Prestige did my DBQ, nexus/IMO for migraines secondary to tinnitus. I had Migraine Buddy showing 2 to 3 migraines a month where I was in bed with nausea and vomiting, and almost daily headaches. My tinnitus is 24 hours a day. The C&P examiner said there is no connection between tinnitus and migraines, it was more likely caused by diet or heredity, she never asked about either. I received 10% tinnitus & 30%ptsd however I do believe my migraines are related to BOTH. Was prescribed meds from my civilian dr for the migraines but didn't like the side effects. Can you maybe do a video on migraines being secondary to ptsd as well? Thanks
As you know, it's mostly about medical evidence, **your statement**, and the 50/50 standard. I received 50% for the same claim about 2 months ago. I credit the VA neuro diagnosis of "typical migraine", a PCP comment in my record that my migraines are "brought on by PTSD", basically an Excedrin prescription, a log from a year ago i uploaded via msg center (not sure if they even looked at it as I didn't upload it with my claim at all), and a couple of ER stops after the migraine occurred. ER gave "information about your diagnosis of migraines" in their release papers. I also paid hers truly for an IMO and submitted it with my claim. The IMO supported everything I said with medical studies. And finally, the statement I wrote was simply on point and written for a 50% rating. It was 38cfr "schedule for rating" approved. The claim was scheduled for a records review C&P exam for 2 weeks out, but was completed in a few days. edit: Also included 2 letters from coworkers who knew of the headaches, one I called from the ER and sent a picture of me on the gurney, joking about it.
Does a migraine have to be debilitating or can it just be persistent? I've had tinnitus since 1991 along with hearing loss that was discovered before leaving county after Desert Storm. I got the customary 10% for tinnitus and another 10% for spondylolisthesis. Since coming home, I have had a headache almost every day that radiates from the base of my skull and goes around to the eyes and then upwards. It is not debilitating but it is distracting to say the least. Thank you, Leah. ~John

Hello. Great video and channel. I currently have 10% service connected for Tinnitus. I was a Navy Builder (BU) in the Seabees for over 8 years. I plan on doing secondary claims for Migraines and Anxiety soon. During my C& P exam the doctor giving me the test also told me I should also file for hearing loss because I have moderate to severe hearing loss . She further said that if I file within 3 months it will be approved because the report the she prepared will cover it. Does that make any sense. Also how do I file secondary claims ?
I am glad you are enjoying the channel. If you are unsure of how to file a claim, a VSO would be a good place to start. VA.gov also has a good amount of info on the claims filling process itself. I would imagine that your C&P doctor is noting in her report that she believes your hearing loss to be related to your in-service noise exposures. Technically she has the ability to state as such as the VA has what is known as a duty to assist to add that in as a disability. It does not always happen that way but it should.
Yes. That’s exactly what happened. My nexus letter was very strong and It was from a renowned Audiologist Doctor. Additionally the C& P doctor gave me a full array of tests and she said the results of my hearing tests were exactly the same as the tests performed by the treating Doctor and who prepared my Nexus letter. The VA had sent for them months earlier. So I’m guessing that’s a good thing. So then she said I should’ve filed for hearing loss and told me to do so.
She said if it’s within 3 months then her report is the ruling factor. She said even though many times it’s a 0% , it’s still worth it and good to have it on record and part of my file

Leah, can you do video on OSA secondary to Asthma, my c and p examiner shot it down and said no correlation just that I was 50 lbs heavier then when I got out and the extra girth on the neck is the contributor to the osa. they are both respiratory and if one cannot breathe to begin with I believe that one can show a correlation between asthma and osa. what is your take?
I am service connected for PTSD and Tinnitus, have suffered with frequent migraines for over 30 years. I am filing a new claim for Migraines secondary to Tinnitus very soon. What all do I need to submit to the VA with my claim? Do I need a letter from my Dr connecting my headaches to my Tinnitus? Also, what about a DBQ, does the C&P examiner fill that out or do I need to get my Dr to do that?
Hey sir you do not need a letter from your doctor connecting the two but if you can get one it could be helpful! The C&P examiner will fill out the DBQ but if your doctor will that also may be helpful. I hope this clarifies and reach out anytime if you would like assistance with this from the medical expert perspective: leah@prestigeveteranmctx.com . Hello there could you post the relation between migraines secondary to ptsd, anxiety and/or depression. The vba rater seems to agree with the c&p doctor twice and ruled ptsd is not a direct cause of migraines 😢😢 my IMO was in my favor and they still denied my claim...
It could mean many things but if you have a legal professional like an accredited claims agent they should be able to look in your file and provide you feedback

