I still dont know what it meant to him when he wrote it but ever since i heard it first, it means a lot to me. I dont really listen to Opeth anymore but I listen to this song and I play it with my acoustic. It's like cry-porn, idk how to explain it and i definitely wouldn't talk to someone in person about it since im a man not supposed to cry Very good song tho, wish it wasnt on a concept album so it made more sense on its own but idk maybe thatd ruin it
Come into this night Here we´ll be gone So far away From our weak and crumbling lives Come into this night When days are done Lost and astray In what´s vanished from your eyes What came and distorted your sight Saw you benighted by your fright Come into this night Your plight alone Carry your weight You are flawed as all of us Come into this night You only home It´s never too late To repent, suffer the loss Come into this night When you´re able To undo your deeds And atone with your lonely soul Once you´re into this night All minds are stable Forget all your needs Lose the grip of all control
I totally agree with him.. Nick Drake is one of the most underrated singer songwriters of the last 30 or 40 years. This song feels like a nick drake song with an opeth take on it. Absolute genius from both artists regardless
@@bigassdummy46 it wasn’t record original but im so happy it isn’t. That interlude section was much sadder and softer still trying to figure out how he played that. No need to be perfectionist
actually for those who listen well, benighted's song structure and style is very similar to Nick Drake's Three Hours. The only Camel inflluence is the intro piece
What does Classical Music have this Music doesn't have? Nothing! I Relish in many pieces from both Genre's and find the level of both Discipline and Skill necessary to participate or appreciate either equal, period.

Hey man. I know it´s been 10 months since you commented. I tried to play this song slightly drunk. It´s fucking impossible. There are so much ways you change your fingers, you have to to be sober to play this accuratly

I want an entire Opeth concert of just their calm stuff.
i saw them do a performance like this at berklee college of music in like 2006
pulled out my old box of ticket stubs - it was july 19th 2003 - over 20 years ago now! life really zips by fast, damn.

Mike Akerfeldt - phenomenally talented musician and onstage banter champion. Fantastic stuff!
my favorite band, I love this music.

Mikael talking about Nick Drake just makes my heart fill up with joy

He is still very much plugged in
i would love to see them perform this live ive seen them a couple of times but to see them perform this song would be amazing love OPETH
literally no wrong note lol insane and I know how hard it is to play perfect acoustic
this was far from perfect

cant get enough of the solo
I think its more inspired by Camel than Nick drake,,, amazing anyway,,, one of my favorite tunes ever...
Yea, Camel "Never Let Go."
The intro is totally ripped off by never let go
nothing to do with nick drake, except fingerstyle, i agree
actually for those who listen well, benighted's song structure and style is very similar to Nick Drake's Three Hours. The only Camel inflluence is the intro piece
@@mohamadibrahim3799 This! Also, the lyrical content has a Nick drake-ish vibe written all over it.

Truth!
My thoughts exactly ! I will always stand that Metal is the heir of classical music, Mozart or Beethoven would dig the hell out of an Album like Rust in Peace or Still Life !
It hints at that direction, but this does not exhibit the same rigor as the most "exemplary" classical music.
Could be so...
Camel - Never Let me Go
Opeth mentioning Nick Drake? Who is that? The rabbit hole just gets deeper for me. I introduced to Opeth and Katatonia in the last 4 years lol
He’s great! You ever get around to listening?

please, compose some fugues for organs to suply Bach´s ones!!!
what is that song that mike plays in the beggining?

Mikael never takes any opportunity to improvise. I’ve heard him say severely times how he can’t do it. I guess he really believes that.
They must have been a bit drunk when they did this :D Mikael is trolling even more than usual

They probably already lost their mindballs.
Kind of heart-breaking to hear Mikael say "I'm not Christian, I don't care", especially without context
I think he was talking about swearing in a church. It’s just a building, that was the context.
