Tbh, I think they could bring this red sky thingie back somehow. Like in the next tmnt show they just have some sorta apocalyptic arc happening and they make the sky red to refrence the show.
The Red Sky seasons were pretty all right, but I hate how the show stripped away key aspects of its personality just to match what theor competitors were doing at the time (Darker-toned shows as mentioned here, and swapping out the main antagonist, as Power Rangers did.) It just kinda made the Red Sky era just a worse version of other cartoons at the time.
I'd have to see it, cause it always depends on how the show is written, but to me it gets boring if the same people are fighting after too much time. New enemies and evolving threats can be a good thing for the drama.
My mother once shoved me in a room, I had pink eye and she only had the dvd for the 1987 ninja turtles. I spent a week straight eating candy and watching the 1987 ninja turtles.

Unfortunately, I was like 12 or 13 when it came back on. But the original show was amazing!
After Power Rangers started airing, i pretty much exclusively watch Fox Kids. after a couple years, i rediscovered TMNT on CBS, only to find the show had completely changed. The sky was all red, the villain was different, Mikey no longer used nunchucks… I watched a couple episodes, I think. Many years later I picked up a DVD of the first season and it included the last four episodes of the series as well. It was difficult for me to connect with, as I didn't know the history leading up to the climactic battle, but still interesting to see
The removal of Mikey’s nunchucks was applied back in season 4 because they were deemed imitatable and banned in many places in Europe at the time, even in cartoons. Because no kid has ever picked up a stick and pretended it was a sword, right? Or, you know, DONATELLO’S ACTUAL STICK?!
Season 9 was the most bizarre one. They added a new main antagonist since Power Rangers did the same around that time and gave the Turtles new mutation powers as well as a new human companion who can ALSO turn big mutant like the turtles.
Yeah I never could get into that season that much, liked it but I didn't love it. But every season before that including the very first season of red sky I still Iove to this day
I have seen these seasons, and despite everything, i really like them. It makes the show more like the Mirage comics and honestly no offense, but i say the red sky seasons are what this show should've been from the start.

The Red Sky seasons are the best in the series in terms of writing and plot. TMNT has always been better when closer to the source material. The 1990 movie and the 2003 TMNT series are proof of this.
yeah, but until Shredder and Krang had the Technodrome at their disposal, let's say that they "took it easy". They did not worry too much about losing because their main base and their technology were always there to help them anyway in every plan they made and so they were a bit too much relaxed against the Turtles and could afford to have fun as villains arguing with each others too. Notice that after the Technodrome is back in Dimension X and Shredder, Krang, Rocksteady and Bebop are stranded on Earth alone and with basically nothing alongside them, they immediately become very dangerous and serious about dealing with the Turtles in the Red Sky seasons because they realised the Turtles could have defeated them once and for all at that point.
Unpopular opinion the red sky seasons are good amd massively underrated there were a few duds but the og series had more dud episodes than that imho i hope someone brings more attention to it that and the 03 series were some of the best tmnt has to offer

Naw they always nerf & end everything that Can be imitated. & Promote what's impossible. That's the truth. They don't want people growing up to train to be like Shinobi. The people who run the world are a fearful sort. Their lives are all they have & they know that the end takes all from them & leaves them with anguish.

I wanted to like tge red sky because at the time i was a teenager but i just didn't like it because they mutated them into giant monsters plus I hated the new guy. Instead of replacing Shredder and Krang with i think hus name was dreg, i wish they had just made shredder and krang serious villain instead of letting them stay goofy comic relief

The changes were too jarring for me as a kid. The mutations into giant ugly turtles, the weird new characters and the strange and weird villain motivations made it hard for me to get into.
They ran so much reruns You can tell the difference between which season on tv you watching just by the theme song. Lol. Always a classic in my heart. Especially the first couple seasons. S1-5 eps 😢 But it picks u in season 2 on up.
I enjoyed the final seasons gritty look but I hated the grapple hook Michaelangelo was stuck using , they should've given Mikey tonfa sticks to replace his nunckuku , instead of idiotic grapple hook , , , plus Dregg sucked , , they should've had more Rat King and Mafia Boss Don Tortelli , , , ,then last two episodes bring back Shredder , , ,😎👍👍 cowabunga dudes ,
They're not exactly "dark," but they're definitely underrated.

That was the CBS Saturday morning era. I was in high school by then and that was when I checked out from watching the show.
I remember having dvds of the original tmnt episodes, and after all of the episodes were done playing this season of the show, would play.
