Inigo Pascual. He's already an established singer and actor in the Philippines, but most recently he was Ace Grayson in an American show called Monarch. He also performed on Jo Koy's Netflix special, "In His Elements". Speaking of Jo Koy, I want to mention Dave Bautista as well. They aren't singers or dancers, but still talented in their own right. I know many people don't count them because they are mixed blood. But I do.

Billie's Bright Lights was one of my favorite pop songs back then. He was really popular as a musical artist when he was in Europe. So, i have always wondered why he turned into a game show host and tv funny man upon his return. Hope he goes back to his musicality and release upbeat pop songs like he used to with his awesome dance moves in music videos. With his talent, it is never too late.

Another commendable video! It's wonderful that we have reactors who believe genuinely in Filipino talents- instead of THAT reactor reporting "happily" that the Ppop conference was cancelled and going on and on asking what the fans who already bought tickets and made various arrangements might do that the event was cancelled. (I mean- why is that reactor strangely "all smiles" and "glowing" while talking about the ordeal of those who already bought tickets and made hotel arrangements? It's hard to feel someone's sympathy when that person looked like she was announcing her birthday while talking about her "theories.")
Oh well... I don't want to get in the way of her happiness. I just feel that we NEED MORE POSITIVE VIBES now that everyone seems a little down because the event they've been waiting for got pushed back indefinitely. I could only imagine their stress. Of course I'm irked that some fans can be happy about other people's disappointment. Or is it because that "global" pop group was NOT included in the conference invitation?

I hope PPop fans become really solid in supporting PPop artists by re-discovering through these channels and platforms what makes them amazing- instead of simply comparing Filipino artists with their foreign favorites and raising a "foreign standard" because they're too lazy to try and find out what the Filipinos standard for talent and genius is.
Of course, it's really hard to raise a single standard for PPOP because different artists have different interpretations, styles, and aesthetics. But I think whatever factors shape this standard, a few things must be there- the sensibility of the song, the lyrics, the beat, the way the experience/ message translates into a unique form of expression.
It's not just technical quality and fireworks and an expensive stage- though all of that helps. It's FILIPINO AUTHENTICITY that matters the most.
Just like earlier Filipino artists trying to break through the world stage and its (unfair) biases, SB 19 had struggles finding their own path, their own identity- but if they can overcome their previous fixations and develop their own sound and beat that's different from how they started, I'm sure the rest of us can. That's how their struggles and obstacles reflect our own ordeals and challenges- and how those experiences came to define them and us interconnectedly.
It's really history happening all over again. I just hope we learn from the past and move forward instead of letting foreign standards, styles and aesthetics dictate the course of our future. I think we owe it to our artists to be "better" audiences. If anything, it's out of respect for so many others in our history who have been struggling for years, decades to carve an authentic Filipino identity out there through which we can bond together and communicate with the rest of the world. Kudos to all these Filipino artists~~ ^_^

