5:25 I like your message it’s a powerful point that I haven’t seen anyone discuss, even in the hardcore community. The magic of world of Warcraft back in 2004 was playing this game with no mods and no guides. Actually having to read quests, interact with others, and reference know locations to give you guidance is the full experience.
Duskwood was WILD on release! It was hectic, but it was also awesome to be constantly group up with people to complete simple quests just to kill ghouls! Felt very connected and very MMO.
that broken sword you found is not a new SOD thing, has been in the game always. funny that there are so many weird minor things in the game that you could easily mistake it for something new.
Is it not new? I feel like they make a lot of interesting things like this but end up making minimal to only 1 of these things so players end up skipping over them. would be fun to see these types of items get expanded on through leveling and end game.
Things like this are missing from retail. Yeah retail is more streamlined, but without that large scale journey and sense of scale, and with items all literally being the same just different item levels.. it's just not the same as how cool loot used to be.
Yup I found tons of these when I was playing on Classic. I was so excited when I found it for the first time and was actually able to craft it, then everyone I knew was finding them and sending them to me to fix if I wanted to. So many that it was no longer useful and I couldn't sell them on the AH. But that first time finding it and the unique way of acquiring that item, very cool.
The two blue sword parts in Zul'Farrak, Jang'thraze the Protector and Sang'thraze the Deflector make one epic two hand sword Sul'thraze. My first epic item I got on my Warrior back in vanilla WoW. I only knew about this item do to the strategy guide.
Once upon a time, we had this feeling with skyrim, being totally new to game, being prisoner for the first time and opening eyes in beautiful world of skyrim. It was like magic and i miss this adventure soooo much 😢
I've been having a lot of fun with the new phase. My only worry was the blood moon in Stranglethorn Vale being easily abused. I was genuinely excited for it, but I expected it was just going to be heavily min-maxed. And it is, it's almost exclusively controlled by large groups of players forcing individual players to opt out of the event because Blizzard didn't decide to make it a true free-for-all. Nothing quite like going on the boat to Booty Bay, realizing the blood moon is active and there's a group of 20 people standing there, ignoring each other and killing everyone on the boat and then spawn-killing them. Blizzards brilliant idea to counter the spawn killing was to make sure players weren't rewarded for it. (Because, you know, people totally never went around murdering people 50 levels under them regardless of rewards before)
2:13 this. I’m the player that always tries to spam dungeons, but this time I’m taking it slow and rediscovering my love of the world. Started a new toon on a new server, and got to 25 yesterday. The only dungeon I’ve run is WC and only once, at 24. It feels slower, but better. I really think the phrase “it’s about the journey, not the destination “ is so true for classic era wow.
Okay here's my experience so far: I started my journey in an RFK group, grinding mobs. That turned out to bore me though, so I went out after reaching 26 and did BFD with a friend. That dropped me the hydra, which basically made me feel like high society for the rest of the day. I then walked towards thousand needles. I never quested there back then, so I wanted to do that. In between questing, I got my stuff for the brutal armor questline, and sold some reagents to make bank. After I basically did every quest in upper thousand needles, I went to the shimmering plains. And oh boy. The whole time I was like "I don't know why people dislike this zone. Yeah having to walk up everywhere is annoying, but it's not that bad" - and then there was shimmering plains. I'm not gonna complain about the design, but this was just fighting for scrap in an empty desert. There were players EVERYWHERE. It was actually insane. After some time of being miserable in this zone, I went away and did some graveyard runs with a friend. That dinged me to 30 and ended my first 2 days.
Been loving phase 2 so far, but if I were to come up with one complaint about it is this: Multiple Classes requiring the same elementals from the same areas with a very VERY slow respawn rate for their class quests. Example; Warriors on their Whirlwind Weapon questline requires the Whirlwind mobs in Desolace, but so do multiple classes for their Rune unlocks.
I missed out on the Classic WoW re-launch back in 2019 because I just didn't feel like getting back into WoW, but was talked into coming back for Dragonflight last year. I was tempted to sub back for Classic back then though, so I made sure to be ready for the SoD experience right at launch to revisit the Azeroth I grew up with. And I've got to say, as much as I've had fun with Dragonflight, it hasn't ever really given me the same feeling the original WoW gave me that SoD has, the feeling that I'm not just playing a great game, I'm going on an adventure.
Hey Nixxiom glad you are having a good time. Don’t let the negative people in the comments or in game get you down. I can’t wait for the “it is a you problem” or “no skill” replies to this comment cause most WoW players are deeply psychologically disturbed (who knew ppl addicted to a 20 yr old video game would have mental health challenges)
i Dno, logged in and got 1 lvl and logged out. Think the classic leveling has been done a billion times by now the past few years, can hardly stomach another session of it.
