The middle one always tells Kevin to focus on battles, which shows how dominant he is over other heads, also he commands the others what to do during battles. Seeing Ghidorah rise from the hole in the ice was so worth it. He was every bit as terrifying and badass as I wanted him to be. Humanity was fucked the moment Emma Russell woke him up.
Okay, just to clarify for everyone confused: the heads' official names are Ichi (middle), Ni (right) and San (left). However, because of the left head's inquisitive and rather dopey personality, and a tweet from one of the motion actors for Ghidorah, the fandom nicknamed him "Kevin." And we're sticking to it.
Shaney Zamora they were pretty much distracting him. Throughout the movie the military pretty much use their weapons to distract the Titans for people to escape which is how they tried to evacuate others in places like DC. Even in the final battle they fire on Ghidorah to distract him so that Mark and the military can find the Orca and Maddison
I honestly love how they showed that all of the titans weren't just animals (ofc Ghidorah isn't an 'animal' per se but..) and actually made them show human emotions and higher thinking.
well that's shit, it was terrible decision humanize monsters too much and exaggerate their facial expressions, disrespect Godzilla 2014 dark tone and realistic monsters.
Ainz Ooal Gown the plan was to pull the reset button on humanity having the Titans wipe out the humans cause while the titans do cause chaos the aftermath plant life will return due to their radiation...her plan got f*cked up when they decided to wake ghidorah up first than any other Titan
@@animationwrestlingfan1016 They actually did not want the Titans to wipe out humanity, but to help the environment and knock us back to a less pollution-centric way of life. The plan was never going to work quite as intended, since as far as we can tell by the end credits, no societal collapse was needed. King Ghidorah screwed their plans twofold. Firstly, he was fully intent on wiping out humanity, and probably most anything that wasn't a Titan. Secondly, he wasn't going to fix the environment, he was going to completely destroy it. Ghidorah was literally the worst possible outcome to the point that even Monarch stopping their plans would have ultimately been preferable.
Technically their plan did work in spite of the fact they started with Ghidorah - the eco-terrorists wanted to free the Titans so they could resume dominance of the Earth, and that's what happened by the film's end. Ghidorah just nearly made the Titans destroy their own world before Godzilla and Monarch set things right.
In the novelisation, it's explained the soldiers knew their guns would only get Ghidorah's attention, and they were trying to keep it focused on them to buy the Monarch staff and Mark time to escape in their Osprey before it shorted out.
We need to appreciate how much they avoided making Ghidorah just a stereotypical bland villain....this scene in particular, along with all his subtle expressions and personality quirks during the movie, couldn't do a better job of getting across how *sadistic* he is
@@fikrijuanda6321 The left head isn't really stupid. He's just the most curious, so Ichi the alpha head has to keep focusing him. But "Kevin" is usually the first head to notice something important and alert the others.

I like how this part shows just what kind of a sadistic bastard Ghidorah really is. In this scene we see him incinerate Hendericks and his platoon as opposed to simply squishing them. Then there's the scene with Raptor-1 where, instead of just squishing them or finishing them with a single Gravity Beam, he taps them with his heads. He's not trying to kill them... yet. But each head has a personality, I always loved how the middle head almost laughs, closing one eye, right before shooting electricity at the soldiers shooting the giant heads. Or the right one, that grunts after knocking godzilla over... Or the left head, known as Kevin, when Godzilla lights up his spines, charging atomic breath, Kevin head, is the only one you see looking at Godzilla's tail, showing curiosity. The middle is the dominant one, the right one is like the super strong bully, super agressive. Emma is the dumbest smart person in this movie. But the movie didn’t cover enough detail on her motive to team up with Alan Jonah, and how she didn’t do enough homework on the Titans before releasing them.
@@b.r.fowler785 Apparently she turned activist after losing her son in San Francisco in 2014 and she thought the Titans were the only hope they had for fixing the planet, and she thought Ghidorah would help with this, not realizing he is a destroyer of worlds from outer space.
2:37 I love how Kevin is like “oh hello there.” This makes me feel like he isn’t actually evil and just wants to please his brothers. Just a theory of mine
@@aryamanbhadauria1584 I'm not saying Kevin isn't necessarily a little bit nasty on his own, but I think based on your example that you missed the signs in GvK that MechaG, though its consciousness and sadism came from Kevin's Ghidorah skull, clearly lacked Kevin's individual personality quirks. Kevin was submissive to his brothers, timid and reluctant to face Godzilla, easily distracted, at least somewhat curious about his surroundings and humans, clumsy, and he wore his fear of dying more openly than the other two heads in Burning Godzilla's scene - MechaG was the opposite of those things, taking the initiative to fight Godzilla on its own with zero hesitation or fear, lacking the slightest curiosity about humans or its surroundings before killing them all on sight, it was strategic and focused and knew exactly how to use its mechanical body efficiently, and it didn't seem afraid of dying when it tried to blast Kong as he hacked it apart. Plus the GvK novelisation says that MechaG gaining consciousness from Ghidorah's skull, "it did not know who it was or what it was, but it was full of rage and the black joy of finally being." It's pretty clear that whatever was left of Kevin's or Ghidorah's consciousness in Kevin's severed head, Kevin's old personality quirks didn't survive throughout the head being decapitated, rotting away to just a telepathic bone, being converted into a supercomputer, and uploading into MechaG's AI. The director himself said that MechaG's consciousness was a new personality all on its own instead of Kevin in a new body. Formed by Ghidorah's consciousness merging with the A.I..
Ghidorah coming out of the ice is a great shot. Very reminiscent of Dante's Inferno with the devil being trapped in the frozen lake at the center of hell.

