretsch a couple of years ago - 2018 Terada Factory Player's Edition Single Cutaway Solid Body in 'Firebird Red' (sorry just need to catch my breath after that . . . ) It's a beautiful instrument, impeccable in every way. I have been eyeing the recent P90 Electromatic Solid Bodies but this one really has my attention! Will see if it's turned up in HK yet! Thanks for the overview, as always.
Jack, great review. You talked about the Bigsby, and the inherent problems they usually have. I'd love to see a review of a roller bridge (Schaller, Tone Pros, etc.) on an Electromatic, with either a B70 or B60.
I recently purchased a G5210T-P90 ELECTROMATIC® JET™ TWO 90 in Petrol and I absolutely love this guitar. It's my first p90 pickup guitar and love the stock pickups. I tried one of the Pristine models but like the Jet model better. It's definitely has the Gretsch tone and is a great compliment to my Gretsch 5655tg with TV Jones pickups. I changed the tuners out and added a Vibramate. It's staying in tune with Bigsby now that the strings are stretched out.
Yeah there are plenty of things you can do to alleviate Bigsby tuning issues. Those Electromatic Jets are a super bang for the buck too. Really great guitars.
Well I WAS going to buy a new iPad Air, but now you have me considering buying this instead. I already own four Gretsch guitars (two G5420s, a G5655, and a G5422-12string). I had been thinking about getting something with P 90s and was looking at the Jet models, but this is so much more my style. The White Gold color in this model looks so sweet. Thanks Jack, you have me convinced
I'd LOVE to see Epiphone put a centre block into a Casino and make like a 'modern' version if you will. My Casino just begs for fuzz, and the centreblock would just make it all so much better. Great video as always Jack, and great guitar!!
Hah, coincidentally just got the Electromatic Jet in the same color yesterday. I only got it because the price was so reasonable. I had no idea how wonderful these guitars sound and feel. If a Chinese made Gretsch can feel and sound this good, I can only think their upper line must be extraordinary. So, yes the lower line is solid. Solid enough that I brought that instead of my Gibson L5 on a restaurant gig last night and loved everything about it. For me, I was happy there was no case but, that could be a problem for someone else. Bigsby is, well...ok, nothing great but just fine- it's the last thing I would worry about at this price point.
I bought an Electromatic Jet about 5 years ago and quickly figured out it was amazing sounding with p90s, as I am not much of a fan of Filtertrons. What is shocking is that someone within the Gretsch/Fender organization had the intelligence and courage to put p90s in several of their new Electromatic models, all of which are really terrific sounding, and Gretsch went forward with it. Usually, the bigger the company, the fewer the good ideas that are brought forward.
Big Gretsch fan here. I have 67 Country Gentleman and 5700 Lap Steel. My biggest complaint about the 6XXX series is the price, and I always found the Electromatic pickups to be crappy. I'll have to go check one of these out. BTW an affordable Gretsch alternative is the Godin 5th Avenue series. I have 5th Ave Ltd that is almost the exact specs of a Gretsch 6120, right down to the TVJ Classic Filtertron pickups at less that 1/2 the price. Amazing guitar.
I got this guitar in the dark red finish. Currently in the shop getting Lollar firebird pickups! P90's were just impossible to get clean and keep clarity
Gretsch are amazing guitars and own 3 of them & love my Duo Jet.. the one I don’t do is the Gold on them. Can’t do it. Enjoyed the video though and more people should have a Gretsch🤘🎸🤘
I had a Gretsch once but two deal breakers- the painted gloss neck was horrible compared to a satin finish neck, and the Bigsby was very close to unusable even with detailed setup with the nut filing, string stretching etc. Beautiful guitars though
I’ve been debating, on whether to get the single cut version of this line. Most people say that the roller bridge is a necessity, with these guitars, because they go out of tune. Most reviews I’ve read, say they got different tuners as well. One can make these as good as the high end Gretsch with a Bigsby, with about $500-700 in upgrades.
I won one of these with a last minute $5 raffle ticket. I hated it at first, but that’s cuz I didn’t give it a chance. I’m getting some great tones now. Just don’t like that I can’t play past the 17th fret
I’m trying so hard to be very considerate about what few guitars to purchase nowadays, being that I think I have most of what I like. But I don’t own anything with a bigsby set up, do most of them have tuning issues? If so which guitar companies have the best or most consistent models that are produced with none of those issues. I would probably consider Gretsch, Guild, Epiphone, Ibanez, Eastman, or Reverend. Out of these would you say any are standouts in the bisby world😆😆😆! Thanks MrJack!
Gretsch, as I talked about, have been the ones who have consistently made the best guitars at that price range for the past 10+ years. Ibanez are great too although I think the Bigsby options are much more limited. People rave about reverend but I've never had the chance to play one.
Jack, is your right hand okay? Maybe it's just a stamp or the editing of the video... Also these are really appealing! I have picked up a few other Gretsches and they feel hit or miss, but definitely intrigued!
Yes it is! Took my kids to a place called Smiling Hill Farm the day I shot this video. They have a barnyard/playground area that you get a hand stamp for.
Hmm… The P90s aren’t doing it for me. I find one of the cool things about Gretsches is that they all have the unique “Gretsch sound” whether they have Filter ‘Trons, HiLo’Trons, or Dynasonics, but the midrange in P90s just negates it too much. Like how putting humbuckers on a Strat takes away the Strat character.