Same. The toxic bs had me quit within a week and any time I make a comment on any WoW content my replies remind me of why I hate that community. Addicts will always be so vitriolic in defence of their addiction.
@@Psilocybin77do you think that you might get toxic replies cuz you yourself are being toxic and aggro towards ppl that love the game? Referring to them as addicts, delusional to how bad the game really is. Based on your comment here I’m guessing most comments you leave are just you shitting on the game and anyone who plays it or enjoys it. Sod is my first time playing wow since I was in elementary and middle school. Not everyone has been playing nonstop for 20 years, I never thought I’d enjoy such a slow paced old mmorpg so much but it is a lot of fun. I do think a large portion of the wow community needs a break or to quit wow including you. Video games are supposed to be fun and if you aren’t having fun you should find something else to do that will bring you enjoyment. I’ll say as a newcomer it makes the game less fun for me to play when I join groups that are filled with ppl like you that sound like they are clocked in at the worst job of their life, that they’ve been stuck working for 20 years. Everytime I meet someone like you in game I genuinely tell them they should take a long break from wow or quit altogether. The game is great, some of the community that never took a break just seems tired and it’s time to move on to a new game or new things
I’ve honestly found that questing and leveling is the most fun aspect for me. I am not excited for phase 2 or at least, not as much as I was for SOD launch, but meh. I’ll play till 40 some day
The sleeping bag is so worth it the quest exp for doing the full chain is amazing you get a free 12 slot bag along the way and some other nice bits and bobs and the sleeping bag is use every 3 hours for 2 hours of 3% extra exp and its just a fun journey who ever said its not worth it has no idea what they talking about
My one minor complaint of SoD is that it should have come out years ago. I've played this game wayyyy to much so it's not too fun for me. I like it and do have SoD toons, but it would be so much more fun if it had come out much earlier.
I don’t get how one just simply finds these runes it’s like pick up this random item in a random location, talk to this NPC you would otherwise not talk to, do this quest line that you may never touch, etc. I want to find them myself but similar to phase 1 I’ll just be looking them up on wowhead lol
Id like to see a race of Humans on the Horde, we fight Human nps so it makes sense imo that we could have a race of Humans on the horde side. We have elves on both alliance and horde now I wish they did the same with the other races not all races are totally bad or good so why aren't we having alliance tauren for instance.
I agree about talking to ppl. I prefer asking around and making friends by sharing information. Sadly most will openly mock and berate you as though you’re some lazy illiterate that can’t use google. I made a guild of only the classic and chill.
Season of Discovery phase 1 was fun. Phase 2, so far, not so much. The overcrowding is just too much to deal with right now. Trying to quest is an absolute nightmare. I have played since the second or third week of WoW's release and have never seen it this bad. This is the first time in WoW's history that I have went to quest and seen ZERO mobs to kill, I literally mean ZERO mobs. So many people everywhere that you go, it's out of hand. You simply cannot quest. Sure, if you want to dungeon grind to level, but even that get's old real fast as you do not get to experience the phase 2 world as intended. If they do not add new servers, or seriously crack down on, what I call, "super-farmers", then SoD will go the way of retail and just fall off the mmo map. I post this so that if folks are experiencing the same bad things that I am, maybe we can all start speaking out until they add more servers.

so its retail without the quality of life features so you get that classic feeling? lol no thanks...
your enthusiasm for Season of Discovery is so earnest and *enthusiastic*, I am happy to watch you experience joy in WoW again. Cheers mate.
The sleeping bag quest is absolutely worth it and right down your alley my dude
Nixxiom, I always like your enthusiasm for the game and a lot of what Blizzard has been doing has renewed my interest.

Are past seasonal runes still out there? Or if you missed season 1 runes they are gone forever?
melee hunter dream became real with SoD
It’s been fun, but its gonna be even better when the melee specialist rune is found
Lvling a rogue atm, I feel like rogues and hunter just switched roles 😂
With a bear pet (or bear druid), we can cosplay Rexxar! lol
I need to try this!
"Melee hunter dream" is like said "i want a Warrior Range all this years" wtf
Zygor has changed my life, I never understood how amazing it is until I tried it, thank you for opening my eyes
Your friends lied, the sleeping bag is 100% worth it. You get a consumable item that gives you rested xp, easily compensating for the time spent.
not to mention the quests involved combined gives like 12k exp.
I wish SoD implemented retail graphics and animations, that would've been kinda dope
Love your vids man I like your opinion and your content is amazing Im subbin for sure
Tank Shaman is one of the best tanks now and arguably our best spec now. Thank you Blizzard!
Maybe i should try this. I stopped playing as soon as the got the lvlboost in BC. But im afraid the botters will destroy this...
Totally pumped that Ironforge will be the new main city.
