I honestly think if they remade Sonic 06 and actually fixed everything, I think it could be a good game.
Like if they took Joshscorcher's "Fixing Sonic '06" video into consideration. Though his "Fixing Other M" video leaves me more disappointed in the actual product in question. I really want to play the "fixed" game Josh and the Autarch throw out there, and it's a shame that it doesn't exist.

I think the game is fundamentally flawed, about the only thing I can imagine them keeping is the graphics to some extent. The story itself is just stupid with Sonic falling for a human princess.

...did you just compare a Call of Duty game to a "game" that singlehandedly took down _ATARI_ and threatened the future of Video Gaming? Call of Duty might be repetitive, but at least it's more mindlessly fun than E.T. I mean, shit, we got some GREAT jokes out of CoD and the MLG twerps that build shrines of Holy Worship to it. That means it was remotely playable and able to have a fanbase!
Cod is not a bad game, it's just boring and tired. Therefore I cannot call it the worst. Fps games on general nowadays suck, but Wolfenstein The new order kicks ass! I'm also excited for the new doom. I'm a classic fps fanboy, but in terms of modern gaming genres it's gotta be sandbox
Problem with E.T. was more people didn't know how to play it. In a time when the point was to get as high as score as possible before you die. E.T. was pretty unintuitive.

I was kinda hoping to actually see Superman 64 on here. That game was broken as hell. Also, many licensed games I've played. A lot of them are pretty bad.
When I was a little kid, I played Herbie Fully Loaded on GBA. I picked it up, did one race, then sold it at a garage sale, never to be seen again. True story. It was pretty awful, but a lot of games are arguably worse. Which for an industry like video games, is pretty sad.

3) What other licensed games did you play as a kid? I had a Finding Nemo game(XBox), a game based off the Spongebob movie(Xbox), a Narnia game(GBA), a Chicken Little game(XBox),and a couple Harry Potter games(Xbox and PC). Only the Spongebob game and one of the Harry Potter games were truly good.

Desert Bus is great, it meets the premise of being a super boring game very well.
It's not bad, just a trial of persistent boredom.
Seriously speaking, Big Rigs should not be on this list. It is bad because it wasn't completed, not because it was badly programmed, and it provides lots of entertainment actually. Like speeding up to infinity and all sorts of things happening when you do that, or phasing through everything, or contemplating the fact that this game was actually released. And to put it at number 2 when you have games like Road to Hell is a bit ridiculous, to be honest.

rabbidluigi Hey after the Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric game recently, would you say this game is above/below or tied to Sonic 06 at number 10?
I'd say that sonic 06 is still the worst of the sonic games, it's only redeeming factors are, like you said, the soundtrack, and, in my opinion, the gorgeous-looking cut-scenes (the story is pretty lame though).
In terms of bad sonic games, there's also Sonic Labyrinth for the GameGear. Personally, I don't HATE that game, but it wasn't all that great, unless you liked Sonic without his speed, since Dr. Eggman stole his shoes in that one...

From everything I've been hearing about the game I guess I hit the grand slam and got everyone home at once because I got the one game that was... decent... I mean the gameplay was about the same but a found only a few glitches in my playthrough. A FEW I TELL YOU. I'm watching people play it and they're running into gamebreakers left, right, and center...
I totally agree about E.T. being at number 1. I so totally remember playing that game when I was 4 or 5 years old. And at the time I really like that game. This is going back to the mid 80s. At that age I really didn't know that E.T. was consider one of the worst games ever made. Now that I am 36 years old. I know better now at what games are good and what games are not good. And E.T. is definitely one of the worst games I ever played with in my entire life.
Poor Atari. If Atari was the father of video games, then E.T was the father dying of cancer before his children were born.

I will be honest, ET is actually kind of overhated, mainly as a result of most of the complaints being around the aftermath of it instead of the actual game itself. First of all, it was an Atari 2600 game. There are very few games on that system that still worth playing today, and it is often judged by the standards that games of nowadays have. Granted it is still crap by Atari 2600 standards but it is not hard to find Atari 2600 games that are worse. Also the thing about it being developed in only six weeks, the original King's Quest had a similar development time and that game is considered a classic.
People should also realize that it was difficult because no one read the instructions, which, unlike most games today with fancy shmancy noob modes and super guides, was actually important to being able to play the game. If you didn't read the instructions (like most kids) then you were screwed.

