Flannel Farms
США
Добавлен 12 май 2021
I tried, honest I did. I was going to make a wholesome family homesteading vlog thing, and somewhere along the way, the wheels came off, and we fell into ridiculousness. I now humbly offer you some useful information wrapped in the absurd. There is still a family, new to homesteading, trying to make healthy food themselves. There are homesteading things, family things, building things, fixing things, current event things, and mostly encouraging things, with nonsense interspersed. I hope you learn something, but most of all, I hope that when you click on one of our videos, at some point, you smile, and your day is a little brighter. Don't worry, though! Every now and then, we run around and panic!! Because after all, the apocalypse is coming!!!

Gardening in JANUARY?!?
Просмотров 51514 дней назад
When is it time to start thinking about your gardens? Long before it is near time to plant! We have a cut flower garden that our middle daughter, Flower Flannel, owns and operates. She is getting her soil blocks together this month to get ready to plant her cool season flowers next month. We also share a few life lessons that have really hit home since we started homesteading. #flowers #flower ...

How To Build A Free Pallet Fence
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Месяц назад
If you want to build a fence out of pallets that is strong and looks good, we have a few tips for you. We are using this as a pig paddock but it will work for nearly any small fence application you might have. Small as in I would not use this for large animals like cows. #pallets #farming #diy #flannelfarms

Fire Hazard On The Homestead!
Просмотров 3122 месяца назад
We have to replace the power wire from our electric fence brain to the pig fence. The problem is the pigpen is about 300-400 feet away from my power source. I will show you how we overcame that issue with an inexpensive but mildly risky solution. #fire #hazard #pig #diy #farming #homestead #flannelfarms
Making Hay, the Wrong Way
Просмотров 4903 месяца назад
You might be a redneck if you mow your yard and find hay. That is what happened when we bush-hogged our front field. We used to have cows on the field and now we don't causing some really good growth. I had to figure out how to save all this hay! It took a lot of man hours but we did finally get it all up. #hay #farming #homestead #oldfashion #flannelfarms

How To Convert A Trailer To Haul Animals!
Rebar is not a roost. Way too thin and cold!
I've seen them roost on wire fences. That said, we use tree branches.
that's fantastic about the new design for the paddocks, especially the water corridor.
It should save us a bunch of time
Bahahahaha xD "Trump, pardon me!" Man, that was some seriously well done improv haha. God bless you brother.
Thanks my man! Haha, I couldn't believe a chopper was flying over, we never get air traffic way out here.
Thank you.
"If not, Trump pardon me!" Brian Perry 2025 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome job. you're doing great.👍👍 Good to see your video. Have a great weekend👍👍☺☺💞💞🙏🙏
Thanks! You too
I hear you Brian. After many tries and dollars for goat containment, I gave up and pulled my economic level pipe horse panels for them. No more escapees or destruction. Keep sharing I love your time spent with us.
If you learn something, you are growing. That's the plan, isn't it? God bless y'all and stay warm.
You're right
Nice system! Lol...electric netting is keeping my goats in. I was just thinking I should get more and pull the fence around the chickens and ducks, getting the metal fence posts out for other projects.
Excellent system!
He would pardon you...😂😂🤣🤣
Rats, you have to take your cattle fences down again? That would be frustrating! I hope you won't have to do it again anytime soon! Lucy was a little slow to start. I'm so glad that you have an auger to dig the hole in the ground for the railroad ties. Cool, putting up some gates too! Good idea that the sacrifice area for the winter is the smallest paddock you have. That's great that you have 2 areas that are about 3 acres each. So 6 cows on 3 acres at a time? You need water all at one place for these paddocks. Pretty good time lapse putting all those railroad ties in for gates! Wow, that sponsor with the Wild Badger 4 in 1 yard tool is a good tool. I'm glad you like them. It's good that they have a gas powered one too! It is nicer to have a long run time instead of a battery draining every half hour. You have been showing us all the stuff you've learned as you've farmed your place. Thanks for sharing. I've been impressed with the progress you've done. Thanks for this video Flannel family and Brian.
Sounds great, Brian…you’ve really learned your way by experience..gradually. Thanks for bringing us along..hope everyone is doing well 🙏🏻
Gladly my friend.
love the ending lol
I love your videos! You're so honest and down to earth, Thanks for sharing, your awesome!
Thanks so much :)
Over the last couple of years, I bought all those Different gardening tools. And if I added them all up, they'd be a lot more than what this one's being offered on.
That's one of the things I really like about these guys, it is cheap but they work. We've really put them through their paces around here.
Hahaha .."Trump pardon me"
A: not being able to drop things easily and visit your brother in AL... or your brother from another mother in FL. 😉♥️🙏
He is in AL, I've yet to get to his newish place.
@@FlannelFarms That needs to happen, brother... I'm sure it must be tough to manage it. I know he's there... the other one in FL ... from another mother...is me. 😂♥️🙏👍
@WilliamMiller-nr5gb I'd love to visit you also, my friend!
So... be honest how bad did you get it after this? It's all over your tractor, golf cart, and chainsaw. Did any of your family or neighbors get it? I hope you are very far away from neighbors
I had two small spots around each wrist, like the size of a postage stamp. I washed and scrubbed everything, including tools and vehicles. I am surrounded by farm land, no close neighbors. No one else got exposed, including animals. As long as the fire is hot, the oils that cause the reactions burn off.
@@FlannelFarms glad to hear!
great job with the compost, happy to hear how well flower flannels business is growing.
that is awesome with how docile the large blacks are. I enjoyed the "flashback" scene of old "successful stupid" ideas 🤣
It was fun looking back
Beautiful! God will continue to bless your marriage because both of you are doing his will. ❤
Awww! I love you brother in law. My sister has such a good dude.
Wisdom and bovinity. Garbage weather was the best environmental diagnosis all day

