That's amazing to hear about your 90s Prada bag! It really shows how much more focus there was on quality back then. It's disappointing how modern fashion seems to prioritize profit over lasting craftsmanship.
Prada wasn’t even quality in the 00’s and the 90’s. The whole “synthetics can be luxury” owes a lot of its traction to Prada. Most of the terrible changes to luxury fashion began with Prada, from “nylon is luxury” in the 90s to its later idea that: “luxury can be made in China.” Luckily the latter hasn’t won as much traction as the former.

Mario Prada invented the highly processed saffiano leather. And as someone else pointed out, Prada charges a premium for nylon bags. I wouldn't look to Prada for value for money, at least not in materials. I'm glad to hear Fashionphile stood behind its authenticity guarantee.
Back in the day Prada had two lines. Prada and Prada Milano. Prada Milano was usually made from cheaper materials and not in Italy. For example, one of their Prada Milano sandals was made in Vietnam.
I used to buy Prada and Fendi almost exclusively (as compared to other luxury brands). The last time I bought either brand (brand new) was 10 years ago. Quality really started going down esp with Prada. I was also very dismayed when Prada started offering made in China with questionable quality. I started buying vintages and new/unknown artists just as I used to in the 90s. I still buy more luxury clothes (or vintage) because the mid range have become so bad in quality (looking at you J Crew, Max Studio, and Anthropologie) and I keep my clothes for years, even decades as I go for classic lines with unique styles.
It’s great that you’ve found a way to still enjoy luxury while being mindful of quality. Vintage and new/unknown designers often offer better craftsmanship, and it’s smart to invest in timeless, well-made pieces that last for years!

Many years ago I bought a fake silver Bvlgari ring from Fashionphile, I had the gold version for direct comparison. They accepted it back gracefully and refunded.
In 2021 I bought a Prada Galleria bag for roughly 2,100 € - I love that bag and its quality. It's a workhorse. I've really put it through the wringer and it's still in perfect shape. These days, however, that same bag retails for 3,800 € which is baffling to me. I wouldn't buy it for that kind of money, although I like it. Both of these things can be true at the same time.
if you want semi decent quality in prada you have to buy a 20-30 year old bag. they just used to be much better quality, still nothing amazing but compared to what they make today its amazing to see how far they've stooped.
Great video. I'm a new fan of your channel and I love your vibe. Also, I can't see that these two Balenciaga pieces are close enough to the *xbagy* and cute enough so it's good enough for me.
I will never understand why someone would spend so much money on one leather bag. It's absolutely ridiculous to me! Especially after watching Tanner's dissecting videos!! I will spend no more than $175 on a leather bag. Why spend more? And I prefer the minimally finished leathers. There are so many great brands out there that deliver long-lasting quality and style. They may not be as well known as the popular leather brands, but they serve me very well. ✌🏾
There are plenty of great, high-quality leather bags out there that don’t come with an inflated price tag. Minimalist designs and well-made craftsmanship often give you way more value for your money.
It was funny to hear how the bag was so underwhelming that you were almost sure it was a fake, this is crazy! Would like to see a review of small artisan Italian leathergoods manufacturer like Biagini, Viviani (pelletteriaartigiana), Buti, Officine Creative :)
From my personal experience with Prada, I've never found their products to feel like it was good quality (let alone exceptional). This was as far back as 15 years ago. This was the brand that 'marketed' nylon as a 'luxury' material since the 90s. I think maybe its purely psychological...I've known smart people who just buy into the vision and ideas of Prada...and quality is secondary to that consideration.
It’s true that Prada has built its brand more on perception than actual quality, especially with materials like nylon. For some, it’s all about the status and vision, not necessarily the craftsmanship.
I was expecting this video to be like 20 minutes long, like a mini documentary i was all excited 😅 what a great video nonetheless! So sad how cheap the bag looks for the price, and how inconsistent the experts were
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the video, even if it was shorter than expected. It’s crazy how the bag’s quality doesn’t match the price, and the expert opinions being so inconsistent only added to the confusion.
