It’s even more sad knowing that Pam St Clement didn’t want to be killed off, she just wanted to have a break and possibly come back. The writers really made a mistake with this storyline, especially now there are no more matriarch characters left in this show who were there from the early years of Eastenders

Eastenders were wrong to kill her off. Pam only wanted time off but they refused.

They killed off Tiffany, Roy, Barry and Pat for wanting time off. They gave Phil time off all the time.
Don't worry they'll concoct a way to bring her back.

David did always love his mum
And Pat always loved him
He was just never there though, always used to run away all the time. But I’m half he was here and his acting was great
@@doom999ish he was never there because he learnt from the best. His mum abandoned him and his brother when they were kids so she could play streetwalker at night. David learnt to run away from his problems because that’s exactly what pat used to do

@@RockApe_ but she put food on the table what was she suppose to do, infact Back in the 60s and 70s it was very very common for women single mothers to go on the game as there wasn’t benefits and when it came about it was hardly anything so streetwalking was an easy option, both my Nans did it in there late 60s & early 70s infact a lot of Women from the “lower class” that are pats age or and my nans age were prostitutes it’s just not spoken about it’s hush hush something you don’t mention but lots of women did it back then lots

I remember watching Pat when eastenders first kinda started and always knew she would be a long time member. It’s strange how we all grow up seeing these on our TVs in our front rooms at Xmas New Years and when they pass away it’s like a real family member has passed. The power of tv and acting eh ? Eastenders had its prime it’s now dead and it’s a shame. Glad I grew up watching it though, nothing beat sitting eating Xmas dinner and having EE on the box back in the 80’s and 90’s
Couldn't they have given Pat a happy ending after all her trials and tribulations over the years it would have been a pleasant change to see a character leaving on a positive note ,
Pat died really quick though, 2 days or something like that after her diagnosis.
Illness can take you quicker then you think.
Look at COVID-19.
Some people die just hours after contracting it.

It’s more out of shock and almost disbelief and grief when they clearly state the obvious that the person is dead.
If she didn’t get killed off in 2012, it would’ve been sometime now anyway, because Peggy was written off in 2016, and Dot left in 2019. So I think it works

Soon as you forgiving a dying person they die cause they feel everything is concluded so tell them you don’t forgive them so they have something to live for..to work on your relationship

Minus Derek it was a beautiful send off (still shouldn’t have happened). I do think it should have been Janine who got the last moments with Pat, they had a far deeper and more complex relationship.

Alanson harris but they were only on screen together for three years. Janine and Pats relationship was on screen for 30 years and iconic. It was always Pat and Janine.

I think what happened was Peggy was hallucinating and was imagining that Pat was there. Because ever since Peggy dies no one sees Pat again.
