I witnessed and enjoyed this on 2 tabs, the ultimate way to watch this movie. Nothing beats being at the peak of your trip and witnessing the Chinese standoff
If you're ever in the San Francisco Chinatown area, swing by the Wing Kong Exchange and ask for David. I'll arrange for a tour. I'll even show you my Yeti.
@@pinchevulpes Me and my classmates made our teacher go grey in a year, because we would re-enact entire scenes from that movie throughout the day. Needless to say that I was SpecialEd
@DAVID_LO_PAN BUT I WANT TO SNIFF A FART FROM A ANCIENT MAGICAL CHINESE YETI'S BAREASSHOLE! FROM HIS BAREASSHOLE! IS THAT PART OF THE EXPERIENCE LO PAN?
Get some Zach Snyder slo mo in there, make it a prequel, some green screen, de aging digitization, promote whatever current political agendas and you’ve got yourself a winner! 😁
Given Hollywood's obsession with reboots & prequels, this is one movie that should NEVER get a remake. That said... I wouldn't mind a prequel that shows how a young Egg Shen becomes the badass sorceror we know and love.
I saw this in the theater too. Amusing thing was, my cousin and I were trying to get into see Aliens. Went to see this at a different theater, THEN went to see Aliens. That’s also the answer to your question as to why it didn’t do better. The hype for Aliens was gearing up, it opened 2 weeks after this.
Watching this movie as a kid was an experience like no other. Have anyone noticed that the Mortal Kombat character Raiden is inspired by this movie? This movie is way before the first Mortal Kombat game was ever created.
@@TrollMalefico1984 So maybe rather than having nothing to do with the mythological Raiden, it would be fairer to say the MK variant is loosely or very loosely based on it? clearly there is some intentional relationship....
The coolest move I've ever seen in a fight came from this film. The opening brawl where the guy had his head put through a board by another guy kneeing him in the face.
So much going on in this scene, magical grenades and rocket launchers, magical/spiritual video game combat, Jack knocking himself out by being a cowboy and then wishing he hadn’t skipped leg day. All of them just living in the moment.
Hard no, with today’s Hollywood it would be a bunch of gay trans female black vegans and they’d all be bulletproof but couldn’t open a jar of peanut butter.
Bro.......The fact that Egg Shen has peasant magic. Its established Lo Pan is over like 1000, or 10,000 years old. But, when Lo Pan says, "You could beat me....Egg Shen". The fact that they do not elude to the fact that Egg Shen is also a sorcerer, on the caliber of Lo Pan and is over 1,000 or 10,000 years old himself. Makes this movie so much more Awesome.
After I watched this all I wanted in the world was travelling to San Francisco's China Town and going to one of the stores to see if they had a basement where to go into.
I find it crazy but also very original how, while most magic villains seek to become indestructible, Lo Pan's honest goal is to become vulnerable and mortal. He willingly goes from a powerful deathless wraith to a guy who dies when a truck driver stabs him with a knife.
But likely becoming flesh was just a first step for Lo Pan's ultimate goal. Likely the next step is to become immortal later and after that, likely build a larger army and last, conquest.
@@okamijubei No, that's standard Carpenter. Several of his films have that type of ending. HALLOWEEN, THE THING, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, THE WARD and THEY LIVE, to give you some examples, end without a neat resolution. The Carpenter Ending usually *isn't* a set-up for a sequel. HALLOWEEN wasn't intended originally to have a sequel continuing the story of Michael Myers, yet after the success of the original film, it was decided for HALLOWEEN II to pick up from the ending of the previous film. The ending to BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA isn't meant to imply a sequel--where would the sequel go? It's just another Carpenter Ending.
I'm glad they haven't tried to remake this one. It's no doubt in my mind they would mess it up and not do it justice. I hope they leave this classic alone
12 year old me... This is the best thing ever. Adult Me...Jesus Christ this scene is in the top ten stupidest barely choreographed sequences in history.
Lo Pan should have married Gracie first since he wanted to sacrifice her to appease the god of the East, then with his new powers he could have gone after Mio Min anytime he wanted
Just love how much is going on…you cannot describe this movie to someone without it sounding INSANE it simply must be witnessed and enjoyed.

I totally agree. They'd just f-ck it up as usual.