I would love for you to do if it’s good leather if you think the straps will hold up the new reverse monogram, black leather neverfull bag I would love for you to do a review on that one. I know it comes in brown as well, but I would think black would be more popular. Don don’t know. Would love for you to do a review on that one.
This is so discouraging. I’m not in the market for a designer handbag but the lack of integrity and pride displayed by Prada is so disheartening and sadly, not that unusual among sellers of many kinds of luxury goods.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the *xbagy* leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
I have been buying and selling with Fashionphile since 2010. I don’t buy pre owned from anyone else. They’re are fantastic! I have never owned a Prada bag and now I’m very turned off to ever get one. What a shame.
also I was thinking external contractors! some luxury brands actually have manufacturing in different factories and the quality would depend on that factory, for example manolo blahnik I was told the dots on the sole of the heels would show which factory it came from and one dot ones had a different shape to 3 dot ones, the 3 dot ones had a squarer shape of cut out
Had a prada bag that split on the bottom after 6 carries. It wasn't fake, as I bought it from Needless Markup 25 years ago. Prada has always been junk.
I would be like a little kid in this place. So much fabulousness! You looked like you were having a lot of fun there, Jesus. I hope you got the small Dior wicker bag. It was so cute. You're right, too *xbagy* is handbag heaven.
I got a superb black nylon rucksack from a French website last year. It looks extremely like the Prada one, but the quality is MUCH better and it will last me forever! (it was £150)
I have to speak up for the quality of Prada a bit: I own two bags of deer leather, they are soft, exquisitly made and lasted me already over 12 years. I am completely happy with the quality of these two pieces, I also own a couple Miu Miu (Miuccia Prada, the sister) with the same aspects. So no overall judgement her over Prada/ Miu Miu please! I am no fan of their highpriced nylon bags though.
You can’t compare the quality of old prada to current prada. It is pretty obvious for all luxury handbag lovers and owners that quality of all luxury handbags has detoriated heavily. So you are speaking up for the quality of old prada that no longer exists.
I have never laughed so hard. I laughed so hard that I cried. Thank you for starting my morning with such a wonderful laugh! God bless you, lovely girl! You are the best! *jklux*
Could you do a review on the Lily&Bean Hettie bag, inspired by the Hermes Kelly. I heard lots of good stuff from the brand and wanted your opinion on it due to your experience in leather.
Boss, please can you do a video of the new LV canvas please. Especially the Monogram Eclipse. The quality is shocking ive seen better on DHGate. Bought a key pouch and the print is heavily smudged in places LV do not see that as a problem. Their canvas from 1980s to 2005 was the best now its so thin and plastic.

It’s true that Prada has built its brand more on perception than actual quality, especially with materials like nylon. For some, it’s all about the status and vision, not necessarily the craftsmanship.
I stopped buying designer bags years ago. Not only the price is getting unbelievably high, the quality is going south as well
I hear you-rising prices and declining quality make it hard to justify. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
And YES, The *xbagy* Tote! I have in Candy Pink and I've been rocking my "Barbie" bag all summer. Yay!
Some heros wear leather aprons! Thank You for sharing your knowledge!
Appreciate that! Thanks for the support!
I loved your content from the first time I saw it... and the One Piece Shirt sealed my love for good haha
Thank you so much, nakama! 🤣
Frankly, I am more fascinated by luxury bag charms than the bags themselves.
@@tanner.leatherstein you’re welcome! Quality over quantity! The luxury market as a whole is such an illusion
Luxury is getting so inconsistent and poor that some bags are coming across as fake to the AI lol
Great find, I bought the Bottega knockoffs in luxrul because I liked the style but not the price of the originals, hehe!
Love this bag and got it for spring. I use it to match my outfit. I ordered it in *suluxy*
It’s really disheartening, especially when you expect more from luxury brands.
