My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

I always marvel by the amount of self-footage in your videos, ie., the number of places you place your camera (phone?) on the ground in public places. It must take a ton of time to plan these shots.

So true about the draconian AF guys. When I flew out, last summer, they literally herded me thru a check-baggage-weight/size portal. At that time it had two lines: weight on one side and size on the other. Luckily I was in the check-size side, and made it without a problem. Had I been on the weight side, it would’ve been a different outcome.
LOVE little Cooper, and felt a heart-tug when he tried to follow you, instead of his sitter. Ohhh, to be able to be in two places at the same time (in the same dimension), so you can travel, and still be home if necessary. (Of course, then I’d want to be in lots of places at the same time, and totally abuse the gift.)

Yes, Jay! Finally taking the train to CDG as regular people! The effort and sacrifice deserves reimbursement. Be aware though, I took it on Saturday and it stopped at Le Bourget without going any further so I had to take Uber for the rest of the way anyway. And on the way back yesterday it didn't go beyond Gare du Nord. Paris is ready for Olympics, so ready! ;-) Hi Cooper! 🐕

You've come such a long way Jay! It's been such an exciting time watching your videos. I knew you missed your puppy the minute you handed him over, he was looking around and screaming "whyyyyy daddy???" We have two cats, and they have been MISERABLE when we go away for a week. We literally have put them in the cat tajmahal (for like $600/week each= $1200) and when we get back they are still acting traumatized...
Anyways, I want to know how your family is doing, sister, dad, mom, friends back in the states. Also, were you sending a vote to America, or is this something in France? Will you be visiting the USA anytime soon?
My dh (dear husband of 48+yrs) is 73, I'm 67, he found a big photo album of when we were in Germany for 3yrs while he was an officer in the ARMY, 1980 through 1983, our son was not 1 year old yet. Now our son's going on 43, with a wonderful wife, and three children, all born in the same week as I... Of course I was born eons before them :).
We did love Frankfurt, Germany as well as all the other countries we travelled to, including France, but not Paris. Sometimes I would speak French then end up with German words sprinkled about, and the French did not like that at all, but mostly they gave me a break :). They'd smile when I spoke rudimentary French, and frown when I'd end up sticking a few German words in there... I laugh now, I did my best :).
Your videos are so welcome, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SEEING YOU TRAVERSE PARIS, AND YOUR PUPPY, AND YOUR TRAVELS, AND ESPECIALLY THE EATERIES! Thanks for sharing all this with us Jay :) !!!

Drop Box Suggestion: Hey, Jay! I’ve been watching your vlogs for a long time and I’m a big fan. Your creativity and authenticity shine through in every video. However, I’ve noticed a trend in your vlogs. The “record yourself walking away from the camera so it looks like you left it behind” style has been around for quite some time. While it was a novel concept when it first started, it has become somewhat outdated. Viewers are now aware that vloggers have to go back to grab the camera, and this realization can sometimes take them out of the content when you use it so often. I think you can gain a younger audience by using less of this technique, and you can retain more of your long time subscribers by offering something new and fresh. And I think it will be less work for you to film and edit!🍷from Boston :)
