@samt.1356 if I'm not mistaken, they didn't see the saiyans fighting the entire time, they only saw hercule there during the aftermath. So it makes sense why they would remember him there instead of the saiyans, because that's what they saw.

i feel bad that Goku bailed out from fight twice in buu arc, almost make the entire budokai tournament failed because almost all of the Fighters were following Goku, and the second one when Goku just run away with uub especially after the Announcer was rooting for him like that

Goku Vs Jackie Chun probably also is one of the last fights in Dragonball that untrained human eyes could follow, due to the fact that the fighters in the series keep getting faster as well as stronger. A normal casual audience wouldn't be able to actually see anything. I'm just speculating. I could be wrong
The original Dragon Ball is so underrated. Especially all the tournaments finals were genuinely amazing fights (and the one with Demon King Piccolo too)

GT for some reason made him angsty where he was making a lot of fighting mistakes, which isn’t like Goku at all, really making him look like a dumbass all around and for whatever reason made Gogeta, while Cool in Design, a mf jokester who couldn’t finish the job and made some weird ass cop out with the spirit bomb and for some reason omega shenron couldn’t touch Goku when he was making it. The whole peril to making the spirit bomb was making it because of how vulnerable you are.

He has definitely aged. It's just that the start of Dragon Ball and end of Z is a little over 30 years. Goku starts the series at 11 and ends Z at 44(chronologically). If we say that's 33 years and this tourney takes place 10 years before the Z finale, this is about 22ish years after Goku's first tournament. He looked pretty young in that tournament, probably early 20s, so he probably in his 40s. He does look like a well kept 40 year old, but he definitely doesn't have his youthful roundness from back then

The match between Jackie and Goku is the first great fight in the entire franchise. Having the story of Goku growing up revolve around three world tournaments really gives it a solid structure that clearly showcases his growth between tournaments. Goku honestly had a complete arc in DB, and then got an entire other arc as a father that kind of peaks with Cell. First: Goku is entering the world of martial arts for the first time and Jackie Chun is determined to make sure he's inspired to keep training. Goku loses, but puts on an incredible show. Second: Goku legitimately loses in an extremely close match against a worthy opponent in his generation of fighters. Third: Goku finally becomes the champion and diffused Piccolo's evil plan. He reconnects with the girl he promised to marry and flies off into the sunset on a happy little cloud. Z: Goku is a father that has to reckon with the reason why he's so special. He sacrifices everything for his son twice and attempts to step aside for the next generation. He can't though. GT: Extreme consequences, Goku retires forever. Super: Goku is now somehow facing higher and lower stakes than ever but it's chill because he's friends with gods and he actually has some free time every now and then.

The nostalgia really do hit the announcer way back in DragonBall. I, too, will never forget all the tournament fights. I only love it because it gives Goku the potential to do his very best!.....And also the food he chows down during and after the tournament was really fun to watch!
Honestly, who doesn't want a father like Goku. You get to be the son of the strongest man in the world, which mean you will grow up to be strong too. Goku also a chill father, supportive, and won't force you to pursue something you don't want to even if he knows that you have a talent for something else. On top of all that, he'll die for you in a heartbeat. The downside isn't even matter. Sometimes he's rarely around but you know that its either because he's dead from heroic death or off training somewhere to prepare for a major threat, that and all the heroic stories he left behind should make up for the lack of him to father you around. And thanks to his genetic, you can be supporting your family with labor works that won't even make you tired but give you much like farming, so money is not really a concern. He also left you a close connection to the richest family in the world, if you don't like labor work you can always chase a career as that family employee in the future. The only "annoying" downside is having OP mom, but once you grew up that annoyance turn into appreciation anyway.
I love the fact that this guy exists. He's basically the only "normal human" outside of the main cast, that knows ki blasts exist, that flying is possible, etc. Since Goku fought in the tournaments it was like what? 30 years? People forgot really fast how strong past competitors were. But this guy is basically us! He's been there from the beginning and never forgot what actual fights look like :).
He knew they weren't human or natural but he never gets tired seeing them push the limits and show there is always a similar core the strongest share, the drive to fight and improve. That made me love the MA Announcer.
The Dragon Ball Announcer was a great character, they should've come up with a name for him as he's the archetype character for so many fighting anime and tournament arcs.
What an amazing man, to overcome your hatred and violence for the sake of your family and yourself is indeed much harder than just join in on the abuse cycle. Hopefully more dads will be like Terry.
Nobody was around to see him win, to be fair. However, I agree that they should remember him. Goku competed in 3 world tournaments and made the finals every time. They should at least be recognising him.
The anouncer is just seeing Goten just loving the fact that the spirit of the fight from the tournament is back and proud that goku is doing so well with a got wife and 2 sons. What a side character

The nostalgia really do hit the announcer way back in DragonBall. I, too, will never forget all the tournament fights. I only love it because it gives Goku the potential to do his very best!.....And also the food he chows down during and after the tournament was really fun to watch!
Honestly, who doesn't want a father like Goku. You get to be the son of the strongest man in the world, which mean you will grow up to be strong too. Goku also a chill father, supportive, and won't force you to pursue something you don't want to even if he knows that you have a talent for something else. On top of all that, he'll die for you in a heartbeat.
The downside isn't even matter. Sometimes he's rarely around but you know that its either because he's dead from heroic death or off training somewhere to prepare for a major threat, that and all the heroic stories he left behind should make up for the lack of him to father you around. And thanks to his genetic, you can be supporting your family with labor works that won't even make you tired but give you much like farming, so money is not really a concern. He also left you a close connection to the richest family in the world, if you don't like labor work you can always chase a career as that family employee in the future.
The only "annoying" downside is having OP mom, but once you grew up that annoyance turn into appreciation anyway.
I love the fact that this guy exists. He's basically the only "normal human" outside of the main cast, that knows ki blasts exist, that flying is possible, etc. Since Goku fought in the tournaments it was like what? 30 years? People forgot really fast how strong past competitors were. But this guy is basically us! He's been there from the beginning and never forgot what actual fights look like :).

I loved how he remembered one of the best fights ever in Dragon Ball when Goku, as a child, fought Master Roshi AKA Jackie Chun all those years ago
it makes me happy to know how many of love the announcer dude and think hes like one of us.
He knew they weren't human or natural but he never gets tired seeing them push the limits and show there is always a similar core the strongest share, the drive to fight and improve. That made me love the MA Announcer.

The Dragon Ball Announcer was a great character, they should've come up with a name for him as he's the archetype character for so many fighting anime and tournament arcs.

You know what really upsets me. Goku won the tournament right before Hercule made his first win. People should know who he is.
Nobody was around to see him win, to be fair. However, I agree that they should remember him. Goku competed in 3 world tournaments and made the finals every time. They should at least be recognising him.