While that is true and the games is not good by any means, it was bad at least for a different reason than most games of the time. ET was a bad game because it was overly convoluted, while other games at the time were bad because they were overly simplistic and basic, To give credit where credit is due, it did have some things that were impressive in a technical sense for the time like an actual title theme and an ending (albeit one that makes no sense). Granted that does not mean much if the rest of the game was crap. So yeah it is a bad game, but I would not consider it the worst ever made.
VladNorris Other games on the system were good because they were simplistic and easy to pick up and play. Realize, however, that I am not defending the game E.T in any way. I can agree that the game is crap, I'm just saying...

While that does apply to most classic games on the system like space invaders, Missile Command, Adventure, Pitfall, etc. One should still keep in mind that there were a slew of terrible games released for the system as well seeing as how anyone could make them. These games either ended up being horribly programmed as well or they are ones that stop being fun after a few minutes. It is because of this same simplicity that only the best games for the system are ones that still hold up well today. Something that is considered average by Atari's standards would be considered horrible today, and by Atari Standards ET is somewhat below average. An example of a game that is bad by even Atari 2600 standards would be Karate, which makes ET look like Super Mario Bros 3.

Oh my God! That Elf Bowling totally hit me in the nostalgia feels! I had completely forgotten about that game until seeing this. I remember playing that browser game so much at school when I was a teenager, it was such a dumb game but got me through several semesters of CA1 & CA2. Thanks for the trip back down memory lane! 😁👍👊

E.T isn't as bad as it is thought to be. Just because, I don't know, a few 30 people thought it was "the worst game ever", if you work out what's happening... I don't know.
Cut the guy who made this some slack, though. He had 5 weeks to make a game based off a block - busting movie, which would have to be equally as good to get attention. *5 weeks* worth of game making is not enough time to get it just as popular as the movie. Stephen Spielberg was showed the game, and he approved of it, so it wasn't the game maker's fault that it was such a flop. The guy who made it was given the task because he had made such good work of the Indiana Jones game, but there was alot more to work off for that, considering the movie just *asked* for a platformer (it was pretty clear that, with the adventurous style of the movie, platforming would be the obvious choice).
"Rapelay" - a game the encourages the rape and molestation of a woman and her two daughters, with points being awarded for how stealthfully you do the filthy deed, and game over being if you impregnate one of the women, or if your stamina reaches zero during a rape.
A disgusting, putrid, hellscape of a game that shouldn't even f-ing exist. That's my pick for worst game of all time.
Yes, the concept of the game is horrid and vile, that's very agreeable, but I'd say it "encourages" rape as much as Mortal Kombat "encourages" ripping people's spines/organs/etc. out of their body, how Grand Theft Auto "encourages" stealing cars and robbing banks, and how Call of Duty "encourages" people to shoot people for flat entertainment. Which is not at all. (At least they try not to...)
Now don't get me wrong, rape is an awful thing and I'm not trying to defend it (nor would anyone who's got decent morals), but a good search through the internet and you'll find lots of hentai, flash games, rule 34, etc. that involve depictions of rape or similar stuff. Heck, the only difference I see between Rapelay and a well-made adult flash game in Newgrounds is that one has more notoriety than the other.
Plus, this is a list about games that are incomplete, are ridiculous in concept, poorly executed, or any combination of the 3. From what I hear about Rapelay, as a morally disgusting concept is it is, you don't hear anything about it's poor programming or shoddy work. (Then again, if people did complain about that, it probably wouldn't have gotten the attention it did.)

Okay... Sorry, but I can't take this into account. It's honestly kinda hard to swallow. How would someone put Sonic 06 in the same list as the ET game? And WHY?? I mean, I admit FREELY that Sonic 06 is riddled with glitches, but at the very least the story WAS enjoyable, and while it was a bit off-line for a Sonic game, it still presented a bigger scale and bigger risks for the characters some people grew up with. It has TONS of pros, but putting him in the same list as the game that caused the Crash is just mind-boggling. Sonic 06 isn't THAT awful, and definitely not meant to be so despised. Dare I say, it's perhaps underrated. I'm not saying it isn't bad and that everything Sonic-related is golden (Shadow the Hedgehog the video game can go die in bullet hell) but what I ask is a review of listing.
1: the game that *partially* caused the crash and 2: I would've expected Superman 64 or something along those lines but hey, opinions.

