    Hey brother, it's a 68, the ignition switch is in the dash and the steering wheel is correct, I had one for ten years. Keep up the good work.

      Registration and insurance papers say 69 but I'll check vin.

    That blue 4-door is a 1968. The exterior trim and the instrument cluster give it away. It doesn’t matter what the registration and/or insurance card say. The VIN and Cowl Tag will confirm it. Check the 6th digit of the VIN:
    8 = 1968
    9= 1969 etc
    The first 2 digits stamped on the top line of the Cowl Tag next to “ST” will also tell you the year.
    68 = 1968
    69 = 1969 etc
    BTW, the windshield and rear window of a 4-door are taller than a 2-door. They won’t fit the ‘72. However, the front clip and the deck lid will. Good luck with it.
    Love the ‘74 GTO too!
    Happy Motoring!

      @@clunkersandclassics I forgot to mention, if you get the engine code stamped on the block of that 6-cylinder you can tell you if it’s a 230 or a 250. The code is stamped on the pad right where the distributer mounts. The code will look like this 0123AB. The first 4 digits are the engine assembly date and the last 2 letters are the engine application. Here are all the 1968 6-cylinder codes:
      BA - 230cid w/3-speed manual
      BB - 230cid w/3-speed manual, HD clutch and A/C
      BC - 230cid w/3-speed manual and HD clutch
      BD - 230cid w/3-speed manual and A/C
      BF - 230cid w/Powerglide
      BH - 230cid w/Powerglide and A/C
      CM - 250cid w/3-speed manual
      CN - 250cid w/3-speed manual and A/C
      CQ - 250cid w/Powerglide
      CR - 250cid w/Powerglide and A/C

    I think the 4 door used the same deck lid as a two door but I know the rear glass is different, But you said you had the rear glass, Now if the front fenders are rotted out at the bottom on that 4 door but the wheel openings are solid they're basically the same shape as the rear openings only larger. I have used front wheel openings to patch rear openings by slicing some out in areas that they were too big and then welding them back together , In fact I think you could use them to patch the 78 rear quarter too! I would use the hood from the 4 door if the front is the only rust on it, The rust on the other one would be hard to fix, Trying to patch it without warping it and and then if it's not perfect you're going to be staring at it every time you drive it! If the front edge is real bad on that hood maybe you could cut it out of the other hood to patch it with! You have enough to build a nice Nova but the 72 is a very desirable year and if you can find what you need you should have a V8 in it and if possible make it an SS clone! I know you plan to keep them but a 350 SS car is so much cooler than a 6 cylinder! You have a nice stock steering wheel and the 4 door has the stock deep dish wheels with the dog dish hubcaps that are so popular! If it was mine I would have both Novas out near the one that's being worked on so I could plan what I was going to do! My brother in law's younger brother bought a 1972 Nova ''Rally'' new that was bright yellow with black stripes and it looked pretty cool but you don't want it to look like your GTO! I like the blue similar to the blue on the 4 door wheels and all! You'll get it all figured out and I'll be watching sticking my nose in along the way!

    Great videos you’re putting out. I enjoy them a lot. I’d go with a V8 in the 2 door if that is what it was from the factory. If it was a 6 then throw the 6 you have in it. Either way it’s your car and your decision. Keep up the good work.

    I think the engine, trans, and deck lid are worth $1,000. Parts and machine shop charges to rebuild a six cylinder could easily top $1,000. The doors, bumpers, tail lights, and side marker lights can bring good money.

    In parts alone, there are parts that are no longer available, the A/C controls, looks like it might be the same for the Chevelle or Malibu that you have, also you have to check to see if the front chairs are bucket or Bench for the 2 door, one thing you should do is put the stripes on, you could put Rally Nova, or Nova SS, that steering wheel is original to the car,however in 1970 it changed, also the A/C for the newer cars, look like what you would have in the 1074 Pontiac GTO, Oldsmobile Omega, Buick Apollo, which all look like the Nova

    You need to do a video like DD speed shops Dan's been converting tri-five 4 doors cars too 2 Doors cars, I haven't seen a 4-door Nova conversion on RUclips. I think if you do yours, you'd be the first. that's a straight 4 door nova you have. it'll make for a great conversion video.

    • @clunkersandclassics
      @clunkersandclassics  2 года назад

      The roof of a tri five 2 door and 4 door are the same, so a conversion is easy. Not the case with a Nova. Way too much work and won't look right. My 4 door is a rust bucket underneath, Not worth doing anything to it. It's a parts car.
