This is so informative, and so much fun!. I bought my 9yo daughter a Tester 68 as her first mechanical board. I'm currently making a custom acrylic case for her with ktt kang whites and GMK clone Vaporwave..

My Tester68 in white just came in yesterday and I got some Akko Dracula castle and Akko rose reds to go with. This is my first every custom board and I love it. Tes68 is insane value
You should do another version of this contest and let the mods use open-source, through-hole boards! Like, any kind of board.

It is so great that you guys can get so many things in 40$, in India the tes68 alone cost 40$.
Keyboard hobby is like 2 to 3 times more expensive in India.

@@BreathOfDust yes, you heard right. Although their prices got slightly better in recent years, but still significantly expensive. You can only get iPhone 14 in India for price of 14 pro in US.
And what makes it even worse is that per-capita income of India is just a small fraction of per-capita income of US.

@@ShubhamYadav-oc7oj It is difficult to get any good board at 5K (60$), but you can go for rkg68 & rk71 from genisispc.

Your comment about the 205go. I don't know much about modding i'm newer to keyboards and all i had laying around was "demnum grease" not sure if you're familiar with it but i did use it on a "motospeed ck62" wich kind of sucks since the switches are soldered to the board so couldnt do much with that but its night and day difference. My main keyboard is an ugly "Razer Blackwidow" and my prized keyboard is a "Novelkeys Mitchlan 65". still playing around with the idea of keyboards just really expensive haha

I built a tes68 for my coworker for just under $50. Gateron Pro Yellows are really nice in that board. I tape modded and polyfilled it. Sounds really nice.

@switchandclickoffical one problem I have with this is that the microphone that is used keyboard really makes the difference and also when they record their keyboard, they should half to use a video recording so they don’t cheat

Hi Switch and click i was wonder is the akko v3 cream yellow switches are good and what is your opinion?
I have bought them. They are very poppy but also can be clacky and are smooth when lubed. Stock they have spring ping but when lubed it all goes away
I loved JayKeebs darker look, and it also sounded better to me, he got did dirty imo
His was the best one by far in my opinion.
Do you have any videos on the RK918 got it for a really good price, it is not hot swappable but would love to make some adjustments to it. Since I got it for so cheap I'm happy to experiment.

any recommendations on silent linear switches? the zeal sakurio and roselio etc do cost more so I am wondering if you can recommend something that isn't currently $13 for 10 switches
The oetemu honey peach are solid for quiet and not quite that expensive. They're about 8 dollars per 30...
I haven't tried them, but Akko has just put out their first silent linear - Haze Pink.

I am new to this kind of keyboard. Can someone explain why does the community, manufacturers included, turn their noses up at shine-through keycaps? I bought the RK84 and wanted to replace the ugly generic keycaps. However there seem to be almost no options that are readily available, especially for XDA profile which look interesting to me.
To me shine-through keys are not a matter of aesthetics. I prefer to work in a dark environment, where shine-through keys make using a keyboard much easier. It is matter of usability.
