Very nice contraption. Have you ever considered adding a roller bar on the back end to attach the shielding too as its stripped. That way it completes the entire stripping operation in 1 motion and you dont have to go back later to separate it. Instead of having the 15' lengths you could have much longer lenghs and the roller would wrap up all the shielding leaving the wire in a pile on the table.
Yes I've thought of something like that. On long runs it would be nice but you would have to set it up each time. on short runs it would be tedious. What I was thinking of would spool the copper up like a automatic donut maker.

What is the best way to take off the aluminum casing wrapped around the copper cable. I've been doing it by hand then stepping the wire with my strip meister 2000x
You need a saftey bar on the front of that. I made one goes 187 ft. min. Hyd. take up spools. Lay them out and run full lenth. I had different heads for each wire you could clamp them on and stuff them in ass soon as the last head fell off. Then tie the wire and insulation and let them coil. Collapsible spools on coiler. Used hydrostatic drive easy speed control with rev. and tied saftey bar to drive. I can do 4 layer CATV cable. Coiling 4 things at once at 187 ft. per min. The heads had guide rollers to straighten the wire before it hit the cutting wheel. Used pipe cutting wheels. and mini roller bearings on the wheel below the cutting wheel. The kind out of a 8 in. hand grinder. It would be hard to change that one but if you bend it thru the rollers it will force the outer layers off. Joe Schroeder Iron Man Metals.

Yes, the problem with that particular size wire I was having is the roller on the backside wasn’t squeezing hard enough. 99% of the time that machine peels the wire automatically
Some places pay for the insulation separately. Not much but better than trash. I once got $160 for all we could cram into a cherokee. Worth it if someone has as much as you have there.

A big bundle of bare copper looks pretty sweet... lol. 1st time watcher and subscriber too. Keep it up
Thank you. I only paid $250 for that wire stripper and it paid for itself in 24 hours. LOL on average one stripping copper you gain 1/3. You have to account for the loss of insulation usually around 10% and your time. With the proper equipment and proper handling it can definitely be worth it. Some of the smaller wire is too tedious now which is why I have a granulator.
I'm watching your wing nuts turning as you start. That would drive me crazy. I would tighten everything down so that it's consistent and I could monitor the changes.
lol ... The reason I leave them loose is I’m constantly adjusting on the fly, and the springs hold the T nuts in place so they are not really necessary. I might to just take them off. thanks for watching

