So sweet that you guys are asking all these questions and the grandmas keep saying they don’t remember and are so nonchalant about details but when Matt asks about holding Abby for the first time, they know every detail. 😭 that is so precious!
I’m crying 😢 thank you Abby for what you said about appreciating your grandmas. I miss my grandma I wish I could tell her one more time how much I look up to her and love her ❤️ Really enjoyed this podcast! Your grandmas are both so classy and adorable
I cried at the end. I miss my parents and grandparents so much! Hold the people you love close and don’t miss any opportunity to spend time with them. I love Abby’s grandmas!
The grandma's are wonderful. My favorite episodes are with your families. Grandma's are special people and it was such a fun episode. Makes me miss my grandma's. 😊
Your grandma’s are wonderful and I can see how you grew into such an amazing person. I miss my Papa (grandfather) everyday but especially during the holidays but I do try to call my family at least once or twice a week just to see how they are. It is amazing to see how many people can shape you into who you are and it’s a blessing to have family that supports and loves you unconditionally. Keep ignoring the negativity and keep moving forward the way you always have. Merry Christmas from my family to yours 😊🎄
“If you’re missing a grandparent, I’m right there w you” 😭 I also lost my grandpa years ago and will forever miss him. Thank you for sharing your sweet parents and grandparents w us 🤍🥹
Abby, this episode is my 2nd favorite by far. The episode with your PawPaw is my all time favorite. I hope you and your grandma are doing okay. I am 20 years old and know what it’s like to lose a grandparent. Sending you and your family lots of love and prayers. ❤️
I’m your parents age and have daughters about the same age. We enjoy watching you guys and your parents, grandparents and siblings. We are from Illinois and appreciate your midwest background and values!
So very sweet listening to Abby’s grandmas!! What wonderful role models to have!! I loved my grandmas and they enriched my life so much!! Loved this episode!!❤
Abby, both of your grandma's are beautiful!! My mom was born in 1944. So my grandma was born in 1923, and I asked her a lot of these same questions. I was curious about pregnancy in the 1940s and it's so crazy how much things have changed. ❤ your videos!!
I love this podcast. It was so sweet to see your grandmas. Give them both hugs and love every chance you get. I just lost my grandma yesterday. We were not as close as you are with your grandmas but it is still hard. Oh and by the way, you have many followers that are older. I am 51 but my boys are your guys' age, so I feel like I can relate to you. It's always interesting to see how the younger generations live their lives compared to the older generations. Keep being your sweet selves.
I lost both sets of my grandparents very young and experienced death early on but with so much love for them all. This is so special. Videos with loved ones are the best!!! 🤍
My grandma worked her butt off when she was pregnant. She had 15 children, she milked cows, took care of the house and children, did all of the cooking and baking, washed the laundry by hand and had to haul and heat water… I believe my grandma did much more than most women these days do myself included!
This was by far my favorite Unplanned podcast episode. Those moments getting to further learn more about your closest loved ones are precious memories kept forever.
I’m 20 and don’t have any grandparents remaining alive. I wish I could do this for my future babies. Really sweet, I always love seeing you both talk to your family members. Obviously, your kids won’t appreciate it now, and probably not for a while, but one day they will
I’m 53 and I watch most of your podcasts! I had a wonderful relationship with my grandma who passed 9 years ago. I miss her everyday. I never comment on videos but I had to on this one. Love your grandmas!
I miss my grandma so much. She passed away last year. I'm lucky I had her as long as I did, but she was more of a mother than my actual mom and I just miss her so much.
Thank you for this. I lost my last great grandmother 2 years ago, i was very fortunate to have all of my great grandmothers well into adulthood, they made it to 100, and we use to "interview" her all the time. I miss them so much.
My grandpa was in TOPS for years! It helped him lose 80 pounds and helped him so much with understanding health in general. I don't remember him saying this mantra
When I began teaching elementary school in the mid 70's the teachers were allowed to paddle students with a witness. My co-worker (another first year teacher, yet 10 years older than me) asked me to witness a paddling. She had a student being punished by standing against the wall just outside the classroom door, then when she went to have a talk with him there was a puddle of liquid on the floor against the wall, so she thought the child had urinated on the wall & floor while in timeout. Weeks later we both realized that the school's flat roof leaked when it rained and realized that the little boy had NOT urinated! We both felt horrible about that paddling!
You guys are so incredibly blessed to have a family love like this🥹 I hope Abbys mom sees this comment. ❤ Ignore the rude people The positive definitely out weighs the negative Matt & Abby KEEP GOING! You guys are doing extraordinary things 👏🏼 ❤
My grandma passed away when I was 11 and I’m 25 now- and only now started processing feelings about it 🥺 miss her so much. Such a blessing that you have grandmas still alive and well and in your life!
GUYS I forgot when I was in my postpartum room after having my second son, I was watching your podcast and my nurse knew you guys! She said she went to church with you guys when you were in college 😊
My grandma said they stopped doing overnight nurseries because parents were going home unprepared to handle the nighttime. Parents now supposedly do better with the help of learning in the hospital.
