As someone who lives in Philadelphia I think you chose the Washington Square apartment, because it has two bedrooms and you work from home. It’s so close to where you Live now and it’s still central.
The fourth one has so much for your dollar however, I’m predicting the third apartment due to location and life convenience. I’m from Philly and live in the South. I plan to move back to the city in a few years. :) This was very helpful. Cheers!
I enjoyed your video of apartments in various neighborhoods in Philly. I do have a dream of relocating to Philly since I loved it there when I visited back in May 2023.
I don't know that Fairmount is really that far from Rittenhouse Square. I lived in Fairmount in 1988-91. I rented a large room & kitchen in a house on Corinthian street, across the street from Eastern State. I loved it because there was no row of houses on the other side, so my 3rd floor apartment got tons of light, yet I had plenty of privacy. I could leave the shades open any time I wanted, really. And quiet because there were no houses on the other side. Always plenty of parking! At the time I worked in 2 Logan Square, usually rode my bike to work in less than 15 minutes. The only drawback to that neighborhood was that at the time there was no decent grocery store nearby. I used to go over to West Philly to do my shopping! Also lived near 9th & Pine, in the early 80's.
This was great to see. I've been living abroad the past five years and will be moving back to the states in 2024. I was living in Massachusetts but I'm not doing anymore New England winters. 😉 My best friend lives in Philly and I'm debating between Philly or Columbia MD. My friend doesn't know anything about rentals as she owns a townhouse in the Manayunk area but likes the city center. People slam Philly but I love the arts scene and all it offers. I also would need two bedrooms. I work from home and need office and business storage space.
In my honest opinion that isn’t enough to be secure in an apt. If possible, try to get a second job to atleast bump that up to 1k every 2 weeks. OR get a reliable roommate. I’ve seen studios go for about 1100-1200 in Philly if you really want your own space but you need to make 3x the rent to get approved. But 2bed for like 1700 is also possible to find and split with someone else. Try looking in areas that aren’t super expensive. Meaning you won’t be in the BEST areas since they’re more sought out from people with bigger budgets.
@@sarahlynnirving Wow.... You learn something new everyday. I have never in my life seen that. I've lived in 2 states... 3 if you count my small stint in Cali... and apartment complexes always have 'model' apartments for you to tour... so that tenants are undisturbed. I wonder why that isn't done in Philly. Not saying that the Philly way is bad... it's just surprising...and I'd like to know the reason behind it.
@@Ayumi649 a model apartment would only be available in a high end complex. The vast majority of apartments in Philadelphia are row homes or mid tier multi-unit buildings, not luxury enough to have the space for a model unit.
Interesting how some people have a showing but just can't seem to find the energy to straighten up the place. Not sure how you discuss apartment costs without including utilities, parking, the list goes on...
@@sarahlynnirving If this is all about YOU finding a new place, why not say what YOU might be paying for things other than rent. That's a very important thing to know. Viewers are smart. They can then approximate based on your particular situation. It seems a major point of the video is describing what moving to a new place (whether it be you or someone else) is going to cost. Nobody rents without knowing those add-on things I mentioned. It remains interesting to me in any event how a landlord or subletter showing a nice apartment seem to ber pretty okay with the place looking like it hasn't been straightened up in a month or so, if ever.

$1650 in Fairmount for 2 bedrooms is great!!
Not bad actually, I'm moving out to Philadelphia since I know the area a bit

currently in the process of Philly apartment hunting & looking for inspo but my guess is #3!
Good luck on your search!
I love the 3rd one but the 4th one is the better deal with 2 baths and 2 bedrooms.
Second one! It’s in your fav location and larger than your current place!
I find that Fairmount/Spring Garden is excellent for people who like walking... it's just a hot and skip from center city.
I like the last one.

Best of luck as you make your decision on where to live! I love Philly so much, highly recommend 💖
I think the third one.
Love your videos, but how about showing the outside of the buildings, too… that’s a big factor while deciding.
For safety and privacy reasons I didn't show the outside because I moved into one of these ❤️
Congrats on getting one!! 🎉 Im gonna guess last one??
I think last one or the other 2 bedroom space.
Moving to Philly to attend graduate school at UPenn in a few weeks and I’m so lost on where to live 😭 I’m so picky
Congratulations and good luck! Philly is a "city of neighborhoods" and there are a lot of good ones!
How did your move go ?
@@Bored817 I didn’t!!! I ended up at UChicago instead and I’m from the Chicagoland area
I know this is an older video, but you can get a 2 bedroom in the suburbs for less than what these 1 bedrooms cost!
You can always get cheaper housing in the suburbs, but I prefer to live in the city ❤️
Good information
Love the channel am stuck between Charlotte or Philly 😅
I know this is old but Charlotte pales in comparison.
Yptu chose #3 i think
Great video
What do you do for work??
I work in the luxury beauty industry!
I make 890 every 2 weeks
Any recommends??

Wait. Youre vuewing apartments while the current tenants are still living there?
Yes, it's very common to tour an apartment while the old tenant is still living there. I was given permission to film for all of these

@@beeeb7747 many of those extra costs vary widely person to person, for example I don't have a car so parking isn't relevant.
