  • We were teenagers in the seventies & 1975 was our favourite year. Skyhooks ruled & Split Enz had arrived from NZ. Who can forget Number 96 & with both of us from Wollongong, the matriarch of the steel city was the infamous Aunty Jack. 1975 ...bring it on!

    1975 was pivotal in so many ways, personally from my perspective and Australia-wide

    That was fantastic. What a great year. I was in grade 7 and obsessed with the BCR's and JPY 😂. Simple days. Wish I had a time machine.

    Peter, you are a legend. I was born in '74. Skyhooks is STILL my all-time favourite Aussie band. I'm trying to find footage of them playing Horror Movie and Jukebox in Siberia on Countdown Revolution. Tall rimber is there but I cannot find the other performances. They had fake snow for Jukebox and they wore their old costumes for Horror. I hope you can find them. Thank you again.

    I enjoyed that little trip down 1975 lane, and the pantihose assimilation. 😅 I remember the Pantihose Strangler and the bomb, like they were yesterday. 😄

    Good stuff PG and Mark. Loved those snippets of No 96. I could only watch it when Mum and Dad were out

      Yes the night Australian tv lost its virginity. I guess we all got our sex education from number 96.

    Great summary and a bit of fun, well done. I was a Melb lad of 16 in ‘75 so can relate. Lucky to have seen Skyhooks rehearsals and the gig at the Palais (old one) in StKilda around that time, and afterwards at Armstrongs Studios Sth Melb for the editing of the tv special, absolutely bloody fabulous!

    That was a brilliant summary of 1975. I wasn't born myself for another ten years, but thought it was a great history lesson from PG and Mark.

    I was at that music festival and that was the night I fell in love with Skyhooks. It was ny 13th birthday and they played at Wollongong showground. Pretty sure Marcia Hines and Ol' 55 were 2 other acts that played that night. In the heat of the night tour. I was lucky enough last year to have that ticket stub from that night given to me!!!

    Great video Peter, was great looking back to a time where there was none of the crap that is around today with all this PC and so on. And yes, once you heard or saw The Hooks you were a fan for life :-)

    Skyhooks released the single Horror Movie & album Living In The 70's in '74, not '75.

    • @petergreen2534
      @petergreen2534  Год назад

      That's why we didn't say "released" in 75. 90 per cent of both Living in the 70s album sales happened in 1975, 18,500 if Horror Movies gold record sales happened in 1975. In NSW (Wollongong) Horror Movie first charted on the 7th of Jan 1975.. Living in the 70s was the biggest selling Aussie album for 1975. So pretty good reasons to mention it.