I haven't seen the vid yet. sonic 06 has to be SOMEWHERE on this list.
yeah I already knew 06 was gonna be low because at the worst it only almost killed a good title character...but by that time... sonic was slowly dieing...the 3d sonic games at the time (and this is a fan of the SA games and heroes) got sloppy and there were problems, mechanics wise in shadow the hedgehog and I saw shadow design wise very similar to 06 but inferior to heroes (which is an average game) oh and bubsy...was maded by the same people that made superman 64
SuperGamefreak18 Sonic 06 didn't kill the franchise as one game, it finished it off. Luckily, SEGA tried once more with Sonic Unleashed, and thankfully, it saved Sonic. Colors then made the series 100% better.
To the commenter who believes all of the 3D Sonic games sucked, look no further than Sonic Unleashed. IT'S A DAMM GOOD GAME.

I knew number 1 would be E.T. That game was atrocious because it failed at being BASED off of a classic. Not only that but it just failed overall. It's one of those games that have you think: "Were the creators of this mentally handicapped?" (Sorry if that sound offensive.) The game failed because the physics of the game seem like they're not really there or aren't working for that matter. Even broken game can be fun (exploiting glitches has value, specially if they require a certain level of technical ability.) E.T. is on the opposite side of broken games that can be fun... It's broken and it has glitches that just happen. The glitches require no skill and with garbage physics (easily, the worst of any game I'ved played), that's pretty much the last nail in the coffin.

There's a running joke I've been hearing (and using) for a while now: When a game's total shit, just put Bethesda's name on the box, and it'll be named Game of the Year before it's E3 reveal is over. If Bethesda doesn't say anything, you'll get away with it, because people won't be able to tell the difference.

I ended up accidentally buying Ninjabreadman on the Wii. And it was so bad that I tired to sell it but nobody else wanted it. I was stuck with that abomination of a game for years before I finally got rid of it.

But Bubsy had 6 games. Bubsy 1, 2, 3D, Fractured furry tales, Bubsy 1 PC and Bubsy 2 for Gameboy.
Bubsy had 4 games, (1 and 2 being on the SNES/Sega Genesis) the third being on the Atari Jaguar and Bubsy 3D on the PS1, all other Bubsy games are ports of one of these.

Honestly, E.T. isn't even that bad. Don't get me wrong, it sucks, but it's hardly the absolute worst. Even the reputation it has is blown out of proportion. No, it didn't single-handedly cause the video game crash of '83. It was really the over saturation of the market. Everyone and their cousin was making a video game console, unlike how we just have three choices now. You could compare this to the rise and fall of rhythm games in the mid-to-late-2000's. They sold like hot cakes for a while, but after they started making several games per year, everyone just got sick of them.
+TANMAC43 Not to mention E.T. was coded by a single person. ONE PERSON. And its functional despite the fact the movie company only gave them a couple weeks to work on it. Comments like the ones this video made ruined this man's career because the game he made is the only game held responsible for the video game crash when it was a million things adding up. Atari was already having trouble before E.T. was a sparkle in anyone's eye. He was a great game programmer and despite E.T. faults it shows how talented he really was! But no, E.T. is the worst game ever even though we know it was only worked on for a few weeks.
Luckily he found another job he loves.

The infinite speed bug in Big Rigs is a similar bug to one I once made a long time ago, The difference is:
1. I was a total amateur, messing about in GameMaker, and they were (supposedly) professionals
2. My little projects that included the bug were never even games - just experiments
3. It took me no time at all to spot, and fix the bug, and I was just a kid - these adults couldn't even get it done for release!

In a way, E.T. did become a catalyst for future movie tie-in games. By that I mean, most movie tie-in games tend to suck, and E.T. is easily one of the best examples.
Why big rigs sucks:
1. Driving up 90 degree inclines makes you go FASTER.
2. No collision. You can drive through anything!
3. You're... Winner?
4. The trucks your supposed to be racing don't move.
5. The cops supposed to be chasing you don't exist.
6. Driving backwards makes you go FASTER.
7. Your speedometer can go on infinitely.

Stand in the corner with the divorce paper and a plane ticket for 5 minutes - 10 minutes and press a to make a tornado pick you up and send you to a mundane location where you must play the shamanlawn 5 times to make the wall crack requiring you to place a soda can in the hole to blow up the wall to get the treasure.

I know it's an old game and not worth crying about but now that I look back at it, It truly was a piece of crap. It singlehandly destroyed a fanbase, a beloved character, and almost the series. ET definitely makes sense as the worst game of all time in a way, basically it’s the game that had the worst impact on the industry even if there are technically worse games when judged in a vacuum. Kinda like how crack is considered the most harmful drug by some due to its impact on society as a whole even if harder drugs exist
