High priced audiophile equipment is like Chiropractic medicine, most of it makes no sense but people still believe it does something because they want to.
I have two great audiophiles friends. The first one have exchanged their hi-end set up many times in seven years. The second friend still have the same set up tube based all that time. The first one is ever unsatisfied. The second is satisfied. One of them do not trust in his musical perception anymore. He became a person that needs to somebody who tell him what is good sounding. Who is the happiest?
even though i have 15,000.oo wrapped up in my ht/music system and am very happy with it, i still miss the old vintage days, but of course that also explains why i like old 40's 50's 60's and 70's cars too !!!!! the old vintage pioneer and sansui .
I have been able to derive as much enjoyment from well selected, tweaked out classic vintage components as much or more than modern giga-buck toys found in snooty audio salons and high end trade shows.
Can anyone tell me the brand and model of the speakers at 00:25? I want to design my next DIY floor standers' cabinets based on those. They're exactly the look I've been trying to draw up.
Simplemente es increible como el ser humano se a capacitado para crear todas esta maravillas, y las que pueden llegar a venir E S P EC T A C U L A R, AMO EL BUEN AUDIO.........
I've heard a lot of these systems. I have to say my favorite was the MBL's at 2:26, both impressive looking and amazing sound. Lots of dream equipment here though.
The speakers at 2:25 and 3:15 (ending shot) are a pair that I would really LOVE to hear sometime! I've read a review of them before which had stated that they were (arguably) the "best overall speakers we've ever heard", and that they apparently "completely disappeared" in the acoustic space, only leaving the "live performance all around and in front of you", like you were actually there and you could "reach out and touch each instrument and singer"!... That would be awesome, and as sound reproduction *should* be, ideally, I think!
@latribe Actually; in terms of detail, transparency and life-like realism I don't consider Tannoy or Lowther to be remotely in the same class as the MBL 101s or an assortment of good electrostatics. I have heard the MBLs a few times and they are a cut beyond paper coned box speakers. I just wish they weren't so damned expensive.
Dynaudio!!! :) Io questo marchio lo conosco molto bene... nell' impianto hi-fi della mia auto uso una coppia di tweeter della Dynaudio ed uno come canale centrale... suonano veramente bene.. ovvio che li uso solo d'ascolto...
Dear wyxter: I wrote you some minutes ago and on my comments maybe I´m wrong and this version, as I notice, is sing by the well known Willie Nelson. Sorry, Capezio - Vitória ES Brasil
@sweetsweatyfeet It doesn't have to be ultra expensive. Little can beat Lowther, the BIG Tannoys or for near-field Manger - all signoificantly less money than at least one of the speakers on this video
Somewhere on you tube there is a vid of the making of those bellows type speakers. People were shocked to see such high tech tools like toothpicks were used to assemble them. Oh boy, pouring the fluid that cools the coil?..by one very steady hand. Nope, not a machine.
I ordered a catalog from MBL which has a bunch of their setups that you can order. They start at about $30kUSD and top out at just under $1million USD.
I get it... but with all these equipment, does it sound better than being there? I think you can buy the artist so s/he can play in your room live for the rest of your life and still come out ahead with how much some of these systems cost.
@23chilled Cool then... i guess its all up to the listener. And no i do not have extremely expensive speakers but there decent. Ive got a 7.2 Focal system. You could probably appreciate one of my subs though.. its an older Miller and Kreisel.
There's always gonna be rich and poor people, excesses and shortages. That's just the way it is. Sure I want to be rich and be able to afford luxuries and maybe own some of this high end equipment. But I can't so I settle for a cheap TEAC V-95RX cassette deck, An Akai GX-747 Reel to Reel deck and a pair of Polk RTA 11t speakers. This stuff is 25 years old but still sounds good.
Focal-JMlab Grande Utopia EM, and i've read the most negative reviews about these speakers, they cost WAY too much for their sound. I've heard some it's smaller brothers (Scala Utopia and Diablo Utopia) and they both didn't sound like how such expensive speakers should sound. (bad driver integration, lack definition)
if more high end went factory direct it would allow more people to experience it, the only real need for high end retailers/installers should be for multichannel preamp home theater processors and room treatment issues, the rest (speakers, amps, subs, cables, flatscreen & source components) is pretty fundemental common sense,
I once heard a system that would make all these sound crap, Once upon a time in a universe long ago, people actually cared more for quality than money as its just a buiesness today and during the experiementation and understanding of sound, they made a system that has never been beaten or ever got close to. Very lucky few has heard these system, it's not marketed but like a protatype, there is very little of them. All I can say is the sound is beyound words and perfect does exist. I heard it.
@sweetsweatyfeet A pair of Magnepan 3.6, wyred4sound SX-1000 monoblocks and an Oppo universal player and you are living the audiophile dream for under 5K total. There is still hope brother.
i think high end is awsome to a point, i just bought a 1,000.oo crown amp that sounds better than my 3,600.oo dollar bryston amp (4b sst) the crown sounds better than my anthem amp, it also sounds better than my parasound amp and it sounds better than my old adcom,
It never had a name and was specially built by the big companies who own the music industry in order to achieve what it's designed to do :P. Had no name written on it. Its not marketed mate.
i am looking new matching subs for the front, have not decided on sealed or ported, i have epic, rythmic, svs, elemental designs, jL, paradigm, hsu on my list, i am not in a hurry.
When I was in high school people called the girl that got a new BMW for her first car a spoiled little bitch. Her Dad was a doctor who made about three hundred thousand a year . But when the gardner that made about 25000 a year gave his kid a 2500 dollar used car everyone was so impressed that he did not spoil her..

The singer is a veteran folk singer and a DJ now is working in Radio HK named Albert Au.
a fantastic song sung beautifully. ....thanks
Wow, super collection fantastic ❤️🙏❤️
Can anyone tell me the brand and model of the speakers at 00:25? I want to design my next DIY floor standers' cabinets based on those. They're exactly the look I've been trying to draw up.
The speakers are TAD by Pioneer tad-labs.com
Thank you.

What is this music? artist?
Excellent. There is some very classy gear in here. It Would be even better if you could add text descriptions of makers for each frame.
Simplemente es increible como el ser humano se a capacitado para crear todas esta maravillas, y las que pueden llegar a venir E S P EC T A C U L A R, AMO EL BUEN AUDIO.........

Something about flagship speakers, no matter how old.. they are just as impressive. Engineering for purpose, not compromise.
It's George Takei on vocals!
I like the theme song without knowing the name, who goes through the place I know it
I get it... but with all these equipment, does it sound better than being there? I think you can buy the artist so s/he can play in your room live for the rest of your life and still come out ahead with how much some of these systems cost.

Some rooms are 400k+ you do the math, you'll need a super big lotto to get all of them. More money than your future mansion.