When people are saying *xbagy* ’s bag is a better option,I very much agree!
There is a sucker born every minute 😂
Wow. Well done, thanks for such a thorough investigation
You're welcome!
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the *xbagy* leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
Scam
Could you do reviews of leathershoes ? Maybe like Clarks and Loake.
I have been buying and selling with Fashionphile since 2010. I don’t buy pre owned from anyone else. They’re are fantastic! I have never owned a Prada bag and now I’m very turned off to ever get one. What a shame.
I like your videos,thank you so much!👏👏👏
To me, the *topluxs* looks more like a Victoria (Hermès). Also, I love that bag you bought! I bought it because of you.
love the one piece shirt 👀
Thank you! 🏴☠️
Could you look at the carl friedrik breifcases? they say they make hermes level leather with one less zero in the price.
Yes, it was one of my priority brands to review but didn't get the chance to review them this year :)
Why am I not surprised😊
The MOMCOCO’s Barbie Pink Chanel is fabulous!
Love from Vancouver Canada ❤
I'm just interested in that authenticity ai tool
also I was thinking external contractors! some luxury brands actually have manufacturing in different factories and the quality would depend on that factory, for example manolo blahnik I was told the dots on the sole of the heels would show which factory it came from and one dot ones had a different shape to 3 dot ones, the 3 dot ones had a squarer shape of cut out
Had a prada bag that split on the bottom after 6 carries. It wasn't fake, as I bought it from Needless Markup 25 years ago. Prada has always been junk.
Can u do a review of Italian leather bag Zanellato ty
I would be like a little kid in this place. So much fabulousness! You looked like you were having a lot of fun there, Jesus. I hope you got the small Dior wicker bag. It was so cute. You're right, too *xbagy* is handbag heaven.
please don't shoot portrait mode for non-short video please 🙏
If you somehow could, maybe get Prada’s Leather Jacket.
Is it possible that that bag was made in a sweatshop?
I would love a review of furla and pinko bags
Can I kindly ask for a version with no background music? I struggle to concentrate on the video with all the music. Thank you!
Could try mute with closed captions? 😊
I got a superb black nylon rucksack from a French website last year. It looks extremely like the Prada one, but the quality is MUCH better and it will last me forever! (it was £150)
Hi great video. You should do a video on India's Hidesign bags, authentic and veg tanned leather. I love their bags and i hope you will review them.
Pradas bags have lovely silhouettes and designs but a shame that the quality isn’t there
Thanks for your research!!! I’m disappointed in Prada
You're welcome! I totally understand your disappointment-it’s tough when a brand you expect high quality from doesn’t live up to the hype.
Would be cool if you could review bennet winch & the quality of the leather they use. Cheers!
Great suggestion! I’ll look into Bennet Winch and their leather quality soon.
Hermes the one and the only 😊❤
Great video, really informative!
Thank you!!
Amazing foresights ❤🇨🇦 I have many luxury bags. My bags that are 20+ years old are much better quality than my newer bags.
Could you test a strarthberry purse
I already did, you can check my review here: www.tannerleatherstein.com/post/strathberry
That one piece Tshirt , high fashion item ❤
Thank you!!
Thank you for the suggestion! Lily&Bean is already on my list.😊
Can you check the quality of Senreve? I just ordered their cadence handbag
I already reviewed their Fortuna bag. You can watch it here: www.tannerleatherstein.com/post/senreve
God bless you and your luxury research.
Thank you!!
Could you evaluate the Italian leather purses from Quince? Thank you!
Great suggestion! Quince Italian leather purses are on my list for review.
Can you review Chrome Hearts leather
They're on my list too! Thank you!
To me, the *amzrepe* looks more like a Victoria (Hermès). Also, I love that bag you bought! I bought it because of you.
Looks like even Prada doesn’t want a new Prada anymore
Lol my rep bags since 15 years ago have stood the test of time.
