It was so sweet of that lady to give you one of your favourites and to also give you a birthday cake for Keyboard-san! It all looks so yummy.

Costco is like Ikea. You go with a list but then you just get sucked in and go round and round trying to talk yourself out of buying more stuff. :)

I go in with a list and a budget and stick to it, but I often see things I like. Rather than throw my budget out the window, I make notes and try to work them in the next month's budget. As a matter of fact, I just got a Christmas windfall and I'm making a list of small appliances that I'd like to get, including that blender that Sharmander wanted.

This is SO funny to watch because we looked at so many of the same things. I almost bought the tub of raspberries but it was like 800en, and I'm like, "man in Vancouver we have these things growing on the frigging highways."

Just a thought: if you want a hand blender/immersion blender and need to justify it, you can use it to make smoothies in a cup, blend up soup, make salad dressings, etc. I use it when i make chili to blend a tiny bit of beans to thicken it up. Way easier to clean (also takes up less real estate) than a blender!

Wow! I’ve ordered Costco from instant cart delivery before but I’ve never actually been inside a Costco. This store is huge! Almost overwhelmingly huge! I really have to go to the store in person. I appreciate you sharing. I just started making shopping walkthrough videos. I still feel weird filming in public. Do you have any advice on how you film in public? I’d love to learn from each other! TFS!! 🌹🌸🌺☘️💚💐🐝

Hi Sharla, About that stick blender. First off, I use my stick blender more than I use a counter top one. The clean up is so much easier. They are great for making smoothies right in the glass.(I just made a glass of eggnogg with it) I Puree soups right in the pot. Squash (Pumpkin) and Potato leek soups are my favorites. And yes I do use it to make whipped cream. You mentioned that you wanted one to make whipped cream. Is there a vegan equivalent?
Happy Holidays to You, Keyboard San, Maro and Luna!!!

Aaah, it feels nice to understand most of the Japanese you both talk. I've only been studying Japanese for 1 1/2 and I'm reeaally not all that good. Actually, I failed one of my exams this year but it's really stressful with all the other things I have to keep in mind for uni. But anyway, this kinda store reminds me of a store chain in Germany called "Metro", although I think you basically have to have your own business to go in there but there's soooo much stuff there in such huge packs.
But it also reminds me that things are so expensive in Japan ... Oh geez.

Liam Moreno I LOVE going to Costco! If you have a small family or live alone, it might be pointless because the sizes are extremely big, but it's quite cheaper than regular sizes and if you have the space, you can bulk up for some time!

Hi Sharla! Loved this vlog because it's all about food, which I love more than anything.
My fav part of costo is the cafeteria for cheap hot dogs, do they have that in Japan?
Re coconut milk: I don't know if you make or eat much South East Asian cuisine but it's really good for Thai or Malaysian curries (the high fat stuff is the best but for health reasons, using low fat coconut milk is good too). The easiest thing to do with it though is to just dump in a can (2-3 cups to taste) into your rice cooker with uncooked rice (add about 75% of usual water quantity) and make coconut rice. It smells and taste awesome!!
And with the cranberries: you can make your own cranberry sauce with dried cranberries (if you ca't find fresh/frozen ones)! I tried it last year for Xmas and it wasn't too hard, just putting a few ingredients in a pot and stirring.
Hope you have a great Christmas!! :)

Coconut milk is amazing in coffee and currys! It's a super nice dairy replacement if you get tired of soya/almond etc etc.

Jess Snow what's the reason people go vegan I just don't get it

    • @jesssnow2014
      @jesssnow2014 8 лет назад

Margaret Guenther Some people do it for health reasons. Some people do it because of animal cruelty. Some people do it for both. I have been a raw vegan for almost 3 years and I remember the difference I felt in my mood, body. When I just eat fruits and veggies I feel more refreshed. I was a regular vegan for 2 years and been a raw vegan for almost 1 year.

in-season veggies in Japan are pretty cheap (not in Tokyo though), but fruits are usually pretty expensive.

If you ever plan on visiting Japan, you could try the following to save on veggies:
      1. buy from veggies vending machines or self-help veggies stands (direct from farmers)
      2. befriend a Japanese mom or two, coz they have a knack to find the best price
      3. do research to determine in-season crops particular to the region you plan to visit.
      cheers

Try looking for dried cranberries or fresh. It is super easy to make sauce out of fresh. I love costco but getting large sizes is a problem to gt home & store.
    Happy Birthday, Keyboard san!

Hand blenders are great, because you can whizz up soup while it's still hot, and make milkshakes / frappes with them, and they're also good for making dips. Plus they're easy to clean and don't take up much space. Totally worth the investment.

The hand blender is useful for so much. Go ahead and get it, you'll use it for more than you thought and it's easier to clean than other, larger machines.
