Not sure if this was mentioned, but if you right click with a configurator it shows you the problems. My problem was that i had an invisible magelight chilling around in the center of the structure
If it blew up, you definitely missed something. The things that can cause it to blow up: -Not enough coolant being pushed into the rector -not enough energy storage so the steam backfills into the reactor -chunk loading issues if you leave the reactor running, especially when offline The redstone contraption i show at the end of the video should fix all but the chunk loading issue though
another tip: the amount of vents is usually exaggerated, a 5x5x5 reactor like the one in this video, at it's max burn rate of 10mb/t, will boil 200000mb/t of water and produce that exact same amount of steam per tick. and, one vent on that turbine will handle 300000/t. *BUT! i recommend having two vents, and a dual channel for the coolant, because the ultimate pipe's TRANSFER RATE is 128000mb/t.* note that the PUMP RATE here doesn't matter, because the vents automatically eject, the pipe doesn't need to pump. however, an example where the pipes NEED TO PUMP, is, when you're pumping water from the cooking for blockhead's sink.

I assumed I wouldn't either till I set up an ore quintuple machine and saw how bad my Powah was at keeping up. It was surprisingly simpler than I thought and what I built was bigger than what hell shows off here.
WARNING: At least in the 1.20.1 version, if the internal energy buffer of the turbine fills, the turbine will stop spinning and WILL NOT CONDENSATE WATER ANYMORE, and the system will run out of water and the reactor will overheat, no matter if it's set to idle, dumping excess, or dumping.
@@thewaytodrown8473 check the reactor's boil rate, and check if your pipes can handle the flow, the pipe's TRANSFER RATE, NOT PUMP RATE, should be greater than the boil rate. pressurized tubes have much greater transfer rate than mechanical pipes, so the bottleneck is likely coming from insufficient water returning from the turbine. if the reactor's boil rate exceeds the ultimate mechanical pipe's transfer rate/capacity, add a second channel, and on the turbine, make sure the max water output (from the condensators) and the max flow (disperses and vents, you probably have the 8 disperses around the rotational complex so it would likely be the vents) are greater than the boil rate of the reactor

Great video, it helped me a lot! In my case, I had to add one sink for every 1mb/t. For example: 15mb/t = 15 sink to make it work and not explode. Playing on the FTB Direwolf20 1.19.2 modpack!
That's an insane amount of sinks! Once its full, it should have enough fluids to be endless as long as you have enough saturating condensers because there's nowhere for the water to go 🤔
the bottleneck is not the sink, the sink makes literally infinite water/t, it's the pump rate of the pipes. so you can just connect more pipes to the same sink
I always end up with this exact situation: Turning the machine off right before it gets dammaged from a lack of water, due to the heat rises so fast. Do I set the turbine to "dumping", "dumping acces" or "idle"? And how on earth, can i "set it and forget it" so that it doesn't overheat so easely. Perhaps you could do a video simplifying the COOLING PROCCESS for absolute idiots when it comes to this subject *like me lmao*
As long as you have enough energy storage (so the steam doesn't back up) and you have enough saturating condensers and pump the water back into the reactor then it shouldn't explode. The big one is making sure you have some sort of overflow to dump the excess energy. Dump excess might work but I've found it's not 100 % so I just add either a huge battery or some sort of energy trashcan as a safety measure
Thank you for a good tutorial :) I set up a fission reactor to produce polonium pellets. I had 2 explosions of the fission reactor so far, and more to come. 1st time it happened because of coolant shortage (water cooling). I didn't have enough saturating condensers in the turbine, so i had to build a few more levels higher to keep up with the demand. 2nd time it happened when i hooked up SPS. This happened because of internal storage of energy of the SPS got full, and therefore the turbines storage also stacked up and therefore it stopped producing enough water for the fission reactor. The SPS stopped when it didn't get enough polonium which is only produced at day with the solar neutron activator. Resistive heaters is a good option to waste all the energy that the turbine generates so it's always producing enough water for the fission reactor. If producing polonium pellets is the goal.
So how would you get the energy out and store it inside an infusion matrix? I have the matrix done with ultimate provider and energy cube but would ender cells from Powah transfer the energy?