I like how each head was given different personality. The right one was strategic and smart, the middle one was dominant and aggressive , and the left one was curious. For example, Kevin was curious when he saw humans for first time, later he licked them out of curiosity. The middle one always tells Kevin to focus on battles, which shows how dominant he is over other heads, also he commands the others what to do during battles. The right one was smart, notice how he charged itself up with electricity, which later destroyed many army planes in skies. This intergalactic dragon is versatile.

There's something inherently sadistic about wanting to disintegrate a handful of humans with freaking GRAVITY BEAMS instead of crushing them.
Yes very much you don't have to talk or be humanoid like creature to truly be sadistic and twisted and this Ghidorah is a perfect example of that.
Fran Gorno
Even moreso since after the soldiers were disintegrated, San, AKA Kevin, was licking their ashes.
@@luisalvarado754 Well that was more the Kevin head's curiosity than anything else coming forth, like before they vaporized the soldiers when he went down and just observed them. He wasn't trying to eat them the same way Ichi kills Dr. Graham later.
Fran Gorno
Possibly. Though it could be that he’s just as sadistic as the other two heads. Like when he bit down on Godzilla’s neck to drain his energy in an eager manner. Possibly as payback when Godzilla tore his head off in the water.

I wouldn’t shoot Ghidorah. I would just run to the chopper. Did they really think their guns were going to do anything to him?
Shaney Zamora fear breeds desperation my friend
movie logic
Shaney Zamora they were pretty much distracting him. Throughout the movie the military pretty much use their weapons to distract the Titans for people to escape which is how they tried to evacuate others in places like DC. Even in the final battle they fire on Ghidorah to distract him so that Mark and the military can find the Orca and Maddison
Might as well tickle them
Shaney Zamora when his tail first showed I would have been running
I honestly love how they showed that all of the titans weren't just animals (ofc Ghidorah isn't an 'animal' per se but..) and actually made them show human emotions and higher thinking.

It occurs to me that the human antagonists' plan might have worked if they had started with literally any other Titan besides Ghidorah.

Ainz Ooal Gown the plan was to pull the reset button on humanity having the Titans wipe out the humans cause while the titans do cause chaos the aftermath plant life will return due to their radiation...her plan got f*cked up when they decided to wake ghidorah up first than any other Titan
@@animationwrestlingfan1016 I see, thank you very much
@@animationwrestlingfan1016 They actually did not want the Titans to wipe out humanity, but to help the environment and knock us back to a less pollution-centric way of life.
Kevin curiously nudging the soldiers is adorable. Twisted and horrifying, but still somewhat adorable
"Hey! Why don't we use our guns which shoot out metal bullets against a golden-scaled galactic dragon? What could go wrong?"
"Great idea!"

@@ecthox-1mork909Kevin's brain was used for Mechagodzilla, he's still an evil ghidorah head
Plus the GvK novelisation says that MechaG gaining consciousness from Ghidorah's skull, "it did not know who it was or what it was, but it was full of rage and the black joy of finally being."
It's pretty clear that whatever was left of Kevin's or Ghidorah's consciousness in Kevin's severed head, Kevin's old personality quirks didn't survive throughout the head being decapitated, rotting away to just a telepathic bone, being converted into a supercomputer, and uploading into MechaG's AI.
The director himself said that MechaG's consciousness was a new personality all on its own instead of Kevin in a new body. Formed by Ghidorah's consciousness merging with the A.I..
