'Attemptingtobebusy' says that the middle section lagged, but for me it was the best middle section of any of the performances on You Tube. Romantic and lyrical, as it was written. This performance was a real surprise to me.

la migliore interpretazione che ho mai sentito di questo pezzo.E' difficile rendere un pezzo simile senza sfociare in un semplice dimostrazione di tecnica pianistica.

Just amazing! I'm hoping that I can play this after a few more years study, but as good as this... nearly impossible. This is the best performance of the piece I heard.

I think that much too often, Islamey is played way, waaay too fast, as an ostentatious display of virtuosic skill. Wen-Yu Shen doesn't play it like that at all. You can hear the distinct notes of the gorgeous melody. He brings out the emotion and beauty in the piece that is often lost by those who show off their fast fingers by playing as fast as they can.
Islamey is not a mindless technical showpiece, and as such this is one of the best recordings on RUclips. Bravo.

i don't think that's true, nice playing, maybe, but just maybe the middle section can be played a little bit faster. But i like it, he makes the piano sing this piece.
    Bravo!

nice playing skills, but at times he manipulated the tempo of the piece to be original I guess but threw off the feel of the song,he should get the technicalities down before making adjustments if he wants to be in the ranks of pianists such as Berezowsky,Cziffra, Horowitz. All I'm saying is that if Balakirev heard this he'd be really pissed off

Muted performance. Not bad, but I feel he does not understand this composer.