I am 10% for Tinnitus. I did a hearing test showing moderate hearing loss in both ears. They did the word recognition test and it was louder than when I have m y hearing aids in. I did not get a ratings increase because of the score on the word recognition test. Is there any way to get around the word recognition test? I have moderate hearing loss and the VA recognizes that but will not give me a rating. I have been having migraines on and off for the past year. The Tinnitus is continuous. I may try the migraine route but these migraines recently started.
I am sorry to hear this. As far as the specifics on how they consider ratings you will want to check with a legal professional like a VSO, Accredited claims agent or an attorney
It is not that easy I had a doctors diagnosed, records, a buddy statement from my wife, my personal statement and a DBQ and a Nexus for Prestige and I have been denied I guess it is going to HLR. Leah after reviewing my records did a great job with the DBQ and Nexus. The VA did an ACE exam and never talked to me.
@@prestigeveteranmedical "The conditions of migraines and tinnitus are not medically related. MIGRAINES is neurological disease and should be viewed as a complex brain network disorder with a strong genetic basis that involves multiple cortical, subcortical and brainstem regions to account for the pain and the wide constellation of symptoms characterizing the attack. Tinnitus, which is very common, results in an intermittent or constant “ringing” sound in the ear. It may also be perceived as hissing, whistling, or buzzing. While medical literature supports a relationship between tinnitus and headache laterality and a temporal interaction of both disorders, there has been no clear determination that tinnitus causes migraines. A thorough review of medical literature failed to demonstrate a causal relationship.
I would consider consulting with an accredited legal professional that can help you straighten this out, especially if you had a positive report from your treating doctor @@danielpettit4100

I've got some serious migraines that make it extremely hard to function at least a half dozen times a month, and some that just make life miserable another dozen or so days a month... I have told the VA about it time and time again. My primary provider changes about every 6 months or so, but I had one a while back that acted genuinely concerned with it, and tried to help with medication ( non narcotic because I refuse to take narcotics ) but other than that 6 months or so that I had that provider, nobody seems to care about it... I am not service connected for migraines though I am for tannitus, I haven't put in for migraines yet because I'm still waiting to hear back from 2 other claims. I was told that it's not a good idea to put in ALL claims at the same time because they cherry pick ( in their favor ) and toss the rest out forcing you to apply again and again. I hate this stupid game they play. I'm working on 10 years and have only gotten to 70... But at least that's mostly in larger primaries and haven't even attempted secondaries yet. Waiting 6 to 10 months at a time for answers really slows down the process.

~John
That is a great question. Every person is different and headaches can differ from person to person. Best to follow up with your treating doctor for your symptoms
I was a 19k Tank Driver. LOTS OF NOISE. Tank starting and running.

Great video!!
I am glad you thought so! Thanks for the feedback!!!
I was a 42A with an Infantry unit and Deployed 3 times and was still denied tinnitus

How long after being diagnosed would one wait to file a migraine claim? How many months of a migraine log would be sufficient to submit with a claim?
That is totally up to you sir. There is really no requirement that I am aware of but you may want to check with a legal professional
Good afternoon, I was a Heavy Equipment Operator, Warehouse in Infantry Units. The VA gave 10% for Tinnitus after some tests. I have been Complaining about my headaches for quite some time, first thing in the morning when I open the blinds my eyes burns, but VA can't figure what's wrong with me.
I am sorry to hear this sir. Thank you for watching

SC for tinnitus and vertigo. Denied secondary for migraines, although i had treatment records from my pcp. (And Migraine log) Hired legal assistance, filed appeal. Denied second time. Advice?
I am sorry to hear this sir. I would follow up with your legal professional for advice on the next step. If you are interested in obtaining a nexus letter please email us at info@prestigeveteranmctx.com
An ENT Dr. gave me a prescription that consists of 4% Lidocaine & 2.5% Prilocaine oil and it doesn’t work for neither my migraines or tinnitus. I can hear perfectly but I have ringing and daily headaches. Also have lipoma on my brain. Nothing helps and I’m tired of meds that make me sleepy but doesn’t work.
I am very sorry to hear this sir. Thank you for watching
I had my exam and when she asked how often I said weekly but on the dbq she wrote monthly. She also put no econ issues but noted I need fmla to work. How do I tackle this. Any advice is appreciated. And I was denied because she said the migraines were transient.
I am so sorry to hear this sir. Have you considered contacting a legal professional? If you are interested in working with us on a letter or DBQ please contact info@prestigeveteranmctx.com
Thanks for the content. Can you help me with my claim?

Im dealing with vertigo and tension headaches could I claim them secondary to Tinnitus?
Hi sir that is a great question! I do not really advise on the filling process but if you believe they are related you certainly could!
Leah, I will be watching TV with my wife. For some reason I would get a terrible pain in my forehead with nausea and dizziness. In fact, I will wake with these same symptoms. I always thought this was related to stomach problems or could it be a migraine? I did receive 10% disability from the Army for tinnitus. Please let me know what you think. 😢😢😢
I am sorry to hear this sir! I would imagine that your treating doctor could give you more insight into what is going on if you follow up with them.
@@prestigeveteranmedical Thank you! I'm following up with my doctor, sleep doctor and psychiatrist. 😊

