Tech, I want you to know how extraordinary this album is in the vaporwave camp and also for plunderphonic-based music in general. The way you blend your own vocals, with original written material and interpolating samples, and the sampled material is revolutionary. I can't tell what is sampled and what is not. The same goes for the instrumentation, everything is blurry in the best way possible. This should (and I hope it will) be regarded as a new stepping stone for vaporwave. Is it too much to call it post-vaporwave? Oh, and I forgot to mention you are making use of the vocals and instrumentation to write art-pop odysseys. I really hope you read this. Know I have an incredible admiration for what you did here (and for what you and your friends make together).
how badly i wish this was able to be put on spotify with how many times ive listened to this since its release, youd all be millionaires LOL, what an incredible record. alien yet intimate, a beautiful representation of the complex emotions we experience in all sorts of relationships, laughing at ourselves, screaming at the injustice of relationships severing, a desperation to feel needed, important, just. everything about this resonates so hard with the human experience while being an absolutely unreal sonic experience. tech strikes gold yet again, stealing another spot in my favorite DDS albums with this and midnight tangerine.
@@karmatraining total misbelief. spotify helps artists to promote music and this attracts greater audience => more profits. there is a small amount of people that are ready to pay 5$ for each bandcamp release, others are forced to use torrent to find music files.
Just constantly amazed how every mixtape in the club just knocks it out of the park. One of the best subscriptions of my life, tbh. So glad this public gets access to this masterpiece.
From "Mystic Quest" to this bro. Holy shit. This gives me hope for my own stuff and for my own growth as a person and producer. Thank you for making something so good that I got out of a weeks-long creative burnout Tech. I'll cherish American Candy forever, just like I do with Classroom Sexxtape.
DDS is so criminally underrated. So prolific I can’t even keep up with their releases. and when I get around to listening I am so consistently blown away
What an absolutely amazing album. Ive lightly enjoyed DDS in the past but this clicks in a way like none of their other albums. When all the layering comes together at the end its a really unique, trascendent experience I haven't really experienced in music in a long time.
Let me start by saying what i feel is cliche at times with comments like this, i never comment on videos, just a consumer. The first song i heard from yall was Messe de E-102, that Anthony Fantano had shared somewhere. Took a listen and was blown away by it. Tried listening to other songs off the darklife album and wasn’t really vibing with it too much, different taste whatever or maybe just not listening to it at the right time idk… but off Messe i knew i was going to enjoy more music from yall and i knew what i found was something special. I just never had the chance or time to really dive into the rest of the music. Fast forward a year or so, i see this album in my recommended. Album cover caught my attention and saw it was something recent and I’m like ok, let’s take a crack at it. Just had a taste of some of the beginning and immediately was like oh yeah this is something i wanna sit down and take the time to just absorb. Added to my watch later and tucked that away. A couple days later got some shrooms and when i’m high off shrooms, music is my go to. Didn’t really have any music or album in specific in mind, and then i remembered this album and I’m like alright let’s see where this goes. The rest is fucking history… wow… was that an experience from beginning to end. I mean wow it was so fucking good. Just being in that world that yall created with this was amazing and i thank yall for that. The energy, and the depth of it all was 10/10. I mean half way through i thought it was ending and I’m like ok that was really good, then i hear something else playing and i look back at my phone like no way it’s still going right…? That had to have been the end? Nope. Just fucking halfway through it and there was another half hour to go. It was a great experience. Glad i found your music and got to hear this amazing album. Respect and love to everyone who worked on this. And even to anyone else who read through this all. I’m assuming or at least hoping yall had an experience like i did, if not better!
probably not bc its really sample heavy, gotta watch out for the copyright hounds of the modern streaming landscape! olivia rodrigo's lawyers might come for their asses
@@AlchemistJijo their albums that go to spotify certainly had their samples cleared. ITLLT is there and that thing is LOADED with samples, I think clearing this one should be easier. I wouldn't discard the possibility that they might do what they did last year with Transcendence Bot, Midnight Tangenrine and Keys to the Door. Or just flat out release it on streaming asap due to its overwhelmingly positive reception.
lol also Faith in Persona is in there and has an Olivia Rodrigo sample. They surely cleared that (and many others, like the Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande samples through the record).
yeah I specifically remember when I released this melodramatic, sample-based, synth-heavy album I realized how much I had copied a fuzzy lo-fi psych rock album that hadn't come out yet
I got high and listened to this and by the time i got to Bae Arisen it felt like my soul was being ripped out.

How the heck did you turn Friday into a tear jerker, what absolute witchcraft have you been doing
And mashing it up with one of Rebecca Black’s newer songs gives it a whole new dimension

Spotify actually pays artists terribly, they would go broke. It's pennies on the dollar for most artists on there.

American Candy song is the most astounding piece of ear candy I've heard in ages. What a fantastic album, DDS does it again
American Candy might be one of the best songs they've put out since the Heavy Black Heart or ITLLT days
The Narcissists Dream part 1 and 2 are the most beautiful and devastating songs on this entire album.
This album is fucking godly, just friends is fucking amazing. I would kill to have the cassette for this but its sold out.
Bae Arisen is transcendental. Thank you Tech Honors.

They do, in fact yesterday they just put one out for this year's quarter
