Clayton you are a joy to watch. I am glad you are showing the world all the awesome fishing northern manitoba has to offer. I'm looking forward to seeing the big Athapap video.
Great Video Clayton! Love your promotion of fishing in MB, how to properly handle fish when caught, and your promotion of protecting our pristine waters from the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species.
Thank you Clayton. You inspire me. Watching you makes my day. Keep up the videos. Ever lose your enthusiasm. So many “professionals” always act so cold. Like it is work.
I can honestly say I have never lost the enthusiasm, and I think that comes from the guiding side of me. I have been in the industry for 20 years now and I get excited every time I am on the water or the ice :) Thank you for the kind words!!
Watching your videos enspires my to fish when life and responsibilities make it challenging watching your enthusiasm and dedication and how hard you fish by yourself gives me that little extra motivation to get out there and put the extra work in and fish thanks for sharing 👌
Watching this fall bite is getting me excited, will definitely have to make a trip to the fam in laws resort at clearwater lake to get some fat Lakers, hopefully I see you out at lake of the prairies this winter, slamming walleyes. Cheers man and thanks for the great content.
Am I the only who had a heart attack when the depth finder jumped to 1 ft? Nightmare fuel. Great vid! Love to see donkeys like that walleye (and whitefish)!
Love your videos Clayton! Days like this are the ones all of us Anglers dream of. Thanks for the videos on fishing in Manitoba. Didn't know much about it until I started watching you guys from out there :) I definitely want to make a trip there to tighten up some lines.
You sir, are a special kind of fisher! Love the upbeat pace of tracking the target lakers, but knocking off a master angler whitey and Wally in the process. Bucket list day for sure. Hope to see a couple more “soft” water vids before ice season gets going. Watching you try to vid and run the net makes me want to reach out and hold the camera for you, so you can focus on the fish. Great late season action! Tight lines, and hard bites.
Cool looking lake with tons of little islands! Lakes like that are usually great for holding Perch, Pike and Walleye, (Geez, that was a tank of a Walleye!!) with Laker's still a bit deeper I always found in Fall. Should of kept that Whitefish for the smoker or just to bake in the oven, an under appreciated sportfish. Good Luck on your quest for the "Ginormous" lunker Lake Trout, can't wait for your next video, Clayton!! Keep well!!
Man Clayton wow ! You always make the vids so enjoyable , between you ,Jay Seimens & Tom Boley ,I gotta say you my favourite ,though it would be very kool to see y'all go at it & do a video ,fishing's dream team,Lol ! Just wondering you ever fish Leech Lake Minnesota or the Hubbard county area of Minnesota ? Keep em' coming ,look forward to the next again thanks for sharing be blessed .
Love the videos Clayton! Especially loved this one as we fished Big Athapap for the second time this year. Not much luck on the Lakers but that's partly due to mostly putting around and marking reefs in hopes of getting out to the juicy stuff without issue. We started out from Cranberry this year so it was a little unnerving after a few near misses on those menacing reefs. Either way, we loved it and my wife and I are already talking about the plan for going back to Athapap this Spring...maybe even some ice fishing first?? Anyway, keep up the good work!
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors ...actually you fish most of the lakes I do as well. I'm from Melville and worked with your mom and played ball with your dad. I see you around from time to time...I'll be sure to say hi next time. Was always super interested in you mom's updates as to what you were up to as she knows I love to fish.
I'm sure we have all forgotten to put the plug in atleast once before lol .. I almost did it again last weekemd launching for a tournament.. remembered when I was backing the boat up and was right on the water line 🤣
This time of year it's strictly river steelhead for me, but mainly it's archery deer hunting. Any hunting videos coming up? What's the difference between the orange fin and white fin Lakers, do they taste the same?
There will be some hunting videos for sure this year :) In this case the different colors are just their spawn colors I believe.... They do taste the same yup
Still waiting for RUclipss algorithm to work its self out and get this channel to the millions of followers it deserves!! Another great video with honest genuine content keep it up!!!
I should take u to reindeer lake for ice fishing this winter bud just let me know if u wanna go or make plans I’ll b happy to take u out and show u some good spots for big lakers
Love the show Clayton, I'm an east coast guy (NB) love my brookies and stripers haha, your lakers are pretty glorious though, keep up the great content!

Maybe one day! Most Musky fight are quick are they not? Never seen a Musky rip out 100 feet of solid drag :) All I am saying. But ya... you know what... A 40lb Lake Trout will out fight a 40lb Musky. Gonna stick with that one... :)

I beg to differ, salmon are definitely the hardest fighting fresh water fish in North America, I fish lake Ontario, I catch salmon and lakers and lakers don't even compare to salmon
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors what kind of salmon were you catchin? The primary salmon on lake Ontario are king salmon which average around 15-20 lbs, ive had them take 500-800 foot runs before out on the boat out in 300fow

Going to attempt lakers and hopefully splake in the ducks this weekend I’m sure it’ll be a grind

Going to try and catch my first laker from shore this weekend, any tips everyone?
Large casting spoons, silver and gold colors work great

63 lb laker which stood as the world record was caught on little Athapap. Actually not very far from where you caught that first laker
I have heard that story!
Can't wait for hard water on big windy
Me too! I will be there this year!!
Awesome Awesome video!
awesome buddy!
Cheers man! Look forward to some laker pics :)
How long and what model is the E6X that you're using for casting?
I will get the stats on the rod for you, remind me again, but its a 6'6" Bass rod :)

Why not upsize to 20 or 30lb fluoro when the risk of getting piked is high?
The spoon wont move as well, and the smaller lakers I feel will be a little line shy...
little cleo all day
