  • The plaintiff says she hired the defendant’s company to move her, but she claims the guys were drunk and tossed her belongings around like they didn’t care. She also says they stole items. She’s suing for the damaged items. The defendant says the plaintiff was abusive to her movers and even tried to push one of her guys down the stairs.

I’m not sure if I hope she’s a scammer or that she needs to be evaluated for dementia.
My grandma made all kinds of wild claims when we realized she had dementia. For instance, that my dad came over and kicked her dog.
My dad lives an 8-hour drive from her and can’t kick anything because of disability affecting his hips and knees.
I could honestly see her making claims about movers leaving things out in the non-existent rain and breaking her belongings right in front of her out of jealousy and spite. And she wouldn’t know how absurd that sounds to the rest of us.
But if my grandma did that, we’d definitely stop her before it got to the point of filing a lawsuit.
Maybe this woman doesn’t have nearby family to step in?

What sucks about this is not the fact that she’s getting help if she needed (and if she doesn’t need it and taking it away from a family that can’t get it.. that’s None Of “our” issue. Karma is real) but the fact is that it only takes one person to act like this to make a group of people seem ungrateful, scammers, and etc. It’s the reason why people that are not on assistance believe those who receive it have no voice about anything, and need to accept just whatever they are given. And no one should feel that way.
