I'm going to say how amazing we are because we don't boast about how amazing we are. Isn't that amazing of us?
@@bernardfitzsimons6942 She Northern Irish Ulster Scot as far as Iknow.
Its funny because she's Irish and simultaneously a British apologist
no she is british becasue northern ireland is part of the uk
She's Irish
@@davidhunt6922 well she's not English, Scottish or Welsh is she
@@ocomaing ireland is in the british isles technically lad
Kate cites our past greatness which is undeniable.
Come on!! Just look around you. Can you really see any present virtues? Walk around the back streets of Morecambe or Harlepool and tell me we are a great nation, don't just wander through Wells Cathedral.
We are poor and divided.
Name a nation or people who did not enslave their own and others. Name a nation that has not sought to exploit resources in other 'countries'. Name a nation that hasn't gone to war or oppressed it's neighbours.
Foolish comment that only serves to self flagelate yourself in order to demonstrate how progeessive you are. Ironically a priviledge afforded to you by virtue of Great British culture.
@@lostcause6100 Agree, but wondered about Henry VIII seeming a midget? He was about 6ft 2ins which would be more than respectable today, and in his youth considered a fine strapping figure of a man-actually slightly taller than Charles II.
@Frankly Frank What a load of rubbish you spew..it borders on insanity.
@Frankly Frank Oh my God more rubbish
Every country in the world has poor people and the only ones that don't have divisions are dictatorships.
But we're a country where there is such a thing as class-mobility and the fact that we can be divided without it leading to a civil war is easily a mark in our favour.
Listen to Peter Hitchens ..that is a well above average brain you are listening to.
Well there is 10 minutes of my life,i'll never get back! Utter nonsense!
What a sick world we live in when being proud of one's nation is regarded with disdain. The rise of the anti-authoritarian egocentric fills me with disgust.
@James Dowds you'll live in the real world or disbelieve in nationhood. You cant do both.
Half of her Northern Irish countrymen would disagree. She calls her country British. They call it Irish. She sees her ancestors as having fought for the liberties enjoyed by everyone today. They see her ancestors as having fought against their ancestral native leaders and stolen their land. Potato/Tomato.
Britain was once the most powerful country in the world. And it laid the groundwork for what would become todays most powerful country, the USA. But I'm not so sure that the world still looks to Britain for leadership today as she claims. Certain countries probably do, but many more countries are standing back and watching to see how Brexit turns out for Britain.
she is truly deluded
Not only is Kate extremely racist but she is wildly unpleasant and I suspect not too bright. I met her once and that was enough for a lifetime
"Politicians are *always* exaggerating..." I liked that :P
Introduced by a bloody Dalek.
One of the foibles of course is not combing your hair before appearing on TV. Just watch Boris Johnson.
When one Nation thinks it is greater than the other the disaster starts. All the best from germany.
Not necessarily, the problem is if you let opposing side in you get elites in charge who don't think their country is worth protecting and that when a greater disaster occurs. Look at Sweden and Germany. If it wasn't for people who think Germany is worth protecting Merkal would have brought in more economic migrants and that would truly destroy Germany. Germany recovered from WW2 but can I don't think it can recover from demographics.
All nations value there own nation over others but we don’t go to war all the time. The pretext that one nation is superior to another is used by politicians to go to war.
@@Dave-ws9pt Not necessarily but probably. We called it "Herrenmensch" the americans "exeptionalism" and so on. When two of these Nations clash - they will sooner or later fight. When do they ever learn?
@@NyalBurns Not all the time but far to often.
@@minimax9452 Can you give an example say in the last 100 years were this is the main reason except for Germany 1940's? I think this is what we get told why wars start but in fact it is usually for other reasons not just thinking that my country is better.
'We dont blow enough of our own trumpet as a country' , I cant count on my hands how many overly patriotic brits I've encountered
We are a great nation just abit of a depressed nation. We lost our self-belief.
🇬🇧👌
You were once a GREAT nation !!! but you lost your British identity through 40 years of imposd " Multiculturalism " ......thus, the loss of self-belief ??? .... for NOW I would argue, you are a mix of incompatible races/religions/cultures ...... rather than a HOMOGENIOUS country you once were ?
Jim Bowden
Agreed. We’ll get there in the end. The European project has been devastating for Britain really.
Raymond Pockett
Yes I agree mate the Labour Party’s best MP’s got wiped out on the last election. It looks like we’re moving towards a single party conservative ran nation.
There has to be either a revival or a new party take the helm. There is literally no viable opposition anymore. The Europhiles have dominated the whole establishment an no-one wants them anymore.
