Future here. Here in the current year, modern mid-range single GPU cards take 2x8 pin connectors and are considered low power. Also I use this PSU for I dont know how many years and I love it
I also want to mention that I like how Linus talks about aesthetics of computers as being important, because I feel the same way. When you can see all the parts in a window case, I think they should look good together. That whole concept influenced my lighting scheme.
I've been using this for almost 2 years, it has run 4 hdds, 6 fans and two overclocked 4850's, 4x2gb pc2-8500, e8400 @ 4ghz+ overclocked and stayed cool and quiet no matter what I throw at it.
Wow. We can really see how much LTT has grown from then to now (2021)! But Linus still retains his same exact voice, style of presentation and looks. Awesome!
@ It will work just fine. I have a core i7 980x @ 4 ghz and an overclocked 5870 on that psu.My PC never goes above 300 Watt AC Power usage anyhow. If you plan on getting a second video card, you should go for a higher wattage psu.
@Technofan23 5770s don't use a 6 pin and an 8 pin each which is what u said in your first comment. If you were goina use an 6 pin + 8 pin GFX card (like a GTX 285) then i'm not sure a 500 watt PSU would be sufficient
On my 4th built, with ryzen 7 2700x and vega64. Bought it used in 2012 on ebay and still running great. Newer go cheap on PSU, arguably the most important component of PC.
exactly, here the 570 costs around 40 eur more, but from the reviews i have seen you get the same performance. with an advanced cooling from HAWK, it seems like a good deal for me. dual sli 560 have a pricetag around 580 but to be honest, im not spending so much money for my pc. the whole thing cost me around 740 eur and it should be enough for at least 3 years of gaming.
hm 500 watts are ok too. running a 5870, a p2x4 965, m4a79xtd-evo, 4gb gskill ripjaws, 1 hdd, 1 dvd-drive, 3x 140mm fan, a 120mm fan and a coolermaster v8 on a coolermaster m520. The whole system needs like 350 watts, so there is still room to work
@jjgamepro16 Borrowing this quote from a review on the TX650 model: "You have to use a paperclip, jumping the green wire with any black wire, to make the fan on the psu power up. look it up on you tube, or go to corsair's website for further instructions." hope this helps
@northmahri actually, the 580 is twice the price of 560ti hawk here in my country so its kind of not a good deal.. finally i decided to go for this psu, and maybe, only maybe, in future when i will plan to go for another 560 ill go for something like the corsair tx750m, cause i like modular cabling.
No. A single GTX 580 requires a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCI power connector so two cards need 2x 6-pin and 2x 8-pin. This power supply only has 2x 6+2 pin connectors. Besides, the power output wouldn't be enough anyway. Corsair TX 750 has 4x 6+2 pin connectors so that would be the bare minimum that you need.
Looks like I made the right choice choosing my 650tx. That's exactly what u want to do with mine. The only downside is that it's a to mounted psu and mine is on the bottom, all this means is the sticker is the wrond way around and the 8pin CPU cable is a bit of a tight fit in bigger cases.
@misthafly I dont kow what brands you have in your country. I would say chieftec ctg 550 80p. But you can buy the tx650 as well, you could put another 5850 in your system later on. Iam just saying, you dont necesssrily need 650w for single gpu, but the tx650 is a great price/value psu.
@JibJabJabs This power supply would be more then sufficient for that build. Only reason you would want anything higher is if you are running a crossfire or SLI system. I'm running a Cooler Master 650w, on about the same system actually, just I have only 8Gigs of ram.
This Corsair v1 is seasonic inside. I have tx650w v1 from 2008. I put 2 gtx295 on it, qx6850 at 5300mhz, lol. Now i have fx8350, ati 6970,and it's an breeze for this post source. It give almost 1000w in LOAD.
get an ax850 or 850hx. if you're just going to oc cpu (i5 2500k or i7 2600k) and not the gpus, you could probably get by with a gold rated 750 watt or a 750hx (pretty much a gold rated psu).
it only has two PCIE connectors. I would get a XFX750 / TX750W for two 560ti / 6950 with 4 PCIE connectors. This PSU will power any single GPU easily though.
im thinking exactly the same thing, but i would recommend that you get the MSI GTX 670 Power Edition. It has much better coolers and is about 10% faster. And it really isnt that much more expensive
Is it ok if my PSU fan is not running? I have a CM HAF 922 case so it sucks air from below the case. I guess the room temp is right for it. I'm so happy with this PSU BTW
Question for you guys: I have had this PSU since 2009, never had any problems with it. About to buy a new gaming pc so should I harvest it or buy a new one instead? :)
@AznJoltz if i were you i wouldnt get the second gen cpus just yet. considering how they were retracted by intel not too long ago and i dont think they have a "proper" fix yet. also if you google power supply calculator it can figure it out for you :)
I have the Power Supply and I just realized that the fan is NOT running. There is a PWR Fan port on the motherboard thats got 3 pins. I don't see any 3 pin connector on this power supply. What should I do?
I have a big prob with the PSU. I've just build my rig an after an hour of running I started to smell this funny buring smell. I thought it might of been the cpu at first but then noticed the melted unused cables of the psu that I put to one side in this case. Is this a factory fault? Shud I not have bundled them together to one side or what any advice will be much apreciated. Also my computer wont turn on now, is there some sort of fuse within the power supply?
i just have a question, does it have long Wires?, cus in the XFX XXX 650W Powersupply doesnt have Long wires enough it doesnt support full tower, so i dont want to make a Mistake Again Does this supply Support Long wires, i dont want short cus im buying a full tower.. please reply!