Topic one, how to make an energy excess drainage system to avoid a meltdown due to energy not being used/stored. and Topic two, how to safely empty or move the radioactive waste bin connected to the reactor. I am not knowledgeable enough in the mod to know but I really want to make this thing and can't after seeing all the comments lol. I do not want to blow up my base.
haha don't worry! All you need to do with the nuclear waste is pump it into another waste bin and hide it somewhere, or if you're going down the antimatter route, process it that way :) I do have a guide on fusion and antimatter that would help with that one! In terms of the energy, any sort of annihilator, trashcan or even making an induction matrix which is big enough would work super well!
I'm having some troubles with the yellow cake uranium. I'm trying to use refined storage to auto-craft them, but my crafting monitor says that "no machine is found". The crafter is connected to the enriching machine and it works for other enriched things - yellow cake uranium is the only thing that it can't find the machine for. Any ideas on what the issue could be? Oh and btw, great video!;)
Thanks! It should just be an enrichment chamber. I've not tried connecting RS up to it so I'm not sure why it wouldn't pick it up. Have you tried outside of RS to see if it works?
For some reason nothing happens when I activate my Fission reactor : the burning rate stays at 0 mb/t even if I increase the rate limit in the stats. Any idea ?
Well, I wasn't checking the temperature and apparently these things tend to explode at like %200 damage or a little bit over that. Good thing I had a backup.
This was a great tutorial, however people need to know that this uses so much water that one line of ultimate mechanical pipe is not enough. It is better to completely fill in between the reactor and the turbine with ultimate mechanical pipes and add more valves to the reactor if you want to have it be at a rated speed of more than 1mb/t.
currently playing on ftb direwolf 1.20 and im building this, i have it built up until the water being filled up. i have the pipe against the sink but it wont actually connect and produce water, what mod was the sink in the video? the one in the modpack is CookingForBlockHeads?
I know this was posted years ago so things might have changed, but i have tried everything i can think of to change the block from input to waste. It only seems to cycle through input and output coolant and output steam, and pipes wont connect?

Im having the same issue. I have every step done and triple checked. I even filled an ultimate energy cube and tried powering it that way, still doesnt turn on. He didn't show him powering it on with the energy cube so im assuming he might have used the configurator to change the way it connects to the turbine valve. not sure though

@@Ishanttomar-bx3wg basically, I figured it out, but you wont be happy about it: first you need an electrolytic seperator, fill it with water, get the O2 from it into an pressurized reaction chamber, add water and coal, get the sulfur dust with some fluorite into an chemical dissolution chamber, and put that outcome into an chemical infuser, then youll also need an enrichment chamber where you put uranium inside, get the outcome into an chemical oxidizer, and mix the outcome from that into the chemical infuser, and fill the product into an isotopic centrifuge. The outcome from that thing is the fuel. And that stuff goes in over the green fission reactor port
What is a boiler for then? I thought I could make a boiler to power the turbine, but it requires more power to heat the boiler than I get power from the reactor in form of steam.
Do you plan to cover the induction matrix? Right now I am finding my matrix is insufficient to handle the power the turbine is making. I am using water coolant too, but maybe a water VS sodium coolant part 2 would be good too. I am now building my SPS and looking into the fusion reactor too.
I hadn't planned on doing the induction matrix but maybe in the future. I am planning on covering fusion (it was meant to be in this video but it would have just been too much) so there's definitely room to expand
@@Hellfirem4ge the reason I asked about induction is I have heard that if the turbine can't output power and fills up then coolant can't flow into it leading to the reactor overheating. So the induction matrix is a power buffer

