Bad Axe is a really good outfit! I make all their kerfing plane and frame saw parts and really enjoy working with Cass and the gang! I actually saw you there one day when I was dropping off an order.
Thank you. I own 2 of their saws and I love them. My experience with them has been great. I appreciate that we still have businesses like this in America that I can support.
I only a hybrid woodworker, but Bad Axe saws are the very best made for my money! I've had Lie Nielsen and Veritas saws, and while they both are good saws in their own right, the Bad Axe saws just cut better! Truth be told, they make me look better than I am!
Bad Axe is on my wish list. I have a couple of nice backsaws by Rob Cosman which, in my limited experience, are the best saws. I have Veritas and Lie-Nielsens too, but I never use them any more since I bought my Cosmans. Maybe you can do a review of those too?
Where can I get one of those black chisel holders in the background? They look like they're held in with some kind of gravity lock. Great interview--cool to see!
A saw for every occasion. More saw types than I ever envisioned. And some of them have very interesting handles. They were all beautiful. The lady isn't bad either. Plus she appears to know a great deal about saws. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your tour of their shop. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂Bad Axe. Yea, they should have an axe in their line.
the back is just pinching the plate so if the plat catches it can move in the back rather then kinking. if the back is glued or riveted then the blade can kink if it catches in the cut. with the folded back if it ever does get messed up then you can tap it back into place in a second or two. rather then being stuck with a destroyed saw.
Hey Thanks for that great interview. I attended a workshop with their founder Mark Harrell this past fall in that very shop you conducted your interview. He is an especially talented teacher. He his wife Ivan started this successful custom saw company for hand tool woodworkers. Cass and the young new owners are keeping the tradition alive, well and growing. They use hammer saw sets and I had the fortune of using some of the vintage hammer saw sets made by Foley and Seymour Smith. They work well and are very consistent once you get them dialed in. I have been looking for one of these online and just have not seen any for sale. Hoping to find one at the Peach MWTCA meet in February. Have you seen one at any of the MWTCA meets or can you advise where these might be available for purchase. Sorry for the long comment. Thanks again, and please keep up the great teaching videos.
I actually purchased one at an MWTCA meet last year. But Bad Axe might be coming out with something. Stay tuned. But if you want vintage check out Www.handtoolfinder.com
@@WoodByWrightHowTo I wasn't watching the website. I was watching your video. Yes, combining different options often does dictate price. I was curious about the range of prices. I will go to the website when I get a chance.
James - regarding the thumb rest on your new saw (congrats btw, she's a beaut), how do you like it? As soon as I saw it and thought about how it might feel, I thought I might like it, but given that I haven't seen it before I'm a little wary. Got any quick pros/cons? Think a fellow could cut on a carcass saw handle to get a similar groove?
🌟⭐🌟OK, harz the question......how doooo these was compare to Cosman's saws_____tpi, handles, greater tpi at the tip, steel, price, etc. "R" ewe up for doing a comparison? ___Tankx
Bad Axe saws are on my wish list-I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Another great video. Looking forward to seeing that saw in production 👌
That was a BAD ASS interview
Love my new Luthiers saw. ❤
So nice to see someone creating high quality saws for woodworking by hand.
Awesome to hear that more DIY kits are coming - I've been looking for a good folded-back kit!
Their stuff is awesome and Cass has been amazing whenever I interact with her.
great interview thanks! BATW is second to none. Service as amazing as their quality. They do hybrid right.
Thanks James I'm so glad to see hand crafted tools for craftsman by Craftsman still being custom made
Something different. I great video. Thanks for sharing
Great informative interview!
Beautiful saws

No joke-- I want these saws.
Beautiful tools! Cass really knows her stuff, too! Cool business.
I'm impressed that the panel saw plates are ground to make them thinner at the top; I've not seen/heard of that before.
That used to be the way it was done 100 plus years ago. But it is a time-consuming step and most companies started cheaping out on it post war.
Those saws look incredible👍
... and I imagine, with the O.G. model, having a thicker gauge helps to keep the nose/toe (?) ridgid when digging into those tight spots 🤔

Mmph! I need to replace one of my saws and the one you bought looks to be just the ticket.
Great Video. thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this video!
Thanks for sharing.
Bad Axe makes amazing products, would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a heirloom hand saw
Drooling now.
Howabout gent saws? Nobody likes them but I love them!
Nice Ogee 12:44, I ordered mine a few weeks ago (rip teeth), hopefully I´ll get it during January.
Great video!
Thanks for sharing that!
Gidgee makes amazing tools. How did they score that hard to get Aussie timber? There must be a great story behind it.
Great!!

Fantastic video, as usual. And this time we get to see Bad Axe saws! Who's got a few hundred bucks I can borrow?
Very interesting clip. However I'm still confused about the adjustable back thing. She went way over my head ???

So excited to get my new toys, cough cough, tools 🤓
Don't know how I missed this but nice
🤤🤤 I’m not drooling, you’re drooling
Well now i have stuff to add to my chrostmas list for the next few years
Found them while looking for a bench hook because I'm too lazy to make my own.
Nice saws! Would Bad Axe ever make 19th century Japanese draw saws?
What brand and model of a sawset do you recommend? Thanks BigD from Texas
I'm hoping to do a video on types of faucets in the next few weeks.
I'm looking forward to watching you set a saw with a faucet... that could be very comical.@@WoodByWrightHowTo
Lol. Speech to text strikes again.
I noticed there wasn't much said about prices.
They are all on the website. but the price depends on the options you pick. they are all special order.

Yes it does!
I need to saw-t out my saws.
I saw this video.
Niiiiiice.

Better in most every way.
Hand saws cut through wood
Sharp teeth and steady motion
Create something new
Bad axe comment
No prices
You can find them all on the website. It all depends on what options you want on your saw. They're all customizable.
Axe this comment
Significantly over priced for the hobby makers. Nice product all the same.
I'm actually rather surprised they can keep them at the price they do. And most of their saws are sold to the hobby woodworker.