@@prestigeveteranmedical Hi Leah, update, I just got a letter from LHI. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do?
@@johnnyc5587 well hopefully you will get connected! Keep us posted!!! Maybe call the whitehouse hotline and see if they can just add it on?
Ha. Im guessing thats a joke. I don’t know the process. Your guidance and advise is much appreciated and valued , Thank you
I was an ABH worked on the flight deck for 5 years. It was loud 24/7 Was giving 10% for tinnitus . I have been started to have migraines that are crippling me when I get them. I get them bad and hear the ringing all night that I don't sleep much ? My private Dr been giving me migraine medication . Do I have a chance at a migraine claim ?
For sure sir! Especially if your doc is willing to document that in your treatment records. Thanks for watching!
Will add it to the list! Thanks for watching
Have 50% for migraines. Denied for Meinere’s. Possibly mefloquine exposure and noise exposure?
Hi sir Meniere's is often related to acoustic noise trauma

If you are looking for advice on filling you can always check with your local VSO as they are a free resource for you for that.

I thought if you want to file a secondary claim, you need to provide a nexus/IMO letter, no?
I was 19k tanker on M1A1's.
10% for tinnitus and have migraines. Will try for secondary after i get my appeal decided on. Waited on that since 2011 application and finally got notice saying it was deemed service connected for back issues but need to ve sent back for rating and possible wxam, whatever that means?
that's great to hear! yes they likely need to do the exam to determine what percentage it should be
I have Tinnitus and I been doing this botox treatment my doctor recommended for my migraines nothing works with meds for couple of years now.

I worked on the flight line for 10 years. Have tinnitus/ sensory neuro hearing loss. Have Dx for migraines from my VA dr. What are my chances?
I would say pretty good sir. Go for it!
Hello there could you post the relation between migraines secondary to ptsd, anxiety and/or depression. The vba rater seems to agree with the c&p doctor twice and ruled ptsd is not a direct cause of migraines 😢😢 my IMO was in my favor and they still denied my claim...
Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/v5TYrfN1Vas/видео.html
can it go the other way? I am service connected for tinnitus can I go secondary headaches caused by the tinnitus
This video is specifically about headaches caused by tinnitus. Thank you for watching!
I have service connection for tinnitus but my migraine claim was deffered and now it’s under the pact act. What does this mean exactly
It could mean many things but if you have a legal professional like an accredited claims agent they should be able to look in your file and provide you feedback
Is tthere a cfr or m21 that says if there's medical evidence in equipose then the tie goes to the vet? I heard there is but can't find it. Can someone point in the right direction please.
I am not sure about that sir. Have you discussed your case with a legal professional?
Can family history in va records affect the chances of winning a migraine claim secondary to tinnitus ?
If the examiner believes it is playing a role than it is possible but I would disagree with that personally
Are you capable of writing a nexus nletter?
Yes. If you would like more information please email us at info@prestigeveteranmctx.com
I wonder if my ocular migraines are connected to my service-connected tinnitus? When I get them, all I can do is lay down because of the blurry vision.
Have you discussed this with your eye doctor?
@@prestigeveteranmedical i’ve discussed it with them, but we’ve never made the connection just a diagnosis of the ocular migraine. I will be getting with you guys soon for a couple nexus as per our texting on a couple of different issues. Thanks.
@@maukamarine3083 Sounds good sir looking forward to it
I am 10% for Tinnitus.

I am sorry to hear this sir. Have you followed up with a legal professional?
Not yet I was going to give HLR first@@prestigeveteranmedical
Va denied me migraines secondary to tinitus saying there is no connection between the 2 conditions. I had a nexus from a private doctor as well
There is certainly a connection between those conditions. Have you discussed this with a legal professional?
@@prestigeveteranmedical not yet literally just saw denial letter today
@@prestigeveteranmedical
"The conditions of migraines and tinnitus are not medically related.
Copied and pasted from the denial
I would consider consulting with an accredited legal professional that can help you straighten this out, especially if you had a positive report from your treating doctor @@danielpettit4100

Are meniere syndrome and migraines relatable
Possibly in some people!
IS THERE A CONNECTION BETWEEN TINNITUS AND SLEEP APNEA...
Not a causative or an aggravational one most medical professionals opinions. There is no way that ringing in the ear makes the upper airway collapse
Is it possible to have migraines and sinusitis
yes many people suffer from both conditions
@@prestigeveteranmedical oh ok I asked because I’m trying to figure out which one should I claim. I already claimed migraines but it was deffered.
But I just was diagnosed with mild sinusitis. And this is the second time I have been diagnosed with it First time was January 2020
@@michaelprichett0617 I understand. You may want to check with a legal professional who can assist you with the filling and strategy process.
It is so tough sir I wish you the best of luck with your ongoing claims. You may want to check with a VSO and see what kind of feedback they have on strategy for filling.

And other times i try deal with it but can’t concentrate on anything. Literally people talk to me and give me instructions and I already missed what they just said. They think all the time I don’t understand English (iam foreign born and raised) i do understand. I did SFLTap classes and don’t get all the information, have no idea of what is gonna happen to me outside. Iam going to just reenlist. I don’t see better choice