So sweet! You should bring them back on again! I lost my Mammaw in September and then my Poppy in October, and it broke my heart! I wish they were still here! 🥺
Man, this learning adventures place sounded so cool! The world is missing out on places like this… I loved this video. It was so wholesome and full of love! Thanks for sharing your grandmas :)
I think it’s fun when you interview relatives. I don’t know if I’ve missed it, but it doesn’t seem like you’ve ever interviewed Abby‘s parents but yet you’ve interviewed Matt ‘s parents several times. I’m just wondering if there’s a reason for this it would be fun to meet Abby‘s parents too. Love your podcast. Keep up the good work.
@@cristinamerlini and that is fine. But I am asking Matt and Abby not you. I am wondering what their take on this is. When you are your life out there for the public questions and that’s OK.
When y'all were talking about then becoming great-grandparents it really made me tear up cuz I recently lost my one and only grandma and it wasn't until now that I realized that she would never be able to meet my future children😢
This was an adorable episode. My grandma passed away when I was in middle school, over 20 years ago. I wish I could have her here meeting my babies (her grandbabies) and spending time together🤍
29:25 i love the mention of Mary Kay cause i never hear anymore talk about that brand but my grandmother is actually a Mary Kay consultant so I get my foundation, concealer, and mascara from Mary Kay! I might even look into being a consultant as a side job like you mentioned but still have a couple years until i’m old enough haha
This podcast episode is so heartwarming, I love seeing them. I got emotional watching this, I had a great relationship with my great grandmother and grandmother!! It’s so wonderful seeing you guys interview them!! 🩷😊 it’s very heartwarming and inspiring to watch this episode!! I’m so glad you guys were able to get them on the podcast!! Loved this episode and hear what they both had to say!! May you both have a Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄
I had my 1st daughter in '72. I only had a backache. They gave me 3 little pill to relax me 😂. I woke up 3 hrs after she was born. They let me see her but not hold her because I was so loopy. They had to use forceps. I had my 2nd daughter in '75 in a much bigger hospital in Boston. I told them NO meds. I had her in 1 1/2 hours, too late for an epidural. So different. The first one i wasn't myself for a week from the meds. My second one i was up and around within an hour of having her. It was great...
I listened to the podcast on Spotify this morning BUT I had to come comment. You can request the baby be taken to the nursery so you get rest. My daughter is 6 now, and when I had her I requested they take her to the nursery so I could sleep. I believe they took her for 6 hour period
I have talked with a woman who is in her 60s now who had “twilight” medications and said they strapped her arms down when her first baby was born, & her daughter is only in her 40s. It’s crazy to think that happened that recently.
Kennedy's assassination was on a Friday, Nov 22,1963. The burial was on Monday, Nov. 25. My parents did not let us watch much TV, but that weekend and the following days we were glued to the tube watching clips of the assassination, the swearing in of President Johnson, the arrest of Oswald (late Friday night) the Sunday assassination of Oswald by Jack Ruby which happened on live TV & Ruby's arrest. Kennedy's body was lying in state at the White house then the Capitol building Rotunda for 18 hours on Sunday where 250,000 people showed their respect. The funeral on Monday began with a procession from the White House to the cathedral. The family, VP, and other dignitaries walked 0.9 mile down PA Avenue and 17th St to the cathedral behind the horse drawn carriage carrying the casket. It was a very emotional time. Then Thursday was Thanksgiving and that weekend included many special reports and replays of the video documentation of events. At age 11 it was the first time I witnessed History being made on TV.
Oh jee, we had 9 kids in my family. All very close to age. In the car we sat on floors, laps, on the back of the back seat. No seat belts...crazy when i think of thst now..😂😮😮😅
My Aunt went to TOPS when I was a kid (I’m now 60) and I still remember those horrible things they had members say and I also remember her coming home humiliated because if you were the one whom lost the least weight that week you had to put the pig head thing on.
Yes here in Michigan there are so many small local open for forever pasty’s businesses! There’s a delicious place in Gaylord Michigan I cannot recall the name as i live like two hours from there and only travel through to go to Interlochen near traverse city to our cottage!
When I was growing up we called our Grandma by their last name Grandma Howard(for you) but my kids and grandkids call theirs by first name like Grandma Betty or Grandma Suzy.
You guys have had some KILLLLLEEER guests and podcast episodes this year but this episode is top of my list. Loved it!!!
So sweet that you guys are asking all these questions and the grandmas keep saying they don’t remember and are so nonchalant about details but when Matt asks about holding Abby for the first time, they know every detail. 😭 that is so precious!
22:02 Vickie's story about how excited she was to meet her grandbaby just got the tears flowing over here!!
I’m crying 😢 thank you Abby for what you said about appreciating your grandmas. I miss my grandma I wish I could tell her one more time how much I look up to her and love her ❤️
Really enjoyed this podcast! Your grandmas are both so classy and adorable
In November 1965,in Oklahoma city, my daddy was the first father in the delivery room in the city when I was born, it was in the newspaper.
That’s really cool!
Omg that’s so cool 😮
I cried at the end. I miss my parents and grandparents so much! Hold the people you love close and don’t miss any opportunity to spend time with them. I love Abby’s grandmas!

