  • In this video we are going to use a T Takmly WiFi Microscope (not sponsored-available on Amazon) to peer into the depths of a common 5 wafer desk push lock to read the approximate heights of each wafer which will enable us to (hopefully) make a key.
The other alternative for this would be a full impression method which is perfectly fine but once you get the basics down for sight reading wafer locks like this it will assist you in your key making process, save wear and tear on the locks wafers, and speed up the process! Usually :)

Nice use of the scope, makes it a super clear video too!

Another interesting tip! I find that most folks..like everybody..in my neck of the woods are too cheap for a lost key for a lock. The only time it comes up is when someone realllllllllly wants that lock to work. Which is very rare. Cool tool though!

This is still basically a magic trick to me. I think Jason can jiggle the lock and the wafers scream the cut. I suppose he has to do it the long way so we can learn something. 😂

I'm looking into that scope. My eyes need all the help they can get. Thanks, Jason

There are cheaper versions if you don't need rechargeable but now I want to upgrade mine because this one seems cool.

Thanks Jason I have that same scope and use the same app for other things. I'm definitely going to be scoping a few locks with it in the future.

dom question for anyone with any ideas: putting my new work van together and I’m tired of my metal stamps that are in a wooden block jumping up and going everywhere in my van. Does anyone have any ideas to keep the block set stationary besides just using screws on each side? I hope that made sense lol.

get some neodymium magnets from K&J Magnetics that are your hole diameter and glue them in the bottom of each hole
If metal bench top glue more mags to bottom or bracket it either corner angles
