One super annoying recent change is that you can be standing on the front steps of the ACTUAL delivery address and it will still pop up a screen saying gps says you’re not at the delivery address. The app gps is shit and desperately needs better integration.

I have also noticed that if you pass on an order bc it doesn't pay enough, DD will hit you back with 2 lower paying orders for the same restaurant, like that is going to make it better. I turned the same order down twice and they finally bumped the pay. This proves that DD can and will pay more. If we all start turning down these low paying offers, they will have to pay more. When I say low paying, I mean $2.25 for a 4.9 mile drive for a MCD order from the WORST MCD in your area.

Having the ability to see the address while the order is coming in is crucial. There is one notorious area in my zone where it’s a mix of townhouses and huge labyrinth condos. The condos are a bear to get into the door, their customers never list the unit number, and parking outside is heavily monitored. It’s NEVER been worth it to deliver to this location. Something absolutely infuriating has happened each time I tried to bite the bullet and complete orders there.
With this new feature, if I’m unsure of the delivery spot I can pull up maps satellite view and know for sure.

I have been in the beta for the picture taking. You cannot open the sealed food bags so it is kind of silly. Also, they need to pay more for apartment complexes. The pin is ALWAYD wrong. You never get the apartment number until you accept the order. If you know the area, you may already know that is actually an apartment complex. It's always the people with the heavy orders on the 3rd floor or cannot give good directions to where they actually live that dont tip.

Yo, so true. Shout out to the apartment dwellers that come outside their apartment building to the parking lot. I don’t like people approaching my car but it is nice to see someone out front so you don’t have to figure out a building then run up and down the halls looking for the apartment. And those same third floor people could help us out by noting what area their unit is located. Or if the app asked that question to anyone that lists a unit number have the question please describe the location of your unit. For example located to the side of the first floor like one oddball apartment I’ve gotten twice. The guy hit on me and I saw the message on the dasher notifications but the chat was disabled. I had to search for his apartment. Whenever I’ve tried to call and need to reach the customer it just goes straight to voicemail. I have spam reduction on my iPhone. I noticed DoorDash calls on my phone get filtered by spam and go straight to voicemail. That’s one issue I have encountered. And then when DoorDash try’s to call me and I can’t answer it because my phone blocked it. But I get harassing spoof and robo calls that I need that feature turned on.

Some days I can easily do it but some days it’s really tough. But that’s just me. We don’t have really bad neighborhoods where I run. Little sketchy here and there but nothing bad. In my market 99.9% of restaurants use sealed bags which also hold the drinks. There's no way a dasher could be held responsible for any missing items. All we can do is ask the restaurant if it's all there.

    • @Radar4262
      @Radar4262 10 месяцев назад +2

@@Nick210 I’m not only a DD driver myself , but have also been a customer. Not all the time are the orders there unfortunately. Twice myself I had McDonald’s screw up & leave fries out or a drink even. I made sure that it didn’t fall on the driver as I understand it’s not their fault. But it does happen especially if they’re busy or someone is new. We have no way to check it so it’s up to DD to fix that problem. OR here’s another scenario where they don’t seal the bag all the way & it falls on you for that . If they form the same system of the restaurants signing to say all is there, that would cut down alot of drama for US. But it’s a free system for DD’ers to keep doing it the way they are… Along with the complaining they all do as well. Just saying.

As a Dasher, I welcome all the changes. The one thing I hope they do is let us know if we're going into high-rise communities. There's one thing I hate about a high rise is there's nowhere to park, and you don't want to park your car somewhere and come out and it's towed or ticked, all because you're making a delivery.
The other change I hope they make is where they cannot allow the customers to go in there and change the tip option to $0.00.. I feel like, if you can't afford to tip, you shouldn't be using doordash or ubereats.

most the restaurants i dash for do not include the receipts and it will end up costing more time to get them to give the receipt up, this is going to cause a delay in getting the items to the customer and the time it takes to get an order done. i spend enough time waiting on orders as it is because 90% of the restaurants do not have the food ready until 15 to 20 minutes after the pick up time. so now they are wanting us to waste more time on an order for getting the merchant to give up a receipt smh.

