Wow. This video was made awhile ago. Wife just bought me this axe for Fathers Day and I have been out all day today knocking down trees and it has been working amazing for me. Love this axe.
Thank you for another fine video. I enjoy the productions of all of your adventures which allow me to take a mental venture into the woods when life is to busy to spare the time. This axe looks like a beast, and it proves to be great entertainment watching it chop through some formidable logs!
@SpartanMonkee Yes, the overall quality is generally lower. Sometimes the alignments are off, or the grain bad. Or the edge is crap. Sometimes you get a nice one. With GB I know I am getting a good one.
I'd suggest that basic specs include essential data like the (included) grind angle of the bit, whether it's convex or scandi, whether there's a rolled edge, whether there's a high cheek centreline or it's flat.
Good video. I would like to see more of a body shot holding each axe to give a better perspective on size. Is the SFA a little too short, is the AFA a little long? I would like some visual to really be able to judge and compare the size difference.
great one again my friend this is probably my next GBA .... maby a kubben will slip in before this one haha. just got my " Ray Mears Wilderness Axe" the other day, and i hope i can go out and try it out this weekend. and again thanks for the great video man...
@ihaveairlockers By what maker? The other side is if its even available to a US buyer. Because I sure have not found any making axes like this in Norge. Enlighten us please...
@ihaveairlockers Sorry for my english... Actually When i Worked there with Lars he also made some Norwegian models. But, that was actually a separate company in the same building cooperating with GB during that time. Guess tha reason was those Swedish made was a bit cheaper because as i know in Norway som models was only availabel as exclusive custom made. Unfortunatley he´s company does not exist anymore and with that all custom or small serie models is no longer in production there.
Been looking into getting one, and might after Christmas. After using it for a few years now, what do you think of it? Overall use wise, I know its an axe and i chops, but its always nice to get a users take on things. Bill
Its a great axe nothing more I could say really. Great profile. Out of the box I think the handle is way too thick. I thinned mine out a lot before I think the axe was just right. However the downside is since I have been hafting my own heads I have not used this axe in some time. Even considered posting it up for sale. Not sure yet.
Thank you sir, the measuraments of the the scandinavian forest axe will work for me. I just need to know what stock they start to forge the axe with. The lenght and thickness of the poll tells that. I´m a blacksmith and want to give a try on forge one of this type of axes. I looked everywhere and couldn´t find no one saying the complete measurements like you did. By the way, thank you for the nice video.
@ihaveairlockers I like the semi and fully custom options like GB. Øyo looks to be production, with paint on their handles (yikes). The smaller makers are just to difficult to find from my location. I would like to see a company step up in Norge and give GB a run for their money. Until then I guess I go with what I know. With GB I can at least have one hand picked for me according to my preferences and so on. Not to mention just far easier to get my hands on. We can continue this convo in PM ;)
I would go with Autine by John Neeman, although GB is the best for price. If you can't afford an axe from Autine; well, maybe you need to find a better paying job.... :o

@Diopterman See my last outing video with the axe. Gives a few more references on scale of the two axes.

@steintanz For a felling axe it is a small sized head. My true temper feller is larger than this one.

They are in Sweden.
Hi, what is the music at the end?
@SkogKniv Oh, alright - didn't know that. Thx!
Thanks, great info as always.
How well does it hold an edge?
Hello, can you tell me the measuraments for poll of the gransfors bruks small forest axe? The lenght and thickness? Thank you sir

You dont need reviews on gränsford bruks. They are the best axe around.
