Sure is a shame 261 didn't get to do much this year, though I can understand why seeing how the Friends of 261/RHOMA have been busy in Illinois with rebuilding the shop complex while alongside the UP equipment such as 3985 and many passenger cars too. Still, even if 261 only ran 1 week for Christmas this year over 2, I'm glad someone got to film it for many to watch and observe.
I'm sure it'll run more in the future, but like you stated, I bet they are busy with other projects as well. Its always a treat to see the 261 rolling down the rails. Thanks for watching!
Its good to see #MilwaukeeRoad261 running around, even if its only for a short while, and what makes this year's run special is that #MilwaukeeRoad32A is along for the ride! Great video!
0:55 Very cool that 261 has two whistles I’m wondering if the second whistle is her original 3 chime whistle that she had since her restoration back in 1993
@@SD457500 0:55 this part of the video shows a top view of 261 if you look closely behind her smokestack there’s a second whistle mounted next to her 6 chime whistle
@@SD457500 yeah that’s what I meant I’m wondering if that second whistle is her original 3 chime whistle I wonder why the friends of the 261 seldom use it they frequently use her 6 chime whistle a lot more
It's the 261's original whistle it was built with. It's a horrible sounding whistle, which is why the 6 chime Santa Fe whistle is the one used. The original three chime whistle functions via air actuation just like an air horn, which means one setting: full blast. It gets used here and there, but mainly the 6 chime and air horn.
man seeing the steam locomotive moving by itself down the main is such an odd sight, especially at night.
Glad you liked those clips! Steam at night, in the cold is something else. Thank you for watching!
261 is easily one of the best looking steamers ever. Streamlined and non-streamlined, the Milwaukee Road had some fabulous looking steamers.
I’ve always loved the 261s whistle ever since I was little by watching ever single old video
That makes two of us; especially when it echo's back in places. :D Thank you for watching!
Alot of history with these locomotives, keep bringing the videos . History from yesteryear.
Glad you enjoyed the video, and little facts I sprinkled in during the video. Thank you for the comment, and watching!
That meet with 7013 was pretty cool! Excellent drone coverage, and it was neat to see it at night as well
Thanks a lot; the meet and night shots were some of my favorites. I appreciate the comment!

Absolutely wonderful video production!
Many thanks, and wonderful to hear you enjoyed it! I appreciate the kind words. :D
Nice video.
Many thanks, and glad you enjoyed it!
Great catches and awesome video
Thank you very much! Seeing steam in the cold of winter is soooo neat, and I wish it happened more often.
She looks good! Beautiful shots and great commentary. It's not very often you see her running light.

I might get to see 261 in December
Good luck! Hopefully it works out for you; thanks for watching!
@@SD457500You bet I sure will
Goodness I wish I would have been out there more but college was in the way. Oh well. At least I was still able to catch it at the depot.
7:23 i love this whistle
I totally bet any seniors say
Hey is it the 1940s already ?
More 261!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nailed it! I made a point to get and capture this; hope you enjoyed it.

You talking about in the video, or in general? The other horn heard in the video was from the E9 as it got on the move. Thanks for watching!

NO WAY THE WHISTLE I LOVE IS BACK ON 261 SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF WHISTLE THIS IS I LOVE THIS RYPE OF WH5
It’s an ATSF 6 chime, it’s used commonly on 3751, 2926, and 3415 which are all Santa Fe engines.
Very nice! Around what time did 261 leave the shops for the St Paul Union Depot?
When this was shot last year, it was roughly around 11am or so. I'm not sure when they'll run down this year though.
Schenectady NY is pronounced Ska neck tady
Whoops, my bad on that one! Thank you for the clarity with it.

That is correct; the 261 is part of that group.