@@sirhugobigdogbest way to ensure this never happens is that your induction matrix is way oversized for your usecase. May Induction matrix has 200Tfe of Capacity. That should keep it running a while. And when you have the Sps then your storage filling up will never be a problem anymore...
So with the induction matrix if you do say a 5x5x5 you only need 4 providers and the rest will be cells. I always recommend that you slowly turn up your reactor in increments of 5 till you hit the threshold of your whole system. Also remember ditch the pipes and go port to port. That way your transfer rate is throttled by your pipes. The ports will transfer at a unlimited rate.
So if you set it up correctly, you don't actually need to be pumping any more water in, so you could use that setup to fill the reactor, it would just take a long while. Just make sure that you turn it on, wait for the water level to drop, then turn it off and fill it up again to keep it flowing 😊
is there a reason my turbine reactor won't accept power? i have connected universal cable and it does not have any power, my guess is that it has so little that it doesn't show
hey, i made my fission reactor, filling it up with 6 electric pumps with speed upgrades, after that i made the turbine and connected it to the coolant, it's receiveing a lot of steam but even with the electric pumps and the water output of the turbine i can't use the reactor above a 0.3 burn rate, otherwise it goes out of water. it's been 3 days that i'm having this problem and i literally can't solve
@@gutty1988 sorry, I mean do you have pipes coming from the vents in your turbine to pull the water out and back into the reactor? That way you should have an endless loop of cooling
@@gutty1988 do you have enough condsensers in the turbine? Is the flow rate of the pipes from the turbine high enough? There's a few things like that which can affect it, but I know I can run at around 15 with the setup I have without running out of coolant
im stuck making the turbine. apparently i need a "Rotor bearing" made a few but cant figure where i need to put it. nor can i find anywhere online (at least for the last 2 days of looking) that can help me
set it up exactly how you did in your video. and that when i got a notice when i right clicked the turbine i got a message saying "Turbines require exactly one bearing"
Figured out the bearing thing. Was from another mod that I didn't uninstall completely. Did a fresh install and new save. But still having issues with the turbine. Built it exactly as you have here as a test run and it doesn't light up
I configured my turbine and reactor exactly how you did before going into discussing fissile fuel. All the coolant is connected from a body of water as it should be, and is connected where it needs to go. My coolant ran out a minute into running the machines. Why is that?

I thought I was supposed to wait until the reactor is full of water, then the vapor gets put in the turbine through the pressurized tube on the bottom. Im using ultra quality mechanical tubing to pump water into reactor using a pump that is speed modified and everything, but the reactor takes foreverrrrrr to fill up when it runs out of coolant.
@@mossghitsli6983 yes, it definitely needs to be full of water when the turbine is full and then you'll have a system that never needs the water replacing, but if you just turn the coolant into steam, there'll be no coolant left to cool the reactor ☺️
I figured it out and got it working. I ramped up the burn rate of the reactor by 2, would let the water flow back in, then turned it up more. It worked for about 4 minutes but then started overheating at burn rate of 12 or 13. Hit the scram button, and saw the temp creep back down. The reactor was receiving constant damage and I couldnt figure out how to stop it and it blew up. Since this is a shared personal server, I begrudgingly reverted the world to a backup save from 3 hours prior. This undid my mistake of it blowing up. Sadly, it also undid my awesome implementation of the fissile fuel refinery chain. What I wanna know is what caused the reactor to blow even after I turned it off? Was it backpressure from the water or vapors? I had the turbine set to IDLE instead of DUMP EXCESS so idk if that matters. @@Hellfirem4ge
@@mossghitsli6983 so as soon as the temperature gets too high, the damage will keep ramping up until you inject some emergency coolant to bring the temperature back down, so even if you hit scram, it can still blow up. That's why I set up the emergency coolant system at the end of the video to stop that happening ☺️ I would make sure you also have enough energy storage, that causes a lot of issues if you don't dump the excess energy because the steam goes back into the reactor and raises the temperature like crazy!
My turbines never spun, it overheated and blew up. I wounder if it matters what hose upgrade you use and I would love to know the power source to use cause every "How to" uses source blocks not in survival for power.
You definitely need a lot of strong pumps to keep up with the reactor, it burns through a lot of water, but as long as it's completely full before you turn it on, and you refill it once when it is on, it should make an infinite loop. It sounds like you didn't give it enough time to fill up fully

Just made (almost) the entire thing like the tutorial said it, but for some reason, the tirbine isnt working while the reactor itself does (no interface). Im so confused about it. Any idea what I couldve made wrong?
Normally the issues are: - It's too tall (fans don't fit) - The configuration of the magnet and motor is wrong - there's a random glass block inside the reactor or an input missing Beyond that it's kinda trial and error tbh. Make sure your modpack doesn't need structural glass too
Just figured out, that I used the wrong blocks, since I didnt foznd the needed Block in the creative inventory for Mekansim at the turbine parts. Fixed it and it worked
you have your setup wrong. dont put pipes between the turbine and reactor. go port to port. will run and work 10x better. thats the way the devs designed it. that way you dont need to supply it with coolant once you turn it on even at max level
Have you checked that they're configured to pull from the water source and that the reactor is completed and the UI comes up? Those are the most common ones :)
@@Hellfirem4ge now i have a different problem, im currently playing on my multiplayer server with my friend and the chemical tank wont output the fissile fuel for some reason, i have tried using better pressurized pipes and changing the input/outputs of the pipes and chemical tank, any idea why?

