    Hey Bro. Warren, this tutorial is helping me a lot to reach my goal to play Gospel and Jazz better. I mentioned to you before how much I want to be able to play Jazz piano better. Understanding these Scales helps me to the possibilities to create my own style and see my voicing chords options.

    Take the relative minor - for C it would be A. The A minor blues starting from C is the C major blues! These videos are goldmines, thank you so much. I like your playing because I play similarly (tho not as good)

      "major blues scale" is just the"blues" scale of the relative minor. "C major blues scale" is really just the "A blues scale" ...

    Sir, I'm always amazed watching your video. There are so many scales in music. You happen to know each of them. I know all my major scales. I know how to form the minor of each key. But I have yet to memorize them.. Sir you are good👍👍

    HIya Warren, Love your work. I know it was just an oversight, but at about 10 minutes in this lesson, you called the A minor pentatonic the 1-b3-4-5-and 6. But the 6 should read b7, as it is the flat 7 of A Major, just as the b3 is of A Major. This lesson is valuable for us to learn to improvise over gospel chords and really dive into the gospel sound. Thanks.

    Warren um open for correction
    what i have realised is that when u play a major scale u are also playing the relative minor at the same time eg c major and a minor scale
    when u play when u play a pentatonic this is still the same relative minor
    eg Cmajor pentatonic =Aminor pentatonic

    QUESTION!!
    When switching from the 1 chord to the 4 (C to F) do you use the F scale on the F chord or the stick with the C Blues/Pentatonic scale on the 4 chord?

      Speed is something you gradually work, practice your scales to a metronome and each week you increase that speed in small increments. This is how you work on speed.

    Warren, Ussually I have problems to run up with scales, but running down I do very well.... when I make some arpeggios running up I do very well, but running down I’m weak yet :(

      @@hortencepauni9704 we don’t think of the blues s cake that way. The blues scale is used primarily for improvisation. We don’t “play” in the blues key as we wound the minor key or the major key.

      Mark Joseph Pagsuyuin yes, very important. Good fingering is what will allow you to play fast and clean.

      Unfortunately no well, and not at all on Selene mobile devices. The mobile browsers currently isn’t powerful enough to run the play. Hopefully in the near future the mobile tech will catch up.

    Am I getting this right: did you mean to say the 1,2,b3,3, 5,6 is the Minor Blues in this lesson at minute about 7.23 seconds? You started out saying the Minor blues is 1,b3,4,#4, 5,b7 ?

    Can you pls explain why in a video by another pianist said the
    minor pentatonic is 1 3 4 5 7
    Your is 1 b3 4 5 b7

      The video explained using Aminor scales. The area where I got confused was that:
      1 b3 4 5 b7 ( of Major scales )
      1 3 4 5 7 ( of natural Minor scales )
      Conclusion:
      The other video showing pentatonic scales from natural minor scales was right..
      Your video showing same pentatonic scales from Major scales was as well right...

    What about adding a b7 to the minor blues scale? Is is still the minor blues scale?

      Not sure I understand. The minor blues and major blues is basically the same scale, it’s just the root note change.

      @@PianoLessonwithWarren Oh, this is what I mean: 1 b3 4 b4 5 7 b7 8 . I've seen the minor blues scale described as that in guitar manuals, with two blue notes, one between the 4 and 5 and the other between the 7 and 8. Could this still be called a blues scale in your experience, or is it some invention that falls outside the genre?

      @@balthasarte5649 that some sort of hybrid blues scale which I’m not familiar. The traditional blues is 1 b3 4 #4 5 b7 8. With that said, when playing blues we use all 12 tones of the piano as we’re often introducing other scales based on the chord structure - more advanced form of blues playing. So I can see why the guitar manual may have listed that hybrid.

    Hello please I want to understand this, if someone says he’s playing in the ‘key’ of Fminor what key is that cos I know there are 12keys from C to B and their respective signatures and u can only make minors out of each them when they turn into chords. So why do we say the key of Fminor?

      Unfortunately this question is rather complex to explain in a comment. You need to look up videos exposing tonality in music to understand the difference between major keys and minor keys
