I purchased the 3/8" drive variant of this that comes with the deep and standard sockets, but in metric only. They are a nice quality set but a little on the pricey side in comparison to what else is out there. I do like a ratchet without a rubber / plastic grip that is so common these days.
Thanks for commenting. Yes Milwaukee is proud of their tool sets but these are a solid set. Yes it would be great to have some more sockets included but this set is going to last you longer than most. Agree with you on not needing the comfort grip. 👍🏻
That Milwaukee ratchet is absolutely phenomenal. The back drag is very little and it is buttery smooth, with a pretty low arc swing. I tried out the 120 gearwrench and it’s awful compared to the Milwaukee.
Milwaukee does an excellent job with their ratchet. Don’t get me wrong. I like my gearwrench 120 but the 90 tooth from Milwaukee is smoother and has less backdrag. 👍🏻
Nice set, I do really like the Milwaukee hand tools, they are really nice and well built. Not sure if I would buy this set compared to the Quinn set that comes with deep sockets or the Icon set. But hey thanks for the video, awesome stuff.
I bought the modular 3/8 set and reviewed it right as it dropped. There are some things I found concerning. Check it out : NEW - ICON 3/8 in. Drive SAE and Metric Modular General Service Socket Set W/Case, 54-Piece - #70469 ruclips.net/video/ESLzkkGz1qU/видео.html
I was walking in Lowe’s a couple days ago and randomly saw that they had their 1/4” 24 piece small kit (in the small drill bit type case) on sale from $30 to $13. I. Have soooo many kits, it’s the last thing I need. In fact, I even made my own kit, in the same box, using old craftsman sockets, and a tekton rotor head ratchet as well as bits to put in a car (also made a 3/8” version). But this was so cheap, I couldn’t pass it up. Craftsman has another one that is more like this size with about the same prices BUT sooo much wasted space. I don’t think the craftsman is same quality as this Milwaukee, but it’s much better when considering it is approx 25% the cost.
I have a few craftsman sets. They do make a couple decent mechanical sets but as of late they have been making bigger containers with too much wasted space or worthless filler. Sadly they just keep repeating and failing right after they appear to be making progress.
I usually am not impressed by ratchets that come in sets like that. I do use some craftsman ones to put under water to change temperature sensors though
I get that. Craftsman is well known for having sub par ratchets that come in their sets. However Milwaukee has really outdone themselves here. It’s a top tier ratchet and overall great set. You won’t be disappointed 👍🏻
Watch the project farm ratchet videos. The Milwaukee ratchet had the highest failure load of all the ratchets tested (Vim tools tested their own however and beat the high score) and had less backdrag then a lot of the other brands. they did super impressive
In fairness it’s not a big blow molded case. It’s actually pretty well thought out. The case can also still be used for other things if you remove the tray.
Craftsman has a kit like this with a clear lid that also has so much wasted space. They finally came out with one that is in the much smaller craftsman case
Milwaukee kits are so overpriced as are individual ratchets and sockets by craftsman (the craftsman kits aren’t priced too bad). I’ve got the 3/8 Milwaukee kit with the packout that goes with it. The only reason I got it was because I got it on clearance for a great price, otherwise it’s way over priced. I’ve also got Capri, Craftsman, DeWalt, old USA craftsman, Kobalt, Icon, Quinn, Husky, tekton, gear wrench DP Auto (yes, I’ve got lots of kits one in each car, and a couple for the house).
We aren’t too dissimilar. I have many kits as well. Milwaukee can be expensive which I don’t really agree with but this kit is actually a quality set when it comes down to it. I wish there were deep sockets like the 3/8 drive but everything in this is going to perform great and outlast most other competitors you mentioned. 👍🏻
I would never pay $70+ for that set or $40 I just don't think you need to spend that kind of money on a 1/4" set your not going to be cranking on them that hard.
Yea, they could have shortened it up a little bit, or added in a couple extensions, thumb wheel, wobble. Honestly its better than most being offered on the market. Perfect example being Craftsman.
I think many of us would prefer that as well. However for Chinese these are better than much higher priced competitors overseas. Just watch my last icon video.
Tekton 1/4 set is far superior. You get deep and shallow standard and metric. The ratchet was also upgraded. Milwaukee set isnt even in the same bracket..
I do like the deep sockets however the ratchet is superior on the Milwaukee. Sockets will be user preference but the edge goes to Milwaukee for multiple use.
@@ThingsMen15mm damages a 1/4 ratchet......it's too much. regular use like that will break any 1/4 ratchet. You're too young to know anything, like reading. But if you read a torque spec chart for fasteners, you see that a 15mm goes about half a reasonable torque spec for a 1/4. If you go beyond 1/3-1/2 the breaking strength, you wear it out and it breaks. That's why God made 3/8 and 1/2 and 3/4. Even a great 1/4 ratchet breaks at 80 foot pounds. A bolt torqued at 25 foot pounds or more should not be used in 1/4" ratchet. 15mm is silly in this kit, and the only reason you can run a 14mm with a 1/4 is because Japanese just don't use the number 13 so they took the same bolt and gave it a 14mm head. But absent that behavior, you wouldn't even run a 14 on a 1/4 ratchet. I don't go above 11mm with a 1/4 ratchet. It's abuse. But you can be the product tester for the rest of us and live at the hardware store doing warranty. If you ever actually turned a wrench , and replaced a belt tensioner with a 13mm, tell me you wanna do that with a five inch long 1/4 ratchet 😂😂😂😂😂 it would hurt your hand.
@@ThingsMen I disagree. The tekton ratchet is very good. The sockets aren't just preference but necessity. In about half the time, you're going to need a deep socket. I'll never buy a set without deep sockets.
You think the 56pc 3/8” is worth $99? I waited til I found a smokin deal on one around $70, no way was I going to pay above that. I just got it because it fits so well in the proper packout

Yes. Everything stays in place. 👍🏻

This, or the 1/4” “modular” Icon set with a 30% off coupon (when it comes around) from Harbor Freight?

1/4 is definitely more geared towards smaller projects not requiring added torque or that are in confined spaces.

@@ThingsMen and where the ratchet and socket set is, the box is black, not red like in the video
Seems like the case could have been half that size. I'm tight on space, so things like that are a detriment to me.