I have the turbine and reactor built but I went to go make the fuel and in order to get uranium long story short it’s luck to come across a toxic cave. Natures compass doesn’t work need the cave tablet in order to find a tablet you find it in a unground cabin. How you find an underground cabin luck. Then when you find tablet you have to decrypt it. Without braking it. So it’s 100% luck if you find a tablet and 100% luck if you decrypt it. Then and only then can you find the toxic caves biome. That doesn’t include making hazmat suits so you don’t die. I am on valhesia 6 mod pack. Really could use some help bc there is no way I did all this work just for uranium to be 100% luck to stumble upon even when looking for the things you need.
I’m having an issue where I can see both the turbine and reactors interface but when I activate the reactor, there is no burn rate or heating rate. Nothing happens. I’ve looked through the comments and found the structural glass switch from reactor glass for the turbine and it hasn’t helped. My coolant tank is filled with water all the way. I have everything connected with the correct cables, my reactor ports are configured to the right setting. I have the second turbine valve connected to an ultimate energy cube for power. Still nothing. Any help? Thanks
@@Hellfirem4ge actually, i just rewatched your video. And saw that the moment your reactor turned on, there was fissile fuel in your fuel tank. Did I completely miss that part? I need to have fissile fuel in the ultimate fuel tank in order for it to work?

But it seems in your setup, you dont have any universal cables for power. Are they underground in your setup? Not sure if you even need the power. Thanks in advance
I followed every steps 2 times and it blowed up each times , i really dont know what im doing wrong i set the fission reactor to 0.3 so it doesn't absorb too much water beacause i dont have the sink like you have so im using water pump and i need a lot of them and i added some waste barrel in case , after 5minute trying to build the setup for the fuel i turn around and it was all explode , The mod Mekanism was really fun until this part , maybe you should use something else other than the sink next time so people dont have to struggle with a other solution ?
If you may I have another question I was wondering how you got the water to fill up the fission reactor so fast is there another pump besides the regular pump because originally, I used 32 pumps and I only just a little bit of coolant.
@@antsforever1356 I think in the video I used mekanism pipes and a sink from cooking with blockheads but having a lot of pumps is probably the way to go with normal mekanism. Thankfully you don't lose water over time so you only need to fill it once

If everything goes well then yes. The problem is that with chunk loading etc, stuff doesn't always work perfectly. You should be aiming for the system to never go off, rather than have it go off and reset

Same here, it seems external source of water is needed, and using the electric pump from Mekanism is just not fast enough, sink from Cooking for Blockheads is a good source tho.
If nothing connects then you haven't built it correctly. Double check there's no missing/additional blocks and there may be different requirements depending on your modpack
If you have mekanism installed, there should just be ore underground. The main thing to check though is that the chunks were loaded after mekanism was installed or it won't work
I'm trying to build this with just Mekanism and Mekanism Generators, I can't get this to work nor the water sink, which mod is it? This is too confusing and I'm trying to build this on a server, any tips?

Heya, I’m working with Lystior on making this whole mekanism build (i need chorus fruit and our server won’t go to the end until friday) - I managed to crank out the final components needed cus his ass kept delaying / complaining Frankly I’m not the best at mekanism, hell, this is the first I’ve done, but as I play the role of the ARS mage I’ve been gathering materials. Assuming you’re aiding him with the nuclear reactor, would you say we’re clear to start on a fusion reactor the moment the fission reactor is finished? I’ve got a hell of a short college day tomorrow so I plan to crank out mekanism whilst he does his exams.
@reggerdernoobs2678 I would recommend filling some tanks with water from mekanism and pumping it in. Start the reactor on a low level and slowly increase it until you have your infinite loop

When I built mine found out it was an energy issue built a Resistive heater set it to max and have been running the reactor at 100% with no issues.

