Unfortunately the coalition have not committed to what is absolutely necessary to building up our military because they are afraid of the electoral consequences if they do. We need to double the ADF budget ( within one term of government) in order to provide just the basic defence for our military bases and northern cities. If the LNP chose to take the threat posed by China seriously they would also introduce national service like all other small vulnerable nations in the facing an existential strategic threat.
