Hi, Steve: Glad you listened, and bought the good equalizers, and tires. The hotshot friends I have all invest in their gear, and go thousands of miles without mishaps because of that. One thing I will add is this: When working on a customers truck, you're a pro, but not really in that you don't use good quality fender covers. You wear your keyring on your pants. Can you imagine brushing against a new ram with those?, or buttons that can scratch, or how about pants that are full of grease and dirt that sit on the fenders with while working? People see this on your videos Steve. I wouldn't want someone working on my 08 baby without those covers, no matter how proficiently they work. By the way: you don't have to remember my name. All I care about is that you succeed in your business endeavours, and can take good care of your family. Michael Rzewuski
Steve, "Fluid Film", wash that trailer off and spray it with fluid film. I saw another PA RUclipsr that uses it to keep the salt from eating the metal. He shows a one year result...looks good. I enjoy your stuff. Stay well.
On an old work truck, we used quick connects for a welder to get power to a trailer mounted winch. Had the quick connects mounted under the bumper and the other side coiled up on a mount on the goose neck. Worked really good!
100% put the torsion axles on it you won’t ever have any more problems I have a 35 foot stacker that keeps 25,000 pounds on it and you can never tell if it’s empty or full rides beautifully goes over bump with easy hands down the best axle out there
Good! Replace all that stuff steven! When you set the bearing tension, 50 pounds of torque then back it off just a little bit so its not so tight. Once a month, pop those dust covers off and re-tighten that nut. The torsional forces loosen them up. You may notice a slight shake in your truck when they loosen up. Before you mount the new equilizers, bullet proof them. You will see a welded piece inside the new equalizer that the slipper side of the leaf spring rests on. Insert a bolt and weld it in place to support that piece so it dosent break again. I can send you a video if you want. Otherwise, they will keep breaking. The shock absorber kit is a great upgrade! I just dont know about the triple axle setup. E-TRAILER has the shock setup for triples. I would buy it!
Evening from uk steve I would use bit old winch cable to make 3 metre long safety cable for to secure your equipment chains and blocks etc and lock to trailer so runs thru holes and is fixed to your trailer also could not tap hole in winch and use bolt to secure then any future winch cables/ropes can just bolt on etc? Make 1 solution for future problem if occurs not multiple sulution for 1 problem. Man of your talent could knock summit up and keep budget down.
Bronze bushings are a great option .Mack trucks use bronze on their walking beams [camelbacks] especially on the older macks. I lkie torsion axles ,most of the snowmobile trailers have torsion axles.
That why maintenance maintenance maintenance is your friend and staying on greasing everything no matter if its wd40 it helps and saves money in the long run and washing is important too see stuff that is hidden under dirt and road grime....
Put the Anderson connector on the front of the trailer so you dont have all that cable hanging then connector on one end of your jumper and clamps on the other
Hey steve just a question ive got an 07.5 6.7 cummins 198k 2weeks ago cruise began not working and then horn stopped and now a intermittent airbag light on dash am assuming its the clock spring, have you ever had to replace one on these late 2000s dodge trucks
Steve I need your help I blew head gasket an I am going fix it my self but I had shop tell me if I don’t put fire wall in it they will blow again? What is fire wall? I fiqured with new head gasket an head studs it would be fine what am I missing
Probably mean fire rings. If it's a Cummins you really only need to get the head checked to make sure it's straight. If it's not the machine shop will take care of that. Then clean the engine surface up. No need for fire rings on a street truck that isn't making a ton of power. If it's a powerstroke then absolutely you'll want everything you can throw at it. I would definitely install some head studs. Xotic at the bare minimum. Preferably a good arp stud but it's not in everyone's budget.
@@CPSteveMillerall it does is tow 6.7 cummins yeah fire ring what is that ? It’s bubbling water in resovir no oil in water or no water in the oil not running hot either an not losing water I was thinking it could be egr but no white smoke an it’s not bubling bad
To say it's a head gasket is a bold assumption without proper diagnostics as well. No need for fire rings or compression rings even if it is the head gasket. I would verify everything is in working order before replacing it. If the truck is running good and you aren't losing oil or coolant I wouldn't worry about it
@@CPSteveMiller lose ing no oil or water. an there is no oil in water, or no water in oil it is just bubbling back into resovor when I cut the truck off. it’s not running hot either not even close to running hot I have been pulling 15k for 2 weeks now an it stays on 203. heater works fine if you take raditor cap off when it’s cold an you first crunk it it will. Have small bubble come up about ever 2 to 3 sec. every blown head gasket I have seen has been constant bubbles I think it’s egr because it sounds different an lost power, but they told me if it were egr it would not hold pressur after I cut it off and, it don’t after it cools down the raditor hose goes flat not flat like sucked in just as if it were empty I dunno bout drive me crazy don’t wanna get 1000 miles from home an it blow. But don’t wanna spend 3500. When I ant got to I also have leaking timing cover gasket could sticking valve make it do that it’s getting air in system some where has to be or it would not bubble
By the way: the shock kits will do just fine. Torsion axles are great if they come with the trailer, but are prohibitive pricewuse if you're retrofitting. As long as you have good equalizers , shocks and balanced tires, you're good for thousands of miles that are trouble free. Michael Rzewuski
Just a thought would it not be easier to find a Sterling 5500 around the body style you like in the dodge and still get everything you want out of the dodge? Don't know how much price difference it would be, or if there are any advantages to the different trucks. Hopefully everything goes well with the car sales.
@@CPSteveMiller also on your ratchet straps get you some bungees with the plastic ball on the end and roll them up wrap them with the bungee and put them in your tool box or a colored plastic toat so they don't get worn down by uv rays from extended exposure it'll make them last longer
And the axles...more than likely cheaper to buy a trailer with torsion axles by the time you figure in the cost of axles an time down to swap plus if you pay to have it done. Plus you done sunk 600 bucks into this current spring set up. Always went by if it aint broke dont fix it...more than likely holes were worn when you had that work done, an they didn't care an just tossed new parts on it. The stuff you ordered is serviceable...so ultimately if it wears out quickly it will be from lack of maintenance, which I Dont think you will let happen. I would stop jacking it loaded if at all possible, heck id leave it hooked to the dodge an pull in and leave a vehicle at the lot an drive that back an forth. Just an idea.
Not sure how you can say rams exhaust brake is soooo much better unless you've used the others man, GM only had a push button brake for a couple yrs now, i find myself having to throttle out of mine because it works so well, it works in conjunction with the brakes so using the brakes while its active gives you different levels of exhaust brake, being in Colorado i run the ike & vail pass regularly and the brake works excellent idk..

