Love pike fishing. With COVID we missed our Pike trip to northern Saskatchewan for two years in a row now. My itch needs scratched. Thanks for letting me live "Pike-ariously" through your videos!
Schick! That is a treasure trove of boxes, gear, etc behind you! I would be interested in just seeing what you all have, how it is organized and why. Keep up the great work.
My dad told me from fishing lakes up in the U.P. of Michigan the blue tint is from the methane release from underground into the lakes and that it also gives off that tea stain looking water
I really appreciate the rigging clip, that's the kind of stuff that a lot of RUclips anglers don't talk about in detail. Labor Day Classic, Let's Go RIDERS!!!
Lol, that little pike you threw back in the beginning is about the same size as my biggest pike ever!!! :-) Fun to catch at any size but dang, that 43 incher!!! Wow!
Awesome!!! Pike day for you Clayton I really enjoy small pike strikes I can see as well. Pike in the fall can be insane!!! Even a bonus walleye!!!! Nice!!!!
Clayton! I loved how you explained where to find fish in such detail as well as the rigging part of the vid. Good teachers are hard to find for a new anglers
Great video, sir! I have always meant to try exploring for pike on THAT particular lake, but I am quite nervous on new bodies of water. Lucky for me, I can live vicariously through your videos!
A good pair of cutters are also good to have incase you have hooked, been hooked or have the hook shoot out of a fish into someone. Push the hook through and snip it off below the barb allowing it to slide right of whoever its in.
Great shelving! I feel like I just put stuff anywhere and it looks more organized then it is :) ( I separate lure into categories and sometimes brands)
Pike is my all time favorite to catch, caught a 25 28 30.25 33 and a 29 today on a small lake (maybe 1/2 mile at its longest?) Would love to get to Canada some day!
As long as you're throwing Buchertail bucktails maybe you should try some of those double 10 blade bucktails like a Cowgirl or similar. 2 bigger sized blades should pull in bigger pike. Muskie anglers get big pike on those all the time.
Hopefully when I retire I can spend a couple months a year in Canada. 1 month around Ignacio Ontario, 1 month flin flon Manitoba. It’s a ways off but good to have dreams
Trolling on Lake Ontario around pickering thru oshawa close to shore will get you a lot of Pike-Remember BIG LURES (BIGGEST ) vary trolling speed slow ususaaly works best. There are HUGE PIKE in Lake Ontario / REMEMBER CATCH & RELEASE
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors I actually looked back at your video when you got your new boat. I called Koenders and mentioned you. Getting one ordered up for our new boat coming this spring 👍
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors you bet bud. Looks like a good unit. Like the front access how it opens up and goes back pretty far in the trailer. Any holes in your mesh over the past few years?
I’m guessing you were on Neso. Great pike lake. Should go across the road to the Millwater area of Athapap…world class pike water there, caught several high 40s there
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors the area right around Aberdeen Lodge and the bay by the rail road track is phenomenal. 10-14 ft cabbage with a little current flow, we’ve got lots of big fish on Shadzilla Jrs over the years there.
I was just in the boat thinking clayton is probably catching pike right now. Sheew I was right!! My dad says can never go with with a 5" 5 of diamonds spoon for big pike
Curious what rod and reel you are using is it a Shimano Curado 300? I have a 300EJ that I haven’t used it but I need to get a decent rod for it.Great content very enjoyable.
Nice dude. Try the whale swimbait by sixth sense. I love the pearl catches thier eye for sure. Trolled for lakers this morning better go pike fishn 2nite!!
claytons third fish is bigger then my biggest pike this year… biggest this year is unfortunately only 25 inches, ive tried so hard for pike here in alberta but they’re all little hammer handles, even with a savage gear hybrid pike ive only caught little 22 inchers.
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors thank you! Sorry I had typed out my comment before the end of the video where you talked about the set up. Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
Clayton I challenge you to see if you can catch giant sunfish and crappie!? I’ve never seen you put out a panfish video? Maybe you can ask Jay for help? I know he is able to catch them😂😂
Hey Clayton, I was just wondering what kind of rod you were using. Was it a medium heavy? I just bought two medium heavy rods, one is a medium heavy fast, and I have lost more fish with those two rods. Not sure if its just to heavy for the eater walleyes we typically catch. I use the medium heavies for trolling with cranks and bottom bouncers.
This was a Heavy, with a moderate-fast action. For trolling walleye you want more of a moderate action rod to really absorb the head shakes, and you don't pull or bend hooks.
Allways troll for Big Pike with Biggest Spinner Bucktail you can find-40+ Pike want a meal-sucker 2=3 lb are great or Big Perch do not play with small lures-Yeah you might get lucky but Big Pike want BIG LURES, otherwise your catching 20-30" babies
OMG... I thought I had a tonne of tackle boxes and tackle!! WOW, those shelves behind you are STACKED!!
hehe There is a little bit of tackle there :)

Are you running polarized lenses on your cameras? Watching that big eye smash that bait boatside was pretty cool
Yes I am. It helps a lot.

Tie it to the braid. You don’t want to attach it to a leader because there are just more things to go wrong

what rod are you using at the start of the video?
An older GL2 Loomis rod.
What are your thoughts on regular tail vs the paddle tail baits?
I have played with both and have done well with both of them. Thumper tails for darker water might be a better choice.