@@thewaytodrown8473 check the reactor's boil rate, and check if your pipes can handle the flow, the pipe's TRANSFER RATE, NOT PUMP RATE, should be greater than the boil rate. pressurized tubes have much greater transfer rate than mechanical pipes, so the bottleneck is likely coming from insufficient water returning from the turbine. if the reactor's boil rate exceeds the ultimate mechanical pipe's transfer rate/capacity, add a second channel, and on the turbine, make sure the max water output (from the condensators) and the max flow (disperses and vents, you probably have the 8 disperses around the rotational complex so it would likely be the vents) are greater than the boil rate of the reactor
test the theory out can confirm 250% damage has been made.

Great video, it helped me a lot! In my case, I had to add one sink for every 1mb/t. For example: 15mb/t = 15 sink to make it work and not explode. Playing on the FTB Direwolf20 1.19.2 modpack!
That's an insane amount of sinks! Once its full, it should have enough fluids to be endless as long as you have enough saturating condensers because there's nowhere for the water to go 🤔
the bottleneck is not the sink, the sink makes literally infinite water/t, it's the pump rate of the pipes. so you can just connect more pipes to the same sink

I always end up with this exact situation:
Turning the machine off right before it gets dammaged from a lack of water, due to the heat rises so fast. Do I set the turbine to "dumping", "dumping acces" or "idle"? And how on earth, can i "set it and forget it" so that it doesn't overheat so easely. Perhaps you could do a video simplifying the COOLING PROCCESS for absolute idiots when it comes to this subject *like me lmao*
As long as you have enough energy storage (so the steam doesn't back up) and you have enough saturating condensers and pump the water back into the reactor then it shouldn't explode. The big one is making sure you have some sort of overflow to dump the excess energy. Dump excess might work but I've found it's not 100 % so I just add either a huge battery or some sort of energy trashcan as a safety measure

I set up a fission reactor to produce polonium pellets.
I had 2 explosions of the fission reactor so far, and more to come.
1st time it happened because of coolant shortage (water cooling). I didn't have enough saturating condensers in the turbine, so i had to build a few more levels higher to keep up with the demand.
2nd time it happened when i hooked up SPS. This happened because of internal storage of energy of the SPS got full, and therefore the turbines storage also stacked up and therefore it stopped producing enough water for the fission reactor. The SPS stopped when it didn't get enough polonium which is only produced at day with the solar neutron activator.
Resistive heaters is a good option to waste all the energy that the turbine generates so it's always producing enough water for the fission reactor. If producing polonium pellets is the goal.

You can leave it running if you want to, it's just in case you don't have an unlimited amount of fluid stockpiled

Topic one, how to make an energy excess drainage system to avoid a meltdown due to energy not being used/stored. and Topic two, how to safely empty or move the radioactive waste bin connected to the reactor. I am not knowledgeable enough in the mod to know but I really want to make this thing and can't after seeing all the comments lol. I do not want to blow up my base.
haha don't worry! All you need to do with the nuclear waste is pump it into another waste bin and hide it somewhere, or if you're going down the antimatter route, process it that way :) I do have a guide on fusion and antimatter that would help with that one!
In terms of the energy, any sort of annihilator, trashcan or even making an induction matrix which is big enough would work super well!
I'm having some troubles with the yellow cake uranium. I'm trying to use refined storage to auto-craft them, but my crafting monitor says that "no machine is found". The crafter is connected to the enriching machine and it works for other enriched things - yellow cake uranium is the only thing that it can't find the machine for. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Thanks! It should just be an enrichment chamber. I've not tried connecting RS up to it so I'm not sure why it wouldn't pick it up. Have you tried outside of RS to see if it works?
I have my crafter with a cheat in front comected to the enrochment chamber then an imported on the enrichment chamber the the system
For some reason nothing happens when I activate my Fission reactor : the burning rate stays at 0 mb/t even if I increase the rate limit in the stats. Any idea ?