Raymond Pockett
I’m a conservative member.
But very much respect the older generation of labour MP’s you know Tony Benn figures and the MP’s that haven’t been drawn into this woke generation of identity politics. My worry though is this nation needs a decent opposition. 🇬🇧 🏴

how many boats?? give it up Kate you know you are talking bollocks
Nothing says greatness like prefixing "Great" to your title and then getting dinosaur politicians to reiterate said (self proclaimed) Greatness. In this case a politician who looks like she just crawled out a crypt. Surely if you ARE "Great" you don't need to convince anyone? Maybe a rethink of the word Great. And if the strive for Greatness continues in the way that seems likely (crash out) you might want to rethink the word Britain as Scotland looks likely to say Cheerio. Great!
Rory McIlroy represented Ireland in the Olympics not GB
Her party destroyed England
Yep.
JPV JPV yeah right - everything’s the fault of the left - you knob
@@adamsmith307 Why must you be vulgar? were you raised in a pigsty!
Her party have been in power for just 11 of the last 69 years (Blair was a Thatcherite in all but name). The UK repeatedly returns the most right wing governments in the G20, yet the Labour Party are somehow responsible for the nation's ills. I'm not a Labour tribalist by any measure, but that kind of lazy talk is more evidence that the English just can't - and won't - see straight. The most successful post-war Prime Minister by almost every metric was John Major, for example, whose centre-right administration left the UK better off on almost every count in 1997, but he is repeatedly lambasted as one of the worst because he didn't press the right buttons for the deluded John Bulls of Little England. Those people are fools; they see what they want to see, and will quite happily sh*t in their own beds - and everyone else's - every time some plain-speaking conman waves a Union Jack in their faces and promises a return to the "glory days". No wonder Farage is always laughing.
@Tinita Bondi Labour were out of office in the 50's; It was THE CONSERVATIVES who're responsible for Windrush! The Tories under Churchill, Eden, Macmillan and Home were in power from '51 to '64, and when they left office the Labour administration immediately had to cope with the negative consequences of a massive trade deficit because of a complacent, elitist, old-boy-network management culture that had ruined British industry - it might look nice on the old Pathe newsreels, but Britain was decadent under the tories. Mass immigration was always designed to satisfy the needs of capital, not ideology! It was Wilson who attempted to take the most decisive steps of any postwar PM to limit reduction from 1968. Labour have made a huge raft of mistakes, but so have the Cons, who've dominated UK politics post-Atlee. The British Conservative Party now describe themselves as the most electorally successful political party in history, so shouldn't that be enough to tell you where some (but not all) of the problem lies. They've had more than enough time.
Urgh! I see she wasn't interrupted incessantly with adverts for banks
Irish people just want to be left alone to be Irish, Latvians just want to be left alone to be Latvians, the Vietnamese just want to be left alone to be Vietnamese, the English just want to be "great" again. smh...
A Labour MP who doesn't hate Britain is sadly as rare as hen's teeth.
EU is not your family but Commonwealth countries are?! I guess she's excited about all those vibrant new immigrants from Africa.
Sound like the democracy is great but GB didn’t invent that. Not sure about being a welcoming country either because your example of Brexit as a result of a Democratic system is ironically also the epitome of closeness, of telling the people to “Go back to your own country!”.
It looks to me like women of Britain are very patriotic and they love their country no matter what others say, when men of Britain are in doubts about their country's state of greatness... I hear pretty much the same debate in every other country these days with pretty much the same gender-distribution of opinions. Might that be some anthropology in this more than anything else?
Kate Hooey spouted a load of jingoistic waffle with few facts. The UK economy has gone from strongest and richest in the world just over 100 years ago to 26th on GDP per head and falling. On total GDP we are 6th and will fall to 7th soon. We have low and flat productivity, a terrible balance of payments deficit, low long term investment levels, clapped out infrastructure outside of London, worn out roads, crummy expensive privatised trains,. Most public assets were sold off to pay for past tax cuts to re-elect Tories. The UK has a shocking 7/10 of all the poorest regions in Northern Europe.
Dismal.
She is not a good person.
Maverick Blairite. She has nothing of importance to say.

Will Self-loathing: slaggs off our Queen, her Government and even her son. Fails to realise how Great this country is, when he's not incarcerated or dead. I'm sure his full stomach and his thirst quenched with a soya latte float right over his head too. Although the fact a man who looks like he's about to slash his wrists get such a platform does raise a few questions?
Quite true.
What a ridiculous speech.
