  • Why is my air conditioner not cooling? Here's why your Goodman air conditioner runs but does not blow cold air. On this video I show how the repair could be as simple as a capacitor to get your Goodman air conditioner to blow cold air again.

About 3 years ago a technician told me my ac comp was shot. I took his word for it and let it be until we started getting record heat hear in Tacoma. I thought my Carrier unit is old but not much run time... Let's check some u tube vids and find out what might be broken. Guess what?? A $30 capacitor failed, looks like a frozen beer can bulging at the top. Well I want to thank all the AC techs that take the time to help us out. My house is cool and I can sleep tonight. Again thanks for the tutorials on trouble shooting.

Both the insurance and the ac guy charged us and i want to say it was between 100 to 200 all together. Times are getting tough between covid and texas screwing us from the last winter stormS. I told my wife to hold on calling someone because i know what some companies do for the those who 'dont know how to' or 'dont know what to do' i know because i have been there working for a greedy uncle.
All the arrows there. And i have 2 units the are the exact same i pulled the capacitors and switched them. And now i know what needs fixed and i saved alot of money in these hard time.

I have the exact same Goodman unit at my house. When the AC went out I had enough experience from my father, who was trained in AC repair and passed on some basic repairs, the first thing I did was to look at the capacitor. Mine was very easy because the capacitor was bowed at the top. Went and picked up a new capacitor, installed it and everything is now working properly. Almost identical to your video except for all that grass around the AC unit. They need to clean that up.

I also had weird problems with blower and it was big piece of insulation that fell off of sidewall next to blower cutting airflow and causing freezing and shutting down the blower... I drilled a hole in line by accident installing my security cameras and patched hole with copper silver wire and mapp gas yep got hot with good torch and put 8 pounds of Freon back in fired up soooo cold ..... I passed all tests for EPA with flying colors at APED universal tech scores ....not an HVAC schooled guy but it can be done.

It’s been awhile Skid Bro! Just wanted to let the new viewers know that I started green in the maintenance industry 4 1/2 years ago. I was supposed to shadow the then supervisor but he quit 2 hours into my first day. So I was forced to RUclips to do these work orders correctly. I found the Award Winning Dirty Maintenance Show and I was off to the races! I maintained 3 properties over 300 units in total by myself for 3 years with the knowledge Lex was dropping. I was let go during Covid-19 and left at 17$ hr I was hired onto a 190 unit property as a maintenance tech at $18 hr and in 8 months was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor at this property at $23 hr and a 1k stay on bonus. That’s a lot to say but I truly owe most of that success to you Lex! Thank you for taking long hours of recording and countless hours of editing so that guys like me can watch and learn in order to be our best self and succeed the right way in this industry. I will say though we need ya to bring back the Vlog series on our professional craft because those are so so valuable!!! Thanks again brother!!

I just replaced a capacitor on a 5 ton goodman yesterday. Ordered the cap from amazon for 20$. The compressor was not running because the half of the cap for the HERM or compressor side was not working but it showed charging on a multimeter. The hack AC guy wanted 110 service fee, 330 for the capacitor and add another 30 taxes. I averted a 470$ charge for 20 bucks. Only difference was the cap I replaced it with was round instead of oval and the tolerance was 6% on the new one instead of 3% on the old one. The Unit was 4 years old and the capacitor was a 45 microfarad on the HERM and 5 microfarad on the condensor fan. Good day.