What pipes are you using? I can’t get anything to connect when trying to make the fissile fuel. There’s multiple pipes in the video it seems
So for most of them you need ones that transfer gas, so the pressurized tubes but some things need normal pipes

Make sure the configuration is set correctly in the enrichment chamber. It allows you to restrict which sides things can go into

Well, I wasn't checking the temperature and apparently these things tend to explode at like %200 damage or a little bit over that. Good thing I had a backup.

This was a great tutorial, however people need to know that this uses so much water that one line of ultimate mechanical pipe is not enough. It is better to completely fill in between the reactor and the turbine with ultimate mechanical pipes and add more valves to the reactor if you want to have it be at a rated speed of more than 1mb/t.

Im having the same issue. I have every step done and triple checked. I even filled an ultimate energy cube and tried powering it that way, still doesnt turn on. He didn't show him powering it on with the energy cube so im assuming he might have used the configurator to change the way it connects to the turbine valve. not sure though

@@Ishanttomar-bx3wg basically, I figured it out, but you wont be happy about it: first you need an electrolytic seperator, fill it with water, get the O2 from it into an pressurized reaction chamber, add water and coal, get the sulfur dust with some fluorite into an chemical dissolution chamber, and put that outcome into an chemical infuser, then youll also need an enrichment chamber where you put uranium inside, get the outcome into an chemical oxidizer, and mix the outcome from that into the chemical infuser, and fill the product into an isotopic centrifuge. The outcome from that thing is the fuel. And that stuff goes in over the green fission reactor port

What is a boiler for then? I thought I could make a boiler to power the turbine, but it requires more power to heat the boiler than I get power from the reactor in form of steam.
You can also use a boiler but it doesn't produce nearly as much energy ☺️
How did you connect the sink to the pipes?
Do you plan to cover the induction matrix? Right now I am finding my matrix is insufficient to handle the power the turbine is making.
I am using water coolant too, but maybe a water VS sodium coolant part 2 would be good too.
I am now building my SPS and looking into the fusion reactor too.
I hadn't planned on doing the induction matrix but maybe in the future. I am planning on covering fusion (it was meant to be in this video but it would have just been too much) so there's definitely room to expand
@@Hellfirem4ge the reason I asked about induction is I have heard that if the turbine can't output power and fills up then coolant can't flow into it leading to the reactor overheating. So the induction matrix is a power buffer

@@sirhugobigdogbest way to ensure this never happens is that your induction matrix is way oversized for your usecase. May Induction matrix has 200Tfe of Capacity. That should keep it running a while. And when you have the Sps then your storage filling up will never be a problem anymore...
So with the induction matrix if you do say a 5x5x5 you only need 4 providers and the rest will be cells. I always recommend that you slowly turn up your reactor in increments of 5 till you hit the threshold of your whole system. Also remember ditch the pipes and go port to port. That way your transfer rate is throttled by your pipes. The ports will transfer at a unlimited rate.

It should just stop I believe, but if will explode if if overheats, or fills up with waste or steam
i only need the reactor for the radioactive waste, do you think this could work with a electric pump and elite pipes? on the lowest settings.
So if you set it up correctly, you don't actually need to be pumping any more water in, so you could use that setup to fill the reactor, it would just take a long while. Just make sure that you turn it on, wait for the water level to drop, then turn it off and fill it up again to keep it flowing 😊

Turbine reactors don't need power, they need steam from a reactor and then output power
hey, i made my fission reactor, filling it up with 6 electric pumps with speed upgrades, after that i made the turbine and connected it to the coolant, it's receiveing a lot of steam but even with the electric pumps and the water output of the turbine i can't use the reactor above a 0.3 burn rate, otherwise it goes out of water. it's been 3 days that i'm having this problem and i literally can't solve
How big did you make the fission reactor? And are you condensing the steam back into the reactor?

