Holy shit, I've been watching this video for years now, but this is the first time I've come back to it since discovering Hamilton. Renee is nothing short of goddess.
Gwen never fails to amaze me with her range. Hearing her in the original cast, and then hearing her again with the final Broadway cast...it always makes me tear up hearing that high note.
i have been clicking on close to 10 versions of this on RUclips, but none had what this cast have; having lived as the character for one of their longest run, and it just comes out naturally and that which the other versions can not even compare in the least. you literally *feel* them. def one of my fav!
i luv rent sooo much and this is a very insperational song...my high school is doing rent and i'm the female soloist n this song...i cnt wait 2 perform it...they did beyond an amazing job...i wish i had had a chance 2 c this on braodway b4 it closed:);)!
@mrjcb91 The womans name is Gwen Stewart and it's just a solo, that she originated in the original production of Rent. In the movie Tracie Thoms who replaced Fredi Walker as Joanne sings the solo so that's why some people are confused but yeah it's Gwen's solo.
You guys RENT is back in New York and take my word for it, it's AMAZING. Mr. Larson would be so proud and after all these years it still feels fresh and relevent.
2 people missed the Like button. It's amazing how reading the comments can bring out so much emotion. I watched this vid with my friend cos we're doing RENT at school and we started to read the comments and she began crying. This song is made of EPIC WIN!!! R.I.P. Jonathon Larson and thank you for this fantastic musical!
@tomt2201 Gwen Stewart, she was the original soloist in 1996 too! i got to meet her when she was in the closing tour production, she's so sweet and down to earth too!!
a group is singing this at Mrs. Ann Ostrow's funeral today. I'm grateful for this video and certainly grateful for her and the many lives she touched both musically and non-musical.
This is such a powerful song, so beautiful and i love how it was sung by very powerful voices that don't overshadow the beauty in the song, but rather emphasize it.
Sorry about your friends. If I die of cancer, I will still love this song and I think it will make me happy to keep in mind all of the sweet times with God-given friends. My friend who recently died of cancer told us all to keep in mind how each day is a gift. She was a wise lady.
@ThisIsJoseSpeaking Angel is in the line as a boy - and it takes place perfectly in line with the script - it's just a slow moment in the middle of all the action...in fact, during the I'll Cover You Reprise, you'll notice that Collins is singing and at one point the spotlight that is over Angel's spot is a teeny bit bright to emphasize the point that he's no longer there - I've seen the show 37 some odd times so i started to notice little nuances like that
You can see in their eyes that they know they're part of something so iconic
Fun Fact: They were all randomly chosen, from the sidewalks!
@@secretoutcast4864 idk how true that is, but maybe randomly chosen to partake in the open auditions most likely
the last performance always deserves a cast album seriously
When you see Renee and immediately start crying.
Holy shit, I've been watching this video for years now, but this is the first time I've come back to it since discovering Hamilton. Renee is nothing short of goddess.
Her voice is so clear I love it 😭😭

The male soloist sent chills down my spine. Amazing! One of the best Broadway songs!!!!
Rent has changed my life forever. It has taught me to live today like I'm going to die tomorrow. Thank you Jonathan Larson.
I am living. Everyone is so flawless, I don't even know where to begin

Singing it in chorus best song ever!
This is my favorite version of this song, mainly because of the variation of the male solo. Very nice!
The lady at 1:38 has a beautiful falsetto when she sings “minutes”❤️❤️
