S was really prominent in pokemon
This got me curious, I just looked for the most prevalent letters in the pokedex (entire pokedex), the 6 most common letters are, in order, "AEORIL" with 765, 676, 660, 617, 588 and 511 use, and the least used letters are, in order from most to least, "FVZXQJ" with 112, 76, 60, 40, 19 and 16 use. 🤔

@@non-existentasukamain766 I had to pretty much type every pokemon's name in a letter count app. Tried finding list I could just copy paste, but every list would come with pokedex number, the pokemon's types... so I had to manually enter them all. I still have the list, S is the 9th most used letter at 390 uses.
Imagine picking the most obscure letters repeatedly as a shot in the dark.
This was so much fun! I thought Vinny had no chance. This was such a great battle!! Well done to both of you.

Hangman Tale of the Tape
Patterz most guessed consonant was L, which he guessed in 5 of 6 rounds. This is the 5th most common consonant in English. This is followed up by three guesses each of R and M, the 1st and 9th most common.
Vinny's most common guessed letters, tied at 3 rounds each, were R, S, M, B and K. These are the 1st, 4th, 9th, 12th and 16th most common consonants.
Granted commonality in english isnt the the same as commonality in Pokemon names. But a general tip for hangman is the six most common consonants are, in order, R, T, N, S, L, and C.
I’m glad this concept was realized!! I remember the stream where we thought of this idea and it turned out really well!

How is a gallows barbaric? It you set it up right, which of course you would in modern times, it instantly snaps their neck and kills them.
Hate to be a stick in the mud three months late but when referring to the gallows, the past tense of "hang" is "hanged". Really fun idea, though!! I enjoyed the video!

Vinny's guesses seem so random. M, K, U, and B when he has _ea_e__ for Leafeon is craaazy. Has a strategy to find vowels (as everyone should) then just shoots at random letters hoping and praying lol. Really you should go for some combo of A, E, I, and/or O first, then spend a little time thinking and try to get the first letter. (Depends a little based on the word/name) If you're gonna shoot at random letters at least pick popular ones, bro guessed B and M wrong basically every round and guesses U before O. RSTLNE my guy. I know Pokemon names are weird, so it makes a little sense ig.

Linguistic basics for anything that involves guessing words: AEINORST. they are the most common letters used in the English language and the English names of Pokémon follow basic phonetic patterns.

Fun fact: when I went to teach English in Japan, the first thing they told us was not to play hangman. Apparently hanging it still a method of execution there and the game is considered inappropriately morbid.

The power discrepancy vs the winner was awesome. Pride comes before the fall ey? Was a solid battle down to the wire though. I purposely didn't look at how much was left on the video when the battle started because I was worried it would be a sweep. But those abilities really came through at the right moments.
