Thats not fair, I believe Kate experiences every death, every time she is grabbed, ripped apart, limbs broken she feels that, every time she’s afraid she feels that, (The best real world example I can think of is if someone being Tortured or held captive know their captures won’t kill them for whatever reason but will hurt them.) That feeling and stress of it makes people beg for death and yet for the most part we see Kate continue to press forward. Yeah as long as Kate hides 1 away she won’t die but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t suffer, it doesn’t mean her fear and pain is any less than someone elses. (So someone survives being Tortured/Captive for weeks/months/years on end and someone else says yeah they tortured you but they never wanted to kill you but they shot me and Im only alive because rescue team showed up in the nick of time so you don’t really understand fear) Its kind of a shit way to minimize Kates Trauma

Counter point: Why is he going off planet to help another world on the other side of the galaxy? Cecil was right, it's not Earth problem at best, and at worst, it's a trap.
Mark has a heart, but he rarely uses his brain. At times it's his best trait and the reason his father spared Earth, but then you have situations like when he basically doomed the multiverse with Angstrom Levy.

@ true, I think Mark just thought he needed to save them to prove to mainly himself he wasn’t becoming his dad, and his friend basically encouraged him to help them as well, so yeah he went against Cecil’s orders which was dumb. And my point mainly was Cecil was saying Mark left Earth to help his mass murdering dad when in actuality he just wanted to save the bug people, but I don’t think Cecil was wrong to call Mark out on it though for helping his dad after nonetheless.

@ he told them to go home once, and mark had nothing to apologize for because he did nothing wrong. @LagSammiches 10 часов назад +2

@@Mayan_88694 My original comment talks about the device, I agree it's messed up. Mark can be mad that Cecil lied about Sinclaire and Darkwing by omission, but reforming criminals is nothing new. How many times has Mark been around felons in the real world? Also, Mark wanted them in prison, not killed lol. Mark's hypocrisy is even pointed out by Cecil. He helped OmniMan last season. Why can't these 2 be reformed? Who made Mark the judge, jury, and executioner? Once they're in the white room, Cecil gives Mark many opportunities to stop scaring him, but Mark refuses to leave and continues to approach Cecil. I think Mark is reverting to that first interaction with his mother when he said "Make me [go to my room.]" He knows Cecil can't make him leave, so he feels entitled to his demands no matter how misguided.

I don't think Cecil forgot how he felt about working with criminals as you mentioned a couple of times, I think that he was shown through his own experience that looking at things in such a black and white way doesn't make any sense when you're in the position of being in charge of the earth's defence.
He was sent to prison to both punish and rehabilitate. He got there and all the criminals were fighting and killing each other. Within 3 years Cecil had seemingly made them all civil and not fighting. So he saw with his own eyes that reform is a thing that can be done, and now applies that to his work. And let's not forget that if he didn't do that, all of those heroes would now be dead at the hands of Doc Seismic.
Looking forward to watching the rest of the season with you gals 😊

Sure come up with your little counter measures, but don't whip it out over a heated argument. That's the doomsday button for if Mark turns evil, not a dog collar. He got one use out of it and he wasted it, alienating Mark, Eve, and half the guardians in the process. Regardless of your opinion on the original argument, you gotta admit Cecil fucked up. I think looking at the fact Nolan was on earth 20 yrs and they have no affective countermeasures proves just how powerful and dangerous Viltrumites are. So when Cecil finds something that works his first thought may have been to put it in the kid in a just in case situation. Hoping to never need it.
We as the audience know Mark will never become a villain like his alternate selfs but Cecil is a person in the world who has to assess a situation and realize as much as I may trust Mark and believe he is a good kid I need to be prepared in a worst case scenario because we never know what can change in someone's life and send them over the deepend
(you could be friends with someone for 30 yrs been friends since 10 yrs old and maybe that friend loses a their spouse and child in a car accident, while they were the one behind the wheel, you’re also injured from the accident which leads to loss of job and that sends them over the edge and they go postal) hope it never happens but most people never notice signs until its too late but for Cecil its worst if Mark goes over the end he could level a city in a few mins.
And if I didn't believe they would never allow Mark to go evil I would say Mark is scary and he only a inch from going over the edge and turning into “Injustice Superman”

Mark has been through hell and back just to show to everybody that he's not like his dad that he's not a monster, yet no matter how good Mark was or what he did to Cecil that never mattered, he looked at him as nothing else other than the son of a murderer, Cecil talks about how Mark killed Levi when he knows the dude was mentally broken and he couldn't be reasoned with but again Cecil doesn't care about how it happened only that it DID happened, Mark crossing the line and killing somebody i mean. What makes it worse is that Cecil brings actual pychos and murderers and pretend like it's no big deal, that there's no need to worry about them and yet he constantly doubts Mark and tried to find ways to get rid of him only because Cecil can't control him, that's the real issue here, if you are not under Cecil's control then you are immediatly a threath to him no matter how good of a person you are

"he looked at him as nothing else other than the son of a murderer" this logic would work if this was the real world, instead of a world with aliens with different ways of thought, as shown by thraxxans, and the part in the same scene making it an explicit point to note that if nolan were human his mannerisms would indicate lying... but different aliens have different trains of thought, for all they know, only having experienced nolan, oliver and omniman, anissa and knowing how the universe see's viltrumites... it's a fair bet to worry about violence being part of their nature... and in a world where there are beings capable of literal mind control who could use him as a weapon, imagine someone took over your mind and forced you to tear apart everyone you cared about? wouldn't you want them to have contingency's against you even if they trust you? and even if there wasn't mind control there's still no promise someone won't snap, as cecil said "bad guys can reform, and good guys can forget what they're fighting for" and good guys can snap, you understand how much precautions are placed on nukes? it's a damn lot. now imagine that nuke but bigger and in the control of an emotionally unstable and traumatized teenager full of hormones and without much life experience.
if you hypothetically had the singular key to a nuke and i introduce you to a teenager with emotional issues, hormones, daddy issues, and way, way more who's already shown he can compromise his morals if he gets angry enough... would you trust him with that key?

I would've even been ok with some kind of speaker weapon, there's the argument that that wasn't just for Mark..but for any Viltrumite invaders. But putting a torture device inside of Mark while he's unconscious...there's no defending that. At that point he lost pretty much any chance he had of de-escalating the situation, and if he's as smart as he's portrayed he should have known that before he hit the button.

We forget Mark is still 19 he's a teenager who knows what it would take to make him go Darkside when he's willing to threaten Cecil's life so easily because he's not doing what Mark said.
