I can't help but believe that Lester and Earl would have given their stamp of approval on this version. It sounds pure...it sounds right...and just listen to that virtuoso on the banjo!
Fingers crossed to see - LEGEND- Bobby Osborne. Going to the Bluegrass festival in Hyden, Kentucky in early August 2022. For me it will be like seeing Ray Charles, , Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Itzak Pearlman, Freddy Mercury, etc...etc...etc. All masters at their craft...like Mr. Osborne ❤
Sonny, man he is great! Such a fine traditional Bluegrass sound. No trick electronics here! Love that "chugging" rhythm and slight speed change slower then faster. Just great!
this is everything that Country music should be . Country music is Gated Community crap or trailer park alcholism no songs about actual life experiences
+Chuck van dijk I am like sonny can hold an note like only a few performers in the world. you know I am talking about RUBY. patty loveless can do it with ralph Stanley on pretty polly. I can do it sometimes but only if I am tipsy and it just comes to me. I think I am a tenor. so is ralph. remember when ralph lost his brother due to drinking? he picked up keith whitley to sing lead. and we know what happened there. history repeats itself
Some instruments play the right note at the right time and some musicians know what to play before it happens and wait patiently.....Until, thay one day everyone moves to satisfy your ego and plays that one note you could of played this entire time
some of the best bluegrass ever. props to earl scruggs as well, EARL SCRUGGS & STEVE MARTIN - DUELING BANJOS-EARLSCRUGGS DEAD AT 88-WEB-GIFTS.COM ....with steve martin ... OH YES!!!
I've heard different versions They do a good job But when it comes to the original version I prefer how Earl Scruggs does it and Lester Flatt and the way that girl Scruggs does the camera part and the way that he does the end part on the banjo I've never heard anybody else ever do that except him
I think they are both dead. just like tammy and George keith whitley --Minnie pearl and my mom and dad. flatt and scrugs. everyone on the Beverly hillbillies. pearl don't give to earl.i lived in Nashville for about 10 years. I grew up in manassas va, fished on the rhap river--where the fish would jump on the line--I could only guess that those memories are gentle on my mind ps I did see a ufo close to washinton dc.i have done almost everything in this world except win the lottery-but I still have hope
The Osborne brothers are still alive Bobby Osborne still tours with his band rocky top express and Sonny is retired two of the best to ever pick and sing!!! Check out the young Osborne brothers on the Marty Robins show its one of my favorite Osborne brothers videos.
+Mike Libertycon I saw ralph in concert and he was so old he had piece of paper to remind himself of the words. it was actually very cute. I did not tell you about my book I inherited from my parents. pictures of mom and dad me and my sister hanging around bluegrass festivals and country music festivals. it is just part of me. I used to live in Nashville and just lived down the street from several of the artists Waylon I think Scruggs and garth and sandy brooks who worked at the boot store. . of course the oak ridge boys in sumner county. horrible tornado ripped through there and damaged their homes.now we see stars living in franklin tn. I lived in old hickory home of Andrew Jackson faron young and I have a funny story to tell. I heard that faron and willie nelson were working on a song together and faron got a call on the phone. by the time faron got off the phone-willie had wrote the song by himself. that song was called HELLO WALLS.
Sonny is still alive. He teaches Banjo at a College. He had to retire from Professionally playing, because of his Rotary Cup in his Right Shoulder. Like Tendonitis. The Opry, honored Sonny, along with Bobby, for 50 years at the Opry,in 1964,even though Sonny, retired. Google his name :Sonny Osborne.
Rest in God's eternal peace Mr. Bobby, thanks for being one of the all time greats in bluegrass.🙏
Just simply some of the best music ever
Well said my friend!
Best music ever.Never will be anything that can compare to this.
love this music. the Osborne brothers are great.

I always wonder how singers can remember all the words and notes of every song they sing. They have to be very talented and intelligent.

Thanks Pinecastle Records for the song. Listened to it over and over.
Sublime picking and singing from all involved. The guy on the dobro was superb.
Gene Wooten. He was a fantastic musician.

Wonderfull
Sonny and Bobby are alive and well, people. Sonny's retired from playing, and Bobby still performs with his band The Rocky Top Express.

up day
Hell of a version! Check out Flatt and Scruggs original too!!!
That looks like the late great Gene Wooten, on the Dobro...
on Dobro is playing Gene Wooten I believe
Yes,that is the Late,Great,Gene Wooten,on Dobro.
The longer you hold a note, the more you can think about something else besides what you're doing.
❤
Sonny quit performing publicly some time ago. Bobby is still active.
None better the best

That's not fair. Sonny is out-Scruggsing Scruggs.
some of the best bluegrass ever. props to earl scruggs as well, EARL SCRUGGS & STEVE MARTIN - DUELING BANJOS-EARLSCRUGGS DEAD AT 88-WEB-GIFTS.COM
....with steve martin ... OH YES!!!
Was there a reason behind Bobby wearing the pimp hat and shades?
Frank Pierce yes. Sonny Osbourne had retina problems and bright lights hurt his eyes.
E Klontz That's Bobby with sunglasses not Sonny....
He was the shit!! And knew it!
I can't believe many people in the audience weren't even applauding after a performance like that. Shameful.
Frank Pierce they where mesmerized!!
I too ache and, worry. OHHHH!! (what is the measure of a man?)

+Mike Libertycon Sonny had a stroke in 2011, but still lives.

Anyone connected with auto pause should be named then fired and blackballed.
sonny died bobbys still alive
Sonny had a stroke in 2011, but is still living. Retired from playing. Bobby also is alive and still performing.

i love the osborne brothers but this song is off. Bobby does not seem to enjoy singing it. It is not as good as most of the songs they do.
You could just as easily liked the Osborne Brothers sound better than the first recording.
No disrespect but I saw something totally different, he started smiling over to one band member cause he was mesmerizing someone in the crowd.
❤