You're so lucky to still have multiple grandparents into your adult years!
All of my grandparents have passed, and I definitely shed some tears missing them while watching this episode.

I was just thinking about how Abby’s grandma was doing after her husband’s passing!💛 Love this!
Your grandmas are both really nice.❤❤ Happy Holidays!🎄
When I was born in 1966 my mom was in a room with 3 other moms and they all had ashtrays by their bed!!
This is your guys best podcast yet I’m crying so sweet ❤️
My grandma passed away when I was 11 and I’m 25 now- and only now started processing feelings about it 🥺 miss her so much. Such a blessing that you have grandmas still alive and well and in your life!
I love how your grandma reacted to Matt’s question about women vs men being topless in public hahah whyyy Matt 🤦♀️🤦♀️

This was a great reminder to ask those questions that someday you may not be able to ask
Love this episode so much. You can really see the love that is shared in the family. ❤❤❤
You have the sweetest grandmas ever!!🥹❤️

I would probably say her parents are more camera shy
They actually talked about this in the last podcast! Her parents just aren’t as comfortable being on camera 🥰
They don’t want to do it and they respect their wishes ❤
@@cristinamerlini and that is fine. But I am asking Matt and Abby not you. I am wondering what their take on this is. When you are your life out there for the public questions and that’s OK.

Love this.... Now you have to bring the siblings on!
I love how this whole episode is questions and then I don’t know
My grandma demanded my grandpa be in the delivery room. She was such a progressive lady.
Loved this episode

Some hospitals still have the nursery option at the hospital and you’re able to check them in and get sleep!!
We still have a TOPS club where I live 🤣
I miss my grandma so so much. 😭😭 she just passed away in October unexpectedly at only 76 years old.
Consider that there was much less traffic and people weren’t crazy when driving like now. There were also neighborhood hospitals.
Love this! ❤️ episodes with your family are always the best!
My Aunt went to TOPS when I was a kid (I’m now 60) and I still remember those horrible things they had members say and I also remember her coming home humiliated because if you were the one whom lost the least weight that week you had to put the pig head thing on.
In the UAE, they just recently passed an allowance for dads to be in the room!

I had girls in 2021 and 2023 and the nurses still offered to take the baby to the nursery!! We opted to do it for 1 night and kept them another night
They’re so classy!!💕