9:09 me standing around admiring my husband's diy skills so his feelings don't get bruised ❤😂 well done!
You're a good wife! We men need the admiration of our brides :) When I build well, she is in my corner, haha.
@FlannelFarms he's definitely come up with some ingenious and interesting builds, but I try to never miss an opportunity to admire his hard work and big heart ❤️
I want to start my garden starts later this month! I can't wait for Spring! I bought a soil block maker at a garage sale for $1. I 'll be using it this year. It was -15F degrees here in Minnesota. Nice, Spring oat field you planted. My brother-in-law finally helped me get the Subaru engine rebuilt and my sister and I drove it over to Minnesota the night before Thanksgiving. I've had my car back for a little over a month. I still had some things to fix when I got it to Minnesota. Nice bunch of pallets Brian. I like the plywood ones for a soil bin area. I'll miss my farm but I can still grow some food. That bump out on your house sure looks nice. That's why I like my $600, 12 cubic foot dump Gorilla cart with the non-flat wheels. It sits even with my pick-up tailgate and so it's easy to shovel into it and dump it where you need it. It's small enough you can get it close to things. Since it can carry up to 1300lbs, It can be loaded with fire wood too to move the rounds to make fire wood piles. So versatile. We had no tractors or equipment for the farm. I'm glad to hear later that the piglets did well! Thanks for the planning advice Brian! Thanks for this video Flannel family!
That's a great deal on the soil blocker!
Wow, $400 Big Black Pigs. I like your newer boars. I'm so glad they are so docile! I love the boar name of Hamlet! That's a lot of piglets! So cute! Yes, they are mostly black! I'm so glad you got that boar! Calm pigs and piglets are very nice. I spent $600 on a 12 cubic feet Gorilla dump cart with 4 non-pnuematic tires (never flat). I think that's the best investment for the farm I made.
That sounds like a great cart!
Great how you raise them in the woods like that : )
I think its safe to burn it if you add it to an established hot fire and you keep your distance and just let it burn to ash
Solid heat is the key. It is the oils that are dangerous and oils are flammable.
Large Black has very desirable meat. Good find!
❤
I love my LBH. Glad to see this vid
They are the best man! Thanks again!
looking good....great lesson indeed, thank you!!!
I love them. My first Rooster was a freebee. English gold lace Orpington. He taught me how amazing and gentle a rooster can be. The heritage breeds are awesome. Thanks for sharing how important disposition is.
They are adorable! I love how they nurse off of which ever mama is available! How can I buy plant seeds from Flower Flannel?
I hadn't thought of that, honestly. I will talk with her and see what seeds she might have. Send us an email at theflannelguys54@gmail.com so we can get in touch. I don't think she's thought of selling seeds yet. I know she saved a bunch of her flower seeds from last year.
Hi Brian, Congratulations!!! What a wonderful success!!!
Thanks RGB!
OK I AM CONFUSED! BURNIED POISON IVEY! WHAT THE HECK

So cute
Great video! Thanks
We had Berkshires that were pri cool.
Sometimes, they just come out friendly. Sally is a mix and she's a sweetheart.
The scariest thing I think I've SEEN you do so far is climb that ridiculously tall ladder to retrieve the feline in distress. I understand you are an experienced firefighter, but DANG. Makes my toes curl just thinking about it lol... great vid man. Keep it up.
Haha I always think when I pass the 15-20ft mark, "well, if I fall from here I'll be dead..."
Yep, I had to fast forward on that one too! 😅