And I'm willing to bet noone around here is doing what you're doing. Untapped market I hope. Thanks. Just subbed.
Thanks for the sub. I pay for all my scrap and if you watch my playlist "making money scrapping" I show everything about what Im doing and how I got started. Thanks for watching.
How does this thing work exactly? Is there something to score the exterior of the wire?
Yes blades on the top and bottom of the rollers, check out my playlist making money scrapping I show a lot more of that machine. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video. What size motor is that?
Not sure its in Chinese. lol Probably 2hp but I'll look in to it.
A lot of cash sittin there in the form of copper... very nice. I knew an old timer that used to strip his wire by making a big fire and throwing it in there.... letting the fire burn it off
lol, as fun as that sounds its illegal where I live. Thanks for watching.
That machine is a beast. All the open and spinning belts/chains makes me nervous. It sure munches all that insulation off the wires though.
I actually have all the cards for the machine, I like watching it all work. lol Thanks for watching
Where the neck do you get piles of copper to strip?
Electrical contractors
Where did you get new cutting wheels for your machine?
It came with them
@@ProjectShopFl did you get it from a business? I got a old one I thought someone made it from scratch and the blades were so damaged they looked like a bread knife all jagged and dull I sharpened them up but I would like to get a new set and I can't find any businesses are my area that sell that size of cutting wheels if you could hook me up with the person you got it from maybe they could help me out.
Thank you for your time and reply
Sincerely Tony Ward
dont know much about stripping wire but could you not just burn the plastic coating off if a fire ?
You could but shouldnt, it's not worth nearly as much as that nice shiny orange stuff.
That wouldn’t go to well in my neighborhood. LOL
In South Florida they’re not even supposed to buy it if it’s burnt
@@ProjectShopFl Im a builder and have nearly a skips worth of armored cable, heavy gauge copper inside aswell nightmare to strip, Here in the uk im getting £6 ( probably about 8-10 dollars) a kg on dry and bright copper, so its kinda woth stripping as about 3 feet of this stuff stripped is 1kg, Any vids of you dealing with armored cable, take care buddy and thanks for the entertaining and informative videos.
After you have processed the wire the first time; Have you ever tried using the stripper to aid in removing the cut insulation?
Yes, the problem with that particular size wire I was having is the roller on the backside wasn’t squeezing hard enough. 99% of the time that machine peels the wire automatically
Some places pay for the insulation separately. Not much but better than trash. I once got $160 for all we could cram into a cherokee. Worth it if someone has as much as you have there.
I've looked in to it but no one in south Florida buy it unfortunately
Where do you find all this stuff? Im a low voltage tech and been saving all my scrap probly close to 4k pounds in cat5 and 6 wire and alot of romex over the past few year, any tips would be appreciated
I buy from electricians
@@ProjectShopFl , how do you figure the pay that you pay for the wire. I do a lot of this myself, but not to the scale that you are. Would love to be able to get that kind of pile of wire. My loads to the recycle center are usually closer to just a couple hundred pounds or less. I would be willing to purchase, if I am able to make a profit, just don’t know how to figure payout rate.
Where and how did you come up with that much wire?? Wow. Did you have to buy it then resale? Thx
I buy it from electrical contractors
Did you build that if not what is it where could I buy one seriously please respond
No I bought that machine for $250. It’s supposed to have a bunch of guards on it but I took them off the first time the machine jammed and they never went back on. You can buy similar machines for around 1300 to well over $2000. Just google automatic wire strippers, copper mine Is an American company that makes him and then there are cheap Chinese models as well. Good luck and thanks for watching
What do you do with all the plastic waste ?
bring it too the local dump and pay like $5 to get rid of it.
Love these post.
Thank you
@@ProjectShopFl YW..... I'm a small time scrapper your post give me motivation.
nice hauls . thats a great set up
Thank you
where do you get all that wire , im a plumber and everyone i know keeps every inch of their copper
I buy it form electrical contractors
How did you get so much wire?
I pay for it.
How much a kilo are you getting for your copper @ the moment ?
Thanks
It was $4
Where do you get all your wire from
Electrical contractors
Guy sitting around sipping on a beer looking at his strip-o-matic 5000. Thinking, ' What Chinese dude thought this name up?
Haha, I just made that name up on the fly. I have no idea what's its called. Works great though. Thanks for watching.
Where did you guys get that much copper wire...?
High Tension power lines...?
: )
I bought it form a electrical contractor.
Just wondering, so say that trailer load with the 2 cans of wire, what would you get for it with insulation vs stripped like you do? I know price varies but just an esti ate of your opinion. Always wanted to make a wire stripping machine or byy one. Just always wondered how long before it paid for itself is all.
@@ProjectShopFl awesome. Thanks for the reply.
How much would you have earned from that amount of cooper if you don’t mind me asking?
@Kimberly Wankowski jeeeezzzz
That was a while ago when copper was down, I pay for all my copper so I usually gain 1/3 on what I paid.
Where do the big spools of wire come from ?? A electrican??
Yes
I would bet This man has worked his ass into the ground to get where he's at..good job for real
It was a rocky road for sure, thanks for watching
I'm watching your wing nuts turning as you start. That would drive me crazy. I would tighten everything down so that it's consistent and I could monitor the changes.
lol ... The reason I leave them loose is I’m constantly adjusting on the fly, and the springs hold the T nuts in place so they are not really necessary. I might to just take them off. thanks for watching
I like those safety shoes.
Thanks lol
Where u find 👀 all this wires from?
I buy it from electrical contractors
How about make one that takes the already cut wires. You feed the copper to one hole and the plastic on the other. As it is pulled through have a bucket after.
Thanks for the suggestion, I've been wanting to make a automatic donut maker. lol
Some of that's good wire, Bro!
It was pulled out because it was damaged. I can't save it all.
@@ProjectShopFl Got it... Just a Hobbyist and a handy man who cannot resist a good run of wire 🙃
Where did you get the machine from?
I bought it in pieces for $250
What happens to the plastic insulation?
I pay $5-10 at waste management to take it with other stuff. Thanks for watching.
You are amazing. The machine that you built is amazing. Can you built one for me? Thanks for inspiring me
Haha, well as much as I'd like to think I'm amazing I did not build the wire stripper, it is something you can buy. Thanks for watching.
So is the wire coating worth anything ?
Its plastic so its good to recycle
what do u do with the plastic insilation ? Thanks
Usually take it to the local dump and pay less than $5 to get rid of it. I'd like to turn it in to diesel one day.
Where do you find all this wire
Electrical contractors
From who are jou get al this stuff?
Electrical contractors
What kind of chain did you uses
If you are asking about the chain I pulled the copper with is a double hook pick chain for a Crain
@@ProjectShopFl if it's ok with you can you send me a picture of the chain I do stuff like that myself god bless
Dude I love this! How much did you make on that big doughnut?
I don't remember but probably gained 1/3 on what I paid for it. Thanks for watching
You're gonna need a forklift for that donut 🤣
I just rebuilt the motor and the hydraulic pump for the one in the videos. I need the cylinders rebuilt and its ready. It also has a rotator that came with it. I might make some videos on it. Thanks for watching.
How do you strip the armoured cable. (Metal wrapped)
I pull it out of the case. I've made a video on it.
Just curious...can the plastic sheathing be recycled, and if so, do you normally recycle it?
I’ve always wanted to try and converted to diesel fuel. But I take it to the local dump And pay to get rid of it, usually it’s like five to $10 along with other things I’m getting rid of.
Love the slow Mo's guys
Thanks
Where do ya'll get all that wire from?
Electricians
Very cool and efficient
Thanks
What do you doe with all those copper wires?
I buy them, strip them, then sell them
Where in the world do you find all this stuff
I buy it from electrical contractors
@@ProjectShopFl nice man I guess they sell it at quantities and prices to make it profitable for you?
Where do you get such huge amounts of wire??
I explain it in some of my other videos, but mainly from electricians.
Love watching Strippers
