Ayutthaya: The Historic Capital Of Thailand

Ayutthaya is an ancient city located in central Thailand, about 80 kilometers north of Bangkok. It was the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and was one of the largest and most prosperous cities in Southeast Asia. The city was founded in the 14th century and was known for its impressive temples, palaces, and public buildings. It was a major cultural, political, and economic center and was visited by traders from around the world. However, the city was sacked and burned by the Burmese in the 18th century and was subsequently abandoned. Today, the ruins of Ayutthaya are a popular tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
