Since every border was disputed at some point, I show their fully claimed borders and highlight disputed areas as a compromise. I also found contradictory maps when it came to the evolution of Bolivia’s provincial borders so keep that in mind.
I'm peru
Its a great work. There are provincial borders in Bolivia that have not been defined to this day (between Cochabamba with Beni, and Oruro with Potosí)
Isn’t Acre’s west border more rounded?

Technically one of the main reasons peru didn’t conquered them early on was because they renamed themselves from the Peru plateau to Bolivia, aka the fact they exist is a luck bolivar exist
Lol
😂😂😂
Realmente, Bolivia no perdió tanto territorio.
For anyone wondering Bolivia had 90 governments on its 197 years of history, and over a 100 coup attempts (succesful and unsuccesful)
I'm sorry, 100 coup attempts? God damn
🤯🤯🤯🤯

I am a foreigner who is currently living in Bolivia. One thing that I realized is that, unlike China, Russia or other countries that have territorial disputes (e.g. Balkan), Bolivia didn't have a high population in those disputed land and they couldn't maintain an effective administration in those places. In theory they entitled a lot of land but in reality, they just had too little influence in those places, which means that it's really hard to protect it when other countries invaded it.
Yeah, the thing about the lost lands is that there isn’t a “Bolivian” population in any of them, most of them got claimed by other countries precisely because Bolivia couldn’t populate them before the others. In some of them like Acre the neighbor in question, Brazil, wasn’t even interested at first and wanted Bolivia to keep it, but the people of the land were Brazilians who rose up against the Bolivian government a bunch of times until Brazil decided to buy it.
@@cassianoneto1553 Uh... the Brazilians living there were colonists, Brazil wasn't "Not interested" in the area, they helped the colonist make a rebellion for independance so Bolivia would gave up on controlling the area and sell it to Brazil.
It should say something that back then Brazil was an empire and not a republic.
Worth mentioning that emperor himself wasn't interested into taking over those territories, local administrators where.
Empire of Brazil was quite weird with empreor being quite liberal actually but he just didn't had influence to pursue his policies.
Kinda reminds of situation during Peter the Great in Russia who did maybe like 20% of what he wanted to do but tzar had total power only on paper and oligarchs could mess him up good if he pushed his authority too much.
@@cassianoneto1553True, for example in Antofagasta (the region with access to the sea) the majority was Chilean because Chile owned the industry and Bolivia never bothered to populate it.
Makes me wonder, did Bolivia and it's government even try to populate the lands, and if they did what prevented it?

Today, it's widely accepted that Bolivar was a bloodthirsty tyrant who had irrational delusions of becoming the emperor of the American continent; but he was so mediocre and incompetent he could never achieve much. And on top of all of that, he was incredibly corrupt and spent the second half of his life bought by the English who bribed him with tons of precious metals (specially gold and silver) so in turn Bolivar made a lot of nonsensical decisions which benefited the English only while hurting Latin America such as giving Guyana Esequiba away (now claimed by Venezuela) to the English for no apparent reason and receiving nothing in return. Finally, Bolivar had delusions of grandeur and only betrayed Spain (to which he had swore eternal loyalty) and started the South American wars of independence because he wanted the throne for himself (which is why he divided Peru in half just in order to be able to create a new country bearing his name, Bolivia) ; in fact, during a banquet (he organized himself in his honor) he proposed a toast to himself, saying "to the greatest man in America. ME".
An interesting detail, after the purchase of Acre, Brazil sought to readjust all border disputes with Bolivia, and in exchange for territories on the northern border, it ceded territories on the southern border, the sad thing for Bolivia is that most of these territories were later occupied by Paraguay.

Did you know that Bolivia was the only one who did not want independence from Spain, but Simon Bolivar forced them to have independence.
That was Perú. Bolivia at first wanted to be part of Argentina but Simón Bolívar did not allow it.
No, it was not like that, the commander of Ayacucho, Jose Antonio de Sucre, organized a referendum in Bolivia with three options.
A: join Argentina (legally it had to be Argentina)
B: join Peru (Peruvian politicians claimed the territory)
C: be an independent state (the people's favorite)
Bolivar showed his disappointment to Sucre, seeing that Bolivia did not want to join Peru, which Bolívar governed at that time. That is why the Bolivian government named their country "Republic of Bolivar", they were afraid that Bolívar would invade them (Bolivar did not even attend the proclamation of Bolivia as independent)