I use that on my trucks… works great!
Torsion axles are the bees knees I'll never buy another trailer without
Do it the right way Bro! Go with the Torsion! Do it right the first time and be done with it!... Keep up the great work.

Steve your videos are amazing thanks. God bless you
That’s a beast setup bro
If you go to the torsion bar route you'll have to stiffen the trailer Where bars go
Make a permanent snatch block in your cable...doubles your winch power an eats up a lot of line
Good idea . . . If the trailer can handle double the power.
Bronze bushings are a great option .Mack trucks use bronze on their walking beams [camelbacks] especially on the older macks. I lkie torsion axles ,most of the snowmobile trailers have torsion axles.
I love my torsion axles on my enclosed trailer. 👍🏻
How to lowes or something
They have the braided cable and you can get the locking stops as well
Clearly this movie was made before our Insta chat last night.
Thanks 👍
Try a heater control cable
Typically it’s the damn eye bushing on the leaf that’s shot

Leave those snatch blocks in tha truck!!
Why not airbags to where you can control it with your little compressor
Put the Anderson connector on the front of the trailer so you dont have all that cable hanging then connector on one end of your jumper and clamps on the other
Just put a battery at the rear of the truck, with the Anderson connections. Problem solved. Then just charge/change that one every two/three days.

Never dealt with that sort of issue. If it's doing it on and off when you're turning that'd be a guess of mine but without seeing it I wouldn't know
Outstanding.
What about using a kickdown cable, like from a 700r or so, there pretty long
I would have ground down the aluminum end on that cable so it will fit in the hole on the winch

If I’m not mistaken there are snatch blocks made specifically for your nylon rope you’re not supposed to use the ones for metal cable