@@CashualChuck Clue: She says she looks like a "librarian"- which is something relatable because I also wear those kinds of clothes. She didn't say anything "bad" about anyone, in fairness. It's just that I know she's been uploading that "global" group's mall shows- which is PERFECTLY FINE- nothing against the group even when I've been critical of the marketing tactics behind it- regardless of what the fans say about their idols.
I'm just wondering why the smile and the glow when she started talking about what the ticket buyers will do with their tickets and the hotel arrangements now that the event didn't push through.
Maybe it was her "style" of talking- I could be mistaken- but didn't come across as sympathetic at all- though she mentioned that she had civil service exams in the upcoming days and she might not be ready for the PPOP Con because of it. I was thinking she's about to suggest that maybe the cancellation/postponement was related to that.
But instead she overemphasized the fact that one of the reasons for the cancellation/ postponement could be that so many PPop artists have been invited- and that was the problem.
HUH? It's a PPOP Conference. Imagine a Conference with only two groups participating. How does this theory even make sense?
You know I've always been transparent about what I'm thinking- so when in the comment thread someone hinted that the event coincided with a certain network's promotion of its own "global" group- I was honest enough to say I was thinking the same.
I'm coming from an outside context you see- in other places, people are careful about "coincidental" things- and it's natural to make them "connect." It's the reason why people should be more vocal about their thoughts on real "issues" and concerns that require clear and convincing explanation.
And it's the reason we also become more transparent- when people demand transparency because every normal IQ wants a clear, honest, logical explanation
when it's needed. Debates are NORMAL- and unlike other fans, I don't think every controversy is toxic- especially when it's the result of an irregularity that requires a more rational explanation.
In any case, some fans seem "miffed" and say we're wrongly blaming the wrong group for the cancellation. That's a "normal" reaction, I guess- BUT it's misplaced because it assumes we have "personal" things against Hori7on. Nobody said SB 19 was better than them. But honestly, are they suggesting that a FREE LIPSYNC EVENT at the MALL is better than LIVE performances at the PPOP Conference? And I reacted this way because a fan said- well, just play your playlist while in the PPOP Conference because the conference must be boring.
Hori7on lipsync is a FACT- and whatever explanation they put there is something that's up to the audience to judge. I just hope we're not regressing to the point that lipsync will be the "standard" just because K-pop fanatics think it's normal in their culture. I already said I understand why they're doing it- because they're in training. And all my opinions STOP there.
I just want to be clear that we have our own pop standards. If they think it's boring- fine- we're all open to criticism- but I'm also ready to give my own. That's not toxic- unless we start name-calling each other. Not all communication lines are "bad" just because there is disagreement and all sorts of theories flying by. We just need to be more open to whatever criticism we hear and give- just like SB 19 tolerates everything, even haters.
I tolerate haters, bashers, critics- but tolerance doesn't mean silence. And if my opinions are mistaken, I take that with a grain of salt- because I'm not so prideful as to speak up just because I have a monopoly on truth. I can be wrong- everybody else can be wrong- but that doesn't mean mistakes are malicious and the person is "bad" for voicing an "uncertainty." But that doesn't mean I have to be afraid to talk just because I could be wrong.
For me, the only opinions that are inherently toxic are those meant to personally shame someone- or those that substitute opinions for facts when the opinion can do irreversible damage.
As for questions who's better or worse- it's always an open-ended debate- and nothing is toxic- until we forget that our opinions are mere opinions. Of course the most toxic is when we start arguing that everyone who disagrees is less than what or who we are.
So I hope fans don't misunderstand that these discussions are toxic just because we have conflict. I think in cases like these, it's better to regret saying or doing something, than NOT saying or doing something that might make a difference.
Bottomline: I'm a fan of PPop- and I'm still sad about the postponement. I don't demand sympathy- but if this happened to another group out there- even a k-pop group- I've no business offering theories when my sincerity is questionable.

@@CashualChuck The reactor's recent uploads were yesterday (PPCon cancellation. postponement) and a few days ago showing Hori7on's mall tours. Her account name starts with PH.
Also, she explicitly posted that she will refrain from reacting starting today. I guess she has valid reasons? In any case, I give her the full benefit of the doubt.
Tbh, I thought she was a PPop fan because some of her uploads were on BINI... but then I noticed that the threads obviously included some Hori7on fans who explicitly suggest that the cancellation/ postponement was obviously caused by lack of interest, fans were suggesting that very few bought tickets and the organizers were so embarrassed because of the lack of support that they backed out.
Believe me, the ridicule was astonishing. You'd think these are NOT Filipinos- but then, they're speaking Tagalog so it's obvious enough.
Imagine if they spoke in English. This is what I meant by "toxic." Not all controversial opinions are toxic- but mind you, what if an international reactor read this and believed it? What if someone repeated this in English and it became a topic in social media- especially when the artists involved have international significance like SB 19? That's not pulling down one group like SB 19. That's sinking the ENTIRE ship of PPop artists and talents.
I could be wrong, of course. But I think that comment threads reveal what biases you have- what kinds of fans actually come to your channel to show support. Still, it wasn't even that which ticked me off. People were actually waiting for the PPop Con to happen. Some say EXO is putting up a concert and everyone prefers THAT. But if I were the organizer, wouldn't giving up the venue for EXO seemed bad taste? besides, PPOP is a conference- not just a single artist's concert. Why would they carelessly explain it by citing "logistics" when that is the standard explanation for everything that is supposed to be hush hush.

At mas marami pang Pinoy na likas na talentado ngunit di napapansin dahil kulang sa budget para i-promote sarili. Usually ang may pera lang talaga at may suporta mula sa iba ang tagumpay na nari-recognize, but there are a lot more. Parang katulad lang yan ng mga Athletes natin na mas marami pang magagaling na nagmumula sa probinsya ngunit naisasantabi ang pangarap dahil walang pera.
