- Nature will take you by total surprise sometimes! We have chickens that are free range, we don't water, feed, or shelter them. They just roam about the place doing whatever chickens do! Sometimes that is procreation! One of our chickens seems to have gone broody and hatched out eight chicks! They are now free ranging around the property with their momma!

They really aren’t that complicated. We had this happen once. Usually I’m not allowed to let the broody hens sit, but one ran off and hid then came back with babies. 😊