The delivery address thing isn't new. You've always been able to see the address during the offer. Of course you used to be able to use the widget, then they started blocking it until you accept. Since them I've always just used the map icon. Additionally, you can go as far as to pull up directions from that screen by tapping the address. It will show you the full route before you accept. However, the difficulty this creates is you end up cutting it close if you want to pull up the full route before you accept because of the limited time. I might get off the screen with 5 seconds left. No issues with the taking a photo to continue. A lot of other apps already require that and it only takes a few seconds to snap a photo. The unassign process doesn't sound much different than it has always been. Actually, what a lot of dashers don't know is you can do your unassign through the support chat screen. It will pull up automated responses and as long as you know what to press, you should be good. This, if you don't get an option to unassign after waiting 10 minutes or you want to request additional pay for waiting, this is where you should start.

I have a android Ive always been able to see the address. It helps beefsteak mileage can be misleading in bigger cities. 1.2 miles can mean 5 minutes or 11 minutes. Just depends.
    .
I've been unassigning orders that are already picked up by other dashers because here recently I got a warning that my account could be deactivated for wrongly canceling the order. I can't afford that so I unassign instead. The new unassign process will just be a hassle. I love in a city where ppl scam a lot and Dashers are no different.

Seeing the address would be great, but more important to me would be the ability to see whether a delivery is going to take me out of my delivery area. I do like that they let you know when you are in a busier area and ask if you’d like to switch. That’s a huge improvement! Also, b/c there are two different military bases where I dash, it’d be super helpful if they told you before hand that the address is on base. I had a 40+ minute delivery the other night b/c north gate was closed, (app did not know)so I had to drive all the way to south gate, then ALL THE WAY to the back of the base. 🤦‍♀️

I noticed the new "unassign" screens about a week or so ago. I had a bathroom emergency as i pulled up to the restaurant (I'm sure the females here will understand). I had not marked arrived at store but went to unassign. The screen was new so I was carefully looking for a reason that fit my situation. There is not one for bathroom break or personal issued so i clicked on the one that just was "emergency". A popup quickly came (and disappeared just as fast) that stated something about a vehicle accident, calling authories, and more that i didnt catch; and then i was logged out of my scheduled dash. I still had 4 hours to work! I was upset just a bit. I dpnt know if it was a glitch or if this is a new thing but beware.

It is something I use all the time in my area because there can be certain places I do not want to drop off at, like college campus dorms, hospital rooms or certain areas of town that may be dangerous at night. I have even declined an order because I recognized the address as a no tipper lol. I think the idea of taking the photo is to show that the receipt matches the order on your DD app, so the restaurant does not give you another customer's order by mistake. If the receipt matches the name and items, then the rest is on the restaurant. It also makes you look at the receipt to make sure it is the right order for the right person.

It seems the further away, the time is not given. Maybe it'll help to give feedback about the restaurants making us late, but I doubt it. I'd rather see an option to simply block stores that are a constant problem for us, and give a reason why. They can block us. (I was informed of this by someone that used to manage at a local restaurant and is now a Dasher) So why not the other way around? In my area, there's a Taco Bell that's a nightmare for ALL the delivery drivers here. It's in a university town and the drive thru is often backed up into the street. When the lobby is open, they just ignore the delivery driver's orders and even customers at the register to focus on drive thru and when it's closed, the drive thru wait is horrible. Orders for this store constantly come rapid fire at certain times of the night and kill your AR when you decline them all to look for better offers. The TB in my hometown, on the other hand, is awesome; keeps the lobby open for drivers, makes everything in the order received, and is on the ball. I'm pretty sure every driver would block the nightmare store if they could, and then DD would have to get the issues addressed.

