We go every May to Christiansburg and visit my husband's sister and brother-in-law (who have hiked a bit of the AT in the area in their younger days). We have hiked quite a bit of the Huckleberry Trail and Pandapas Pond was on our list for this year when we visit. Glad you're being smart about the cold. Our snow from last Friday here in Atlanta still hasn't totally melted, but it's been warm enough for us to hike some greenway trails the last 3-4 days.

Sounds like a safe plan. I was hoping you could get to P'burg and just stay put, Do it. Don't risk it all by staying out too long.

Cool, Pandapas Pond and the surrounding area is where I've done most of my training for the upcoming AT hike. I have a couple of nice camp sites near there.
We have very significant weather coming here in the south and lasting probably more than a week. Frigid temps and more snow than we may be able to handle. Be prudent in your choices and find somewhere to hunker down for maybe a week or more. I am in SC coast. Its scary forecast.