Hmmm that's really odd, it should work if you follow exactly what I do in the video. That's the only way to set it up really (other than scaling)
set it up exactly how you did in your video. and that when i got a notice when i right clicked the turbine i got a message saying "Turbines require exactly one bearing"
Figured out the bearing thing. Was from another mod that I didn't uninstall completely. Did a fresh install and new save. But still having issues with the turbine. Built it exactly as you have here as a test run and it doesn't light up
I configured my turbine and reactor exactly how you did before going into discussing fissile fuel. All the coolant is connected from a body of water as it should be, and is connected where it needs to go. My coolant ran out a minute into running the machines. Why is that?
Did you top it up using a water source until both the steam turbine and the reactor was full like I did in the video? ☺️

I thought I was supposed to wait until the reactor is full of water, then the vapor gets put in the turbine through the pressurized tube on the bottom. Im using ultra quality mechanical tubing to pump water into reactor using a pump that is speed modified and everything, but the reactor takes foreverrrrrr to fill up when it runs out of coolant.
@@mossghitsli6983 yes, it definitely needs to be full of water when the turbine is full and then you'll have a system that never needs the water replacing, but if you just turn the coolant into steam, there'll be no coolant left to cool the reactor ☺️
I figured it out and got it working. I ramped up the burn rate of the reactor by 2, would let the water flow back in, then turned it up more. It worked for about 4 minutes but then started overheating at burn rate of 12 or 13. Hit the scram button, and saw the temp creep back down. The reactor was receiving constant damage and I couldnt figure out how to stop it and it blew up. Since this is a shared personal server, I begrudgingly reverted the world to a backup save from 3 hours prior. This undid my mistake of it blowing up. Sadly, it also undid my awesome implementation of the fissile fuel refinery chain. What I wanna know is what caused the reactor to blow even after I turned it off? Was it backpressure from the water or vapors? I had the turbine set to IDLE instead of DUMP EXCESS so idk if that matters. @@Hellfirem4ge
@@mossghitsli6983 so as soon as the temperature gets too high, the damage will keep ramping up until you inject some emergency coolant to bring the temperature back down, so even if you hit scram, it can still blow up. That's why I set up the emergency coolant system at the end of the video to stop that happening ☺️
I would make sure you also have enough energy storage, that causes a lot of issues if you don't dump the excess energy because the steam goes back into the reactor and raises the temperature like crazy!

My turbines never spun, it overheated and blew up. I wounder if it matters what hose upgrade you use and I would love to know the power source to use cause every "How to" uses source blocks not in survival for power.
You definitely need a lot of strong pumps to keep up with the reactor, it burns through a lot of water, but as long as it's completely full before you turn it on, and you refill it once when it is on, it should make an infinite loop. It sounds like you didn't give it enough time to fill up fully

Yes 😊 it shouldn't matter, just double check your modpack hasn't changed it to structural glass or something

Just made (almost) the entire thing like the tutorial said it, but for some reason, the tirbine isnt working while the reactor itself does (no interface). Im so confused about it. Any idea what I couldve made wrong?
Normally the issues are:
- It's too tall (fans don't fit)
- The configuration of the magnet and motor is wrong
- there's a random glass block inside the reactor or an input missing
Beyond that it's kinda trial and error tbh. Make sure your modpack doesn't need structural glass too
Just figured out, that I used the wrong blocks, since I didnt foznd the needed Block in the creative inventory for Mekansim at the turbine parts. Fixed it and it worked
My reactor blew up and even after repairs the turbine is not spinning and won’t recycle the water.
Did you find out why it blew up? The 2 most common reasons are a backup of energy or not enough water when active
you have your setup wrong. dont put pipes between the turbine and reactor. go port to port. will run and work 10x better. thats the way the devs designed it. that way you dont need to supply it with coolant once you turn it on even at max level
question. how do i get the water in. i cant even figure out how to do it with the mekanism creative water tanks, and this modpack doesnt have the sink
Just make sure you have the inputs and outputs set correctly on the pipes and the reactor and it should work 😊

Have you checked that they're configured to pull from the water source and that the reactor is completed and the UI comes up? Those are the most common ones :)

I have the turbine and reactor built but I went to go make the fuel and in order to get uranium long story short it’s luck to come across a toxic cave. Natures compass doesn’t work need the cave tablet in order to find a tablet you find it in a unground cabin. How you find an underground cabin luck. Then when you find tablet you have to decrypt it. Without braking it. So it’s 100% luck if you find a tablet and 100% luck if you decrypt it. Then and only then can you find the toxic caves biome. That doesn’t include making hazmat suits so you don’t die. I am on valhesia 6 mod pack. Really could use some help bc there is no way I did all this work just for uranium to be 100% luck to stumble upon even when looking for the things you need.
I'll be honest, I've never played valhesia so I'm not sure how to help on that one as most of that is modpack specific and not really base mekanism 😊