Once of course you accepted the odorant. Consider the address now they don’t include the apartment number until it’s time to deliver. Why I personally don’t like that? Is I do a lot of shop and Pay which I really enjoy but Knowing if an apartment is on the fourth floor of a building where getting to each floor is literally two flights of stairs before I accept an order with a case or two of water is important to me. And trust me when I tell you if it is on the fourth floor of one of those crazy apartment buildings again not all are like that but many of the newer ones are at least around here… I am going to drop that order and a New York second, if it has two cases of water that I need to run up and down 7000 stairs unless of course the pay is through the roof.
The deal is nobody is going to drop an order. They’ve already shopped for and ready to deliver once they see a crazy apartment number.

Being able to see the address is new to me and I like it. I have not had to take a picture of a pickup or receipt. Don’t see the value there because there is no guarantee of what’s in it or or the receipt is actually there

I think doordash should make it a mandatory five-dollar tip minimal due to the fact that we put a lot of wear and tear on our vehicles and gas not only that but there are a lot of customers who treat this as a charity service and not a business

Seems to me if you take a pic of the receipt when an item that is on the receipt but not in the bag, makes it easier for the restaurant to say the Dasher took the item if the customer complains.

I love and Dash in a military town and don’t have access to base, so seeing the exact address of the customer is extremely important for me. If I can’t see that, then I would have to cancel the order completely after picking it up. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Also, in my area, they have started to give a photo from a previous successful delivery drop off. Most just show the door with food, but it has been helpful a few times already when there aren’t house numbers.

i just had an update on the app yesterday. All the changes aren't concerning to me. A recent situation: I delivered an order to a customer... Handed it TO HER! She then told DD that she never received the order. I disputed and told them she is outright lying. Also mentioned to DD that they can SEE that I WAS there... the app voice even came on when I was handing the order to the customer. So I get the bs contract violation! 😡 I have a 4.94 rating... WHY would I mess with it?!?!

You should do doordash in rural areas I literally stopped doing it because I couldn't make a profit. Sometimes I would make a profit but it was never enough to cover the days I paid to dash. I know I could've went to other location and dashed and made a profit. I have proof of paying for orders to be delivered I saved screenshots from every order

i think being able to see where I'm ending up would be helpful in avoiding apartment deliveries as those are rarely smooth. Complexes are often confusing and my bad knees can't take stairs very well. it's makes me slow going up and causes a lot of pain. Seldom does anyone ever order from the ground floor either. Now, if I find i am going to have to deliver there, I'll suck it up and do the job, but if I can avoid them, I will

I really wish we could rate our customers like when you drive for Uber. I do like the change of doordash flashing to customers to tip to get order faster , because I never take 2.25 or 3.00 orders

Drive-thru I hate when I accept an order in a damn lobby is closed. Okay the pandemic is over. And do not give me staff shortage. I have been told that managers are deliberately closing these lobbies to cut back on labor cost. Lobby closed go through drive-thru un-assign 6:36

I agree. I had a high-paying Wendy’s order come through the other night. Had to un-assign b/c lobby was closed and the drive through line was insanely long. I’ve been putting “business closed” as the un-assign reason when I get orders like this. 😅

I hate that unassigning or declining an order makes you lose an entire percent when it takes time to even gain that perfect. I shouldnt be penalized for not wanting to take an oder paying $3.75 but the ride is 7+ miles and taking fully out of my drive region.

The delivery address before you accept has been a feature for awhile its not new. But it helps to see address in the map for busy citys. You can get an idea of how bad traffic is and i cant tell you how many times using this feature has saved me from accepting a very bad delivery. Imagine a 25 min eta to only go 6 miles and then you gotta make that trip back. Also ill look at the google maps picture so i can get an idea of if im going to an apartments or houses and if theres street parking or a lot. To me these things are really important when making a decision on wether or not i should accept.

I’m a traveling DoorDash or so when I’m in a new city that part of it with a new address up there would really help me that way I could be familiarizing myself with the new city streets