@northmahri exactly, hehe :) by the way, do you prefer modular cabling when talking about PSUs? i heard some pros and cons, dont really understand the cons though.

Building my first gaming pc in 2020 and getting the help from Linus from a decade ago. That is amazing.
Future here. Here in the current year, modern mid-range single GPU cards take 2x8 pin connectors and are considered low power. Also I use this PSU for I dont know how many years and I love it
Mine is still working since 2011. No fan lubrication was needed. The best brand.
This is the PSU that I actually have inside my computer. I Love Corsair PSU's.
Is it still going strong ??
@@kinkykane0607 Yes
I am still rocking that TX650 PSU :)
Wow

I got 4870x2 running on this power supply. NO problems what so ever. So happy i bought it (Y)..
@Smoblikatt That XFX has no OCP, other than that its a very good psu, can easily be used as a 700W psu.
@Technofan23 5770s don't use a 6 pin and an 8 pin each which is what u said in your first comment. If you were goina use an 6 pin + 8 pin GFX card (like a GTX 285) then i'm not sure a 500 watt PSU would be sufficient

@SavaMarkovicPilot a good 750w would be prefer but you could pull it off on a 650w depending on your system.

im thinking exactly the same thing, but i would recommend that you get the MSI GTX 670 Power Edition. It has much better coolers and is about 10% faster. And it really isnt that much more expensive
@AreleEvE not always, there are some good cheap power supplies out there, corsair tends to be in the overpriced category.
i have one this power supply and would only recommened it a case where the power supply is in the top because the sata connecttions will be a pain.
I have the Corsair HX 1000Watt psu,and it's working awesome!
@Technofan23 just because it has the connectors doesn't mean it can handle two graphics cards. What PSU do you have?
@sup3rto4st3r The HX version has modulair cables, the TX version doesn´t have that.
Is it ok if my PSU fan is not running? I have a CM HAF 922 case so it sucks air from below the case. I guess the room temp is right for it. I'm so happy with this PSU BTW
did u listen he said for mid range or single gpu systems it is good but if you hav 2 it wont be enough depends on wat you want to power
is this is the old tx650, cuz i believe the new tx650 they sell now uses a 140mm fan and looks different.
@esraretin M is modular and will fit 6850 cfx
how do you know if the power supply your getting is enough for your gaming setup build?

guys, dont forget thermaltake and antec they also make nice power supply.
Well, this video was uploaded about two years ago, so if they made a new TX650 since then, I would assume so :)
@TheCanadian316 Yes they will run flawlessly.
I got a 850w version. Running dual MSI Radeon HD 6950 Twin Frozer III GPUS It's smooth
the way to go is corsair :P
650 = sli
850 = tri sli
and this for an awesome price
@MrJonahRambo lol I found but looked for hours it was with the 8 pin I just had to split the two! It's just I've never had that situation...
@Knightinator modular is usually slightly more expensive. Other than that... Go modular lol
@Domowoi2 what he said and i am running the 950w which is quiet as hell aswell
You need to look to form it has;like ATX fits in a ATX case
I have the Power Supply and I just realized that the fan is NOT running. There is a PWR Fan port on the motherboard thats got 3 pins. I don't see any 3 pin connector on this power supply. What should I do?
how is it any different? if it will last long then it means it has good build quality which means it is good, do you have one though?..