I'd take this over an Epi 335 for sure! That's why I bought one the month they came out. I Love it. What can't a Gretsch do!?
Always nice to see a lucky man inspired by a beautiful bird ... fine playing, Jack!
Awesome guitar. Awesome playing as always.
It does look and sound great. I’ve always loved Gretsch
I bought a 2420 from a friend and just swapped the pick ups to TV Jones and it is a killer. Great neck and finish
2420 is the Streamliner series, correct?
@@JackFossett yes
I've been wanting to swap the pickups on my 2622 to TV Jones... you've motivated me to just get it done and over with. Thank you!
Don't need one but want one 😎

Great playing Jack 👍🏻 The Gretsch sounds very nice. Always fancied a one as they have their own thing going 😁
I LOVE this guitar, P90 on Gretsch. It Will be my new one by far. Awesome guitar, precious jewel.
I am a little worried you can make any guitar sound good. You made this one sound killer. Great demo of the Gretchness and a little sumptin extra.

Remember, an iPad becomes obsolete after several years. A Gretsch is forever. 😃

That would be cool! They've done the smaller body 339 with p90s but I don't ever recall them making a full size. Although I could be wrong.
Incrível guitarra 🎸🎵❤ TKS Jack !

Those are killer guitars for the price
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day Jack ❤😊

I had to return a P90 Gretsch because the frets were far from level, to the point of making sitar sounds. Went with a D’Angelico instead.
Oh thats too bad - I've never had that kind of quality issue with a Gretsch. Although D'Angelico are superb, love them too!
I own one and love it!!!
Wish they made a full hollow body similar to the 5420 in this series...
Is that larger than the 335? Sounds great but looks giant!
Love my p90 guitars but have not had them on a hollow body…sounds incredible.
I had a Gretsch once but two deal breakers- the painted gloss neck was horrible compared to a satin finish neck, and the Bigsby was very close to unusable even with detailed setup with the nut filing, string stretching etc.
Beautiful guitars though

The tuning stability isn't terrible, and isn't worse than any other guitar with a Bigsby - but yeah, a few upgrades will make it more stable.
I won one of these with a last minute $5 raffle ticket. I hated it at first, but that’s cuz I didn’t give it a chance. I’m getting some great tones now. Just don’t like that I can’t play past the 17th fret
The first jam you play is really cool, what is it?
Thanks! It’s an original - ruclips.net/video/J0IQsHkzaTQ/видео.htmlsi=ASMs9ehSiIelhlf-
Nice, also own a 53 Duo Jet VS and 6120 PE, and the electromatic 12 string wouldn't mind having the pristine, p90s are awesome.
Is it neck heavy with a strap standing up?

This or a G5422TG? Semi with P90s or full hollow with Filtertrons? Help me out.

There are Gretsch models made in China, Indonesia or Korea , is that correct?

How do you like it? Thinking of getting that one
@@jonny3700love it, is versatile. Can play live: rock, worship, kind of acoustic stuff. Very nice guitar
Wish they had it in walnut.
😅I'd be all over it