I’m having an issue where I can see both the turbine and reactors interface but when I activate the reactor, there is no burn rate or heating rate. Nothing happens. I’ve looked through the comments and found the structural glass switch from reactor glass for the turbine and it hasn’t helped. My coolant tank is filled with water all the way. I have everything connected with the correct cables, my reactor ports are configured to the right setting. I have the second turbine valve connected to an ultimate energy cube for power. Still nothing. Any help? Thanks

I followed every steps 2 times and it blowed up each times , i really dont know what im doing wrong i set the fission reactor to 0.3 so it doesn't absorb too much water beacause i dont have the sink like you have so im using water pump and i need a lot of them and i added some waste barrel in case , after 5minute trying to build the setup for the fuel i turn around and it was all explode , The mod Mekanism was really fun until this part , maybe you should use something else other than the sink next time so people dont have to struggle with a other solution ?
Before it blows up, is there still water in the reactor? Chances are you're overflowing energy if there is still water there

If you may I have another question I was wondering how you got the water to fill up the fission reactor so fast is there another pump besides the regular pump because originally, I used 32 pumps and I only just a little bit of coolant.
@@antsforever1356 I think in the video I used mekanism pipes and a sink from cooking with blockheads but having a lot of pumps is probably the way to go with normal mekanism. Thankfully you don't lose water over time so you only need to fill it once

dont dump regular nuclear waste, dump SPENT nuclear waste in a dedicated dumping ground to see how many sieverts you can achieve. my record is 500.

Maybe you need an electric pump?
can't u replace the normal pistons with sticky pistons so it resets itself or will that cause problems?
You probably can but it will restart the system again so this way you have to manually intervene and avoid disaster so it's more of a failsafe

If everything goes well then yes. The problem is that with chunk loading etc, stuff doesn't always work perfectly. You should be aiming for the system to never go off, rather than have it go off and reset

It's called cooking with blackheads but any infinite water source will work, even a normal pool with a mekanism pump ☺️

It doesn't work, it doesn't fill with water, I can't connect the waste tank, the gas tank either and I can't connect it to the turbine...
If nothing connects then you haven't built it correctly. Double check there's no missing/additional blocks and there may be different requirements depending on your modpack

If you have mekanism installed, there should just be ore underground. The main thing to check though is that the chunks were loaded after mekanism was installed or it won't work
I'm trying to build this with just Mekanism and Mekanism Generators, I can't get this to work nor the water sink, which mod is it? This is too confusing and I'm trying to build this on a server, any tips?
The water sink is from cooking with blockheads but you can just use a water pump from mekanism
@@Hellfirem4ge So, I managed to make the reactor, but it doesn't seem to be outputting any reactor waste, everything works and it stays cool, whilst the turbine generates steam and it's used, but no waste to be found?
@@Lystior that is super strange, have you made sure to set one of the outputs to "waste" (the orange one I think)
@@Hellfirem4ge Yup, output waste, I connected it with a pressurized tube, am I doing it wrong?? It allowed me to connect for both so im just confused, no waste in barrel and no waste in fission reactor either
Heya, I’m working with Lystior on making this whole mekanism build (i need chorus fruit and our server won’t go to the end until friday) - I managed to crank out the final components needed cus his ass kept delaying / complaining
Frankly I’m not the best at mekanism, hell, this is the first I’ve done, but as I play the role of the ARS mage I’ve been gathering materials.
Assuming you’re aiding him with the nuclear reactor, would you say we’re clear to start on a fusion reactor the moment the fission reactor is finished? I’ve got a hell of a short college day tomorrow so I plan to crank out mekanism whilst he does his exams.

i have this problem too. wich mopack do you use? i use create mekenism.
Make sure the tank is set to output top, and that the reactor is fully built or it won't connect

It's from a mod called cooking with blockheads. There's a bunch of alternatives though

@reggerdernoobs2678 I would recommend filling some tanks with water from mekanism and pumping it in. Start the reactor on a low level and slowly increase it until you have your infinite loop
