    Travis, as I listened to this video again, I keep thinking about the swivel addition to a drop shot rig, and I wonder what your thoughts are about using a swivel?? I liked Derek's idea about using a longer leader to give some separation from your braid and then only having a two to three foot lead to your hook. Thoughts??

      It works for him....I dont see any issues the way i do it so I dont think I need a swivel

      @@SmallmouthCrush I am out on the swivel concept. I tried it this weekend and all it did was cause more problems than solved.... I kept reeling it into my first guide when I wanted to make longer casts, and over time that is just going to destroy my equipment. I tried it, but it is not for me. Going back to the OG method, no swivel. :-)

      @@nawinchester You have to keep the swivel about 20-24' from the hook so it never gets in your guides. it will wreck a tip if you reel it in constantly.

      @@derekstrub I've been trying it off this fall and I think I have solved the reeling it into my guides annoyance. But I just feel like I get less bites with a swivel than without. Maybe it's confidence, or a lack there of.

      @@derekstrub I started using a swivel this fall and it has worked well for me. Can you please identify the swivel you are using?
      I am about half way through this series. And this was one of the best. Thanks for sharing ( I am in western WI so don't worry won't be searching for any of your spots)

    What is the benefit of having such light braid?

    • @derekstrub
      @derekstrub 2 года назад

      Hi Travis, the two major advantages are casting distance and more importantly sink rate for fishing deep. Thinner the line the less resistance.
