  • This episode of the BMX Commentator Podcast is a chat with BMX Development Coach Adam Carey. Adam led the Thai National BMX Program for a number of years after racing Elite whilst studying for a PHD in Sports and Exercise Physiology. He also coaches some of the Australian riders that took W plates in Rock Hill at the recent World Championships.
The basis of our chat was about junior development, but we also touched on social anxiety at races, neurodivergence and process orientation. Plus an inside take on what happens in corners during a Masters moto at Worlds...
So it was a pretty diverse 45 minutes or so.
The door has been left open for a part two to this podcast in the form of a Q&A, so if the thought of that tickles your pickle let me know and we'll get something set up.

Just brilliant. I was lucky enough to meet Adam a few times out here in Bangkok. I started race again in my late 40s, with my then 9 year old son. Diving into a familiar scene on the other side of the world from where I last raced was exciting and at our very first race (at a Buddhist temple on a track made by monks!) we met Adam. We talked for hours and the advice he gave us is still with us now. 5 years later, my son and I still race the whole series here and it’s a huge part of our lives. Adam’s legacy to Thai BMX has been immeasurable. From coaching to the amazing track he designed (which just yesterday held the Asian CC) Adam’s got a place in the hearts of all the racers here. Over messenger he’s been generous with his advice and of course his own battles with overcoming injury have been truly inspiring. So, yeah, let’s have part 2!
